- The seventies was a great time to be alive with possibly and collectively the best music of any other decade ever. Even some bands we associate with the 60s made their best music in the 70s (play Beatles/bob Dylan/or dead in the 70s)
Both layman and critics alike still heap high praises on bands like LEd Zeppelin, the who, also British, who else? The doors, even the BeeGees.
But what about those bands everybody loves to hate. They may not really be so bad, but for whatever reason…. Haters gonna hate.

DO YOU AGREE WITH THIS LIST?
WHO WOULD YOU ADD? 🤔
toby beau was God awful
Just curious, how old are you?
The most despised pop band of the 70's was almost unarguably the Bay City Rollers. And please, let's try to forget Shaun Cassidy while we're at it!
GENESIS IS AN ICONIC GROUP!
You seem to be slightly ambiguous if it’s an awful song or an awful band ? Also why’s Nicks and Buckingham on the thumbnail ?
Even the worst of the 70s music sounds like gold compared to what's on the radio today.
You got it DP. That sound that you can hear all around us is called Hip Crap!!!
Totally agree, D P.
good point
YES.!
What’s radio, Grandpa?
I never hated any bands back then, i listened to the songs I liked. It was all better then the crap we have now.
amen
True
Yup...for sure.
There was such a variety of music iback then
Absolutely 💯 true 👍
Genesis always rocked. Not every song, but every album had enough good stuff that it was worth buying. The same is true for Gabriel's and Collins' solo work.
Hell Invisible Touch was HUGE and loved by everyone... and almost every song was played on the radio, in commercials and even in episodes of Miami Vice.
genesis trick of the tail of was last real genesis album
@@ryan89554 Great album. It was released in 76, so I think I'd argue that this work alone means they do not in any way belong on this list. Also I think Wind and Wuthering is equally terrific, and that came after Trick of the Tail, so I disagree with your statement in that regard.
Exactly
Totally agree! I'm not sure why they're even on the list? Because the songs they played, were actually pretty good songs.
There wasn't actually anything bad about 70s pop culture. It was Paradise!
Yoko Ono
Genesis was an incredible 70’s band with nearly no misses! I couldn’t disagree more with them being on this list.
They stay on the list!
You're right they were great. Their stage show was unbelievable. I called it boogie Man music. Haha
The problem was not the band, but its fans inflicting pain on the rest of us.... hence the hate.
Exactly, they were awesome
Love them or hate them, you have to respect what Genesis did. Mastering quite different music styles takes guts and talent. How many other bands went from Prog to New Wave to Synth Pop to Space Rock and did it successfully? Queen and Rush are two others I can think of who adapted to the music styles of the day and remained successful, but there aren't many who did it as well as Genesis. And don't forget FIVE of the members of Genesis also had successful solo careers. How many other bands can say that?
Okay, seriously, millineals need to quit judging music they will never understand.
Oh my goodness. How pretentious you are.
@@stevetaylor7403 But he's right.
Amen to that! to me all music genres have nose dived since the late 70s, main reason it has become to corporate, to homogenized and to little artist driven. It peaked in the mid 70s, and by the 90s has gotten worse like a rocket sled on rails to the musical wasteland of today.
Are they the same as “millennials”? Why should music require to be understood. Let it speak for itself. Coherently, unambiguously, sensibly, unsensationally.
@@stevetaylor7403 you are clearly a tone deaf snowflake millennial 😂😂😂
Compared to today's music these are legends .
I couldn't believe Genesis was on the list. The Captain and Tenniel were OK too. Certainly not terrible. Both of these bands were very popular at the time.
How Genesis could be on a list of the "Top 10 Most HATED 1970s Bands" is beyond me, especially for that decade when they were at their best. With the departures of Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett, they "sold out" in the 80s but were still better than a lot of bands.
It what phil collins that was hated for some reason.
@@cypherglitch Some people think it was Phil that pushed the band towards more of a pop bent, when every member of Genesis has said it was Tony Banks who had the largest controlling stake in the musical direction of the group. Saw them live (finally) on the Last Domino tour a couple of weeks back. Phenomenal and a packed house of thousands. Phil got insane amounts of love from the crowd. Struggles to walk, but vocally he's as good as he ever was.
I saw Phil Collins on the invisible touch tour of 1986.
A phenomenal show!
Personnally, I liked them better as prog rock band, back in Peter Gabriel and Steve Hacket time, than a pop-rock band afterwards. But thing is they became a top band in either genre and time, regardless of each one's opinion (including mine). So... among most hated bands? My ass!
absaloutly right.
The fact that the worse music back then is better than the best music today…
👍👍 I agree
I would make an exception for Disco Duck.
No Ice Spice, 70s = worse,
Also genuine question, what have you head from this decade
@@Peysure Heavy Metal music was developed in the 1970's.
Genesis is one of the best bands of all time! Phil Collins has mad talent!
That is right. "Selling England by the pound" is the best piece of music ever made together with "In the court of the crimson king"
Peter Gabriel isn't half bad although I will concede it's more as a solo artist than a band member.
As does Peter Gabriel....have seen him twice in concert and Phil Collins once.
Screwed over a sell out Glasgow gig. Cancelled completely. They reorganised the London ones...but thought screw Glasgow! Haven't listened to them since and never will. Screw them all
It’s probably cause whoever put them on this list is still longing for the original lead vocals Peter Gabriel
As a kid, I was recorded on the Dr. Demento parody song of Muskrat Love, called Hampster Love. It's the only time I've ever heard myself in a song on the radio
I always called that song…
“Bubbles in the Bathtub”
Got in a bit of trouble with my Program Director for freelancing on air. 😂
@@crashcarney100 Big Daddy would be intrigued to hear what you call his song 🤣
Genesis doesn’t belong on this list for sure, they adapted very well to the changes in music during the 80’s.
You couldn't be more right. I never cared for Genesis myself, but they were, and still are today, very popular. Comparing Genesis to any of the other acts on this list is laughable.
Totally agree
@@mwright9106 I had the opportunity of meeting Genesis when I was real young. They definitely don't belong on this list and they aren't a one hit wonder. They stood the test of time.
Genesis definitely does not belong! I saw them live as well as Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel!
@@wilburmcbride8096 That must of been a real thrill...fun memory! Those were the days...at least what I can remember. LOL
Genesis seriously? This is one choice that we cannot agree to disagree. Their musical chops in the 70's should be hanging in a museum.
They did the slow death after Gabriel left - a group that went stale and the last 3 could not make good rock , Abacab or whatever it was was my biggest disapointment i my life and I bought a lot or records -so thanks drummer in genesis that can do shite songs
@@jari2018 I played frisbee with a tree using the Abacab album. But that's was the 80s Genesis not the 70s.
Well stated mikelmart
That’s Peter Gabriel Genesis. People hate Drum Phil Genesis that came later-so it doesn’t qualify for this list.
@@MarcosElMalo2 yes, I really can't stand to hear Phil Collins sing.
The 70's were full of one hit wonders. Mostly due to so many talented bands in that era
The GENESIS TRICK OF THE TAIL album was the best album where all the songs were fantastic and a type of phantasmagorical trip in a magical world. Although many of these songs may be considered bad, the beauty was that they all "took a chance" and expressed themselves without reservation and they made a mark in the rock and roll world even if just for one time.
I do love that particular song. Kind of medieval creepy. 👍
Mad Man Moon, Entangled, Ripples...classic.
Wind and Wuthering is my favorite Genesis Album, and that also was released in the 70's.
Squank
I think it’s a sin you’ve left Rick Dees’ Disco Duck out of this list , Genesis, with Phil and Peter up front doesn’t deserve such a bad rap
I'm not a fa n of Genesis, and especially Phil Collins. I do like some of Peter Gabriel's stuff/
Disco Duck was the result of a bet. Rick thought Disco was so talentless anyone could make a song. lol
oh yeah...Disco Duck...yikes.👍 " I will Survive" and "Gloria" is missing in action too.
"Disco Duck". :D :D LOLLLLLLLLLLL !!!! With that song's music song containing the ugliest muppet(/puppet) ever put onto film.
I can't believe Genesis was on this list. I liked both Peter Gabriel AND Phil Collins. The song "Mama" on their first album w/ Phil Colloins was and still is one of my favorite Genesis songs. Now the Archies (Sugar Sugar) would have been a better choice, even though that dreadful song was on the Top Ten back in the day. I agree Disco Duck should have been on there too. Not a grat choice for Rick Dees, who wasn;t such a bad guy in real life.
You are WRONG about Genesis, just flat out wrong. Get older people to do this. WHY is a photo Buckingham/Nicks on this. That was a fantastic duo with a wonderful album. Stevie Nicks' voice is gorgeous with all excellent songs on that slbum. They sold out concerts where I live every time they played here and EVERYONE has that album. They had one album because they joined Fleetwood Mac.
I think that was a limited-edition album. It cost me fifty dollars in a used record shop back in 1988. I really liked to compare it with earlier & later Mac albums, as it was both the genesis of Lindsay & Stevie, as well as what would the most productive era for Mac. Great album...
His mind is made up. He made that clear in his monologue.
So true. I loved Genesis but to each his own...
Stevie Nicks sounds like a freaking nanny-goat, hence the South Park episode
Genesis and Phil Collins were and still ate great. I still listen today.
I was surprised to see Genesis on this list! Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel they’re legends!
Hell Invisible Touch was HUGE and loved by everyone... and almost every song was played on the radio, in commercials and even in episodes of Miami Vice.
Genesis' variety is what made them so good.
Genesis, one of the best groups ever. The fact that Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Mike and the Mechanics, and GTR came out of Genesis, speaks for itself. Supergroups formed from Genesis. Unbeknownst to me why they appeared on this list.
The list was created by an idiot.
just showing my support here as well... 🤣🤣🤣
What is GTR?
@@allywilkeforsenate They were a band founded by GuiTaRists Steve Hackett (ex-Genesis) and Steve Howe (ex-Yes, Aisa). They had this one hit in 1986 titled "When the Heart Rules the Mind".
Inverted snobbery. Basically you are a bit thick if you don’t like 1970s Genesis, or haven’t actually taken time to listen
IMO Genesis doesn't belong on the list. Excellent musicians.
The buggles were not hated - far from it, they are quoted as a major influence for many bands, and of course Trevor Horn went to to run ZTT records and produced Frankie Goes To Hollywood, and ABC etc, who were *major* bands in the 80s, and some of the other artists mentioned weren't even well know, so hardly some of the "most hated".
Very well crafted songs and you had to live through it to really understand. I played Canada and Alaska in an all 70s and 80s band and everyone had a ball. Great crowds and loads of just plain FUN1
It was fun!! And we had great music, with people who could Sing, without the help of autotune!
How on earth could you possibly think Genesis could be on this list? Genesis was one of the most creative bands ever. If you actually listen to their albums from start to finish, they usually told a story and had a theme. There isn't a modern band today that could even qualify to be a roadie for Genesis.
They were not seen as cool at the time, they were kind of disliked in UK in the 70s
@@paulinegallagher7821 What the hell are you talking about? Invisible Touch was a HUGE album and made them a house hold name. and almost every song was played on the radio, in commercials and even in episodes of Miami Vice. you're nutz
Early Genesis was brilliant. Selling England By The Pound was a masterpiece.
Yes! Thank you!
Agreed.
Yes I agree
Absolutely spot on
yes, but when Peter Gabriel left they spent most of their efforts trying to figure out how to write generic pop songs to keep themselves in the charts. I still recall hearing the guys from pink floyd mocking them in a radio interview back when they had the hit song "i cant dance" on the radio. everyone was laughing at it even though they made a ton of cash, their integrity was gone. it rolled down Salisbury hill and into the gutter.
CORRECTION: The SIXTIES was a great time to be alive with ABSOLUTELY the best music of any other decade ever.
To have the Peter Gabriel era of Genesis on this list is akin to having Bobby Orr on a list of the worst hockey player of the 70's list.
You shot and you scored with that comment!
He left in 75. Still, even when Collins took over, Genesis was a well respected band. It wasn't until Phil Collins went solo in the 80s and started releasing all those schmaltzy songs that people turned from his music.
Brian i have never been out ANYWHERE and heard someone say lets jam some Genesis. Peter Gabriel had to dress like a girl. It was the only way to get talked about. It wasn't the music.
@@B.G.216 Genesis wasn't for the average jam. Just like Rush, Dream Theater, or Jethro Tull, Genesis performed music with polyrhythms, key changes, and guitar riffs in constant variance. It's a musicians band. Van Halen and Iron Maiden cite Genesis as an inspiration as did Queen.
Genesis sold over 100 million albums. Somebody's been jamming.
@@semperfiarcher not one time....
Genesis on a list like this??
They were awesome as a prog rock band with Gabriel at the front. The switch over to more radio friendly music with Collins as a singer worked like a charm and they have so many great songs.
Agree 👍 Genesis definitely should not be on this list.
Not one of them belonged on the list.
I do not like the newer Genesis, post 1976, but they were never a rock group, more of progressive rock.
Agreed!! Genesis was definitely a surprise on a list where Muskrat Love had a place! 😳😳😳
This is one of the dumbest videos that supposedly is about 70's music that I've come across.
I grew up in the 70s. When I meet people these days who envy me, talking about all the great music back then, I agree. Then I play them Pina Colada and MacArthur Park. Yeah, we also had crappy songs too. Also, not only did Captain and Tennille have some of the worst songs, they also had one of the worst variety TV shows. There wasn't much on TV back then.
what are you talkin g about? the 60s and 70s had the best tv shows ever. 50s too.
MacArthur Park was written by of the greatest pop song writers of all time, Jimmy Webb.
The Pina Collada song always had a creepy vibe in my mind. As did Tony Orlando's Knock Three Times.
As Creepy as "Timothy"?
Actually, I still like Timothy.
Creepy?
I must be a dag because I love both !! Give me that over the sh*t they 'talk' today!
As creepy as "Watching Scotty Grow?"
Genesis? Are you huffing glue, kid? They're one of the greatest bands of all time through all their incarnations.
Yeah... to put Genesis on the list just jab the whole video clip in the trash bin. Genesis has no place in that list, it's just ridiculous and silly at the same time.
The fact that they're still touring is a testament to that fact...even with PHIL"S SON doing the drumming !
They were great if you were into Miami Vice. I was, but to claim they were great is a stretch
@@timheersma4708 everyone is still touring. As Kathleen Madigan says, it should be just one act.......people you thought were dead
Ditto.
Agreed on Genesis not belonging on this list. Granted, I was a teen in the 80's and that's when I discovered them (thru MTV), but I can sure bet they wouldn't have made it to the 80's had they sucked in the 70's. Peter Gabriel wouldn't have had a career, nor would Phil Collins, Tony Banks, or Mike Rutherford.
made it to Suck Town right outside of Suck City to be the all-time sucking-est band. made it. Perty shur.
@@andercoyote4170 Listen to Firth Of Fifth and tell me they suck.
The first side of their self-titled album, "Genesis" (1983), is freaking genius. _Mama, Home By The Sea, and That's All._ I literally wore the tape out from overplay.
There are nice songs in Buggles' first album. Trevor Horn had a great career as producer and Geoff Downes on Asia. Both played with Yes and, aside of that, no other than Hans Zimmer played keys on this album!
The Age Of Plastic album by The Buggles is a MASTERPIECE!!!! It's a must listen for anyone who is into early new wave, or 80's prog/pop (Devo, Alan Parsons Project, Thomas Dolby, etc...)
The so-called "hated bands from the 70's" are better than anything from 2000 until now
There’s no way that Genesis belongs on this list. Keyboardist Tony Banks is a under rated talent that while not as flashy he’s every bit as good as Rick Wakeman, or Keith Emerson. And man, that narration voice, ugh….
@Auras Sparsas The Retard But the subject was worst bands of the seventies, not the eighties, which would include all of the albums with Hackett and most of the albums with Gabriel.
@Auras Sparsas The Retard Kind of similar to how Jefferson Starship and especially the Starship, music unfairly tarnished the legacy of Jefferson Airplane.
Agreed. Plus Genesis peak was in the '80s and is more likely remembered for that.
@@muffs55mercury61 Not their artistic peak.
home by the sea! Such a great song, if you like things other than guitar all the time.
I saw Genesis in the in the early 90s for their We Can’t Dance tour, Oakland Coliseum. The place was PACKED. We were up so high we had to watch them on the Jumbotron screen. 😂 I’d hardly call that a terrible band that peaked in the 80s. 🙄
And think how much better they were with Gabriel. They were spectacular then!
You still high, Lady.
Genesis is one of the most talented and entertaining groups of all time. Album sales and longitivity prove it. Its laughable to put them on this lst.
I’m 68. Thankfully I missed some of these awful bands. Great musicians in my era though! “ Come down off your throne and leave your body alone.”
Genesis and Phil Collins are AWESOME!! They don't belong on a worst list of any kind!

Greenday and Maroon 5 very crappy.

Any 1970s disco band could be added, as far as I’m concerned. The pre- Disco Bee Gees were actually very good.
Interesting that you used the Buckingham Nicks album cover for this video. That album was very good. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham BAFORE they joined Fleetwood Mac. After someone stole this album from my collection it's been impossible to find. Rare stuff indeed.
Thank you. I wondered who that was.
You read my mind. I found this album after Rumours came out. Thought it was fantastic.
I agree. I discovered that album recently.
Genesis’ progressive era was amazing. They’re in a totally different league than your other picks. There are a lot of other potential sappy untalented pop artists you could have chosen.
Genesis was boring as shit and Phil Collins was worse
Even if you did not like Genesis, or Phil Collins, the band would never have endured and have hits after the 70s, if they weren't good. Should have gone after the sappy band, Bread.

Based on the album "Selling England By The Pound", I'd remove Genesis from this list. They helped create England's art-rock sound.
When you think of Genesis you have to consider them as two totally separate entities. In the 70's they were an amazing prog rock outfit with Peter Gabriel on vocals and Steve Hackett on guitar. After they left what remained of the band reinvented themselves into a far more radio friendly pop-orientated band with Phil Collins on vocals. Sadly, most people under the age of 40 will have never heard Foxtrot, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Selling England by the Pound etc. and they only think of Genesis in their second incarnation. Even a lot of Genesis fans from the early days think they sold out to commercialisation and hate the later version.

Well, definitely not Genesis. That was a surprise to even see on here. They certainly were not my favorite band back in the day, I was more of a hard rock person, but I certainly enjoyed the group.
Don't forget, Trevor Horn went on to form one of the greatest experimental bands ever, #TheArtOfNoise!
And he was also part of Yes.

I never thought of bands as being "Hated" some seem more of the One Hit Wonders Category to me.. someone mentioned Spiders and Snakes..
that got me to think of "Brand New Key" a pop song written and sung by folk music singer Melanie. Initially a track of Melanie's album Gather Me, produced by Melanie's husband Peter Schekeryk, also known as "The Rollerskate Song" from the chorus. It was her greatest success.
I liked many of these songs listed..yes Muskrat Love is a Hoot.. I tried to learn it on guitar.. but as for singing it.. LOL
as very mediocre musician who has written and produced many never heard of things LOL..
perhaps my appreciation of how hard music writing is to the majority allows me wider appreciatiation of the effort heart that goes into all music even if it doesn't hit the mark..
what I see here is an opportunity to find and listen to lot of music I never heard so THANK YOU for all your effort to get a dialogue going on such fun memories.
Yeah, right? Genesis with 18x platinum total sales distributed over the course of six albums, and ten top 10 hits certainly qualifies as some of the most hated music. 😉😆
Genesis was adaptable to the times and was one of the better bands of their era. Great music came from them.

@Auras Sparsas The Retard Duchess, Abacab, Misunderstanding, Man On The Corner, No Reply At All, Turn It On Again... what a fantastic collection of great songs during that concert. The comments section totally negated the significance of the booing. One really terrible song Who Dunnit does not negate the rest of the concert. And that was a badly performed No Reply.
I'll never forget how "Follow You Follow Me" was chosen for the theme of our senior prom... I like Genesis, but that was a big no in my book. We all had to vote, and for some reason THAT SONG got the most votes. Those that voted for other songs sat that one out when it was played.
Some songs I remember that I really didn't like were: 1) the Starland Vocal Band, whose one-hit "Afternoon Delight" was pretty bad. 2) Rick Dees and His Cast of Idiots. Two words here: Disco Duck.and 3) Minnie Ripperton - Lovin' You. This 1975 song went to #1 - how in the world did this happen? Half it sounds like someone stomped on her foot. 4) Robert John - a one-hit wonder with his song "Sad Eyes" his voice sounded like someone kicked him where it counts too much.

I'm not sure where you're getting your opinion on "Billy, don't be a Hero" but nothing about the song seemed funny to us. It hit home to a lot of young lovers during that time, when a lot of men didn't return from the War.
Genesis, for me, the 'real' Genesis, ends with the exit of Steve Hackett, with 'Wind and wuthering'. After that, it's something totaly different. My worst bands of the 70's-80's are The little river band and Abba.

Rupert Holmes may have been a solo singer, but he was in a 1970's band. That band was The Buoys from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and their big hit was 1971's "Timothy", which was controversial for being about cannibalism. Disc jockeys, of course jumped all over the song and played it with promotional glee.
The real reason for Daryl Dragon & Toni Tenille's divorce was that Daryl ("The Captain") was suffering from neurelogical disease (he's had the disease since he was a child and it affected his eyes, making him stare with bug eyes whenever he was photographed without dark glasses. As a result, The Captain was very camera shy, which is why he rarely smiled, and wanted to mainly wear dark glasses in front of photographers.) The Captain was so sick by 2015, he had to go into hospice in an assisted living apartment, and it was considered a liability with many medical bills, so the couple agreed to divorce so The Captain could retire in solitude and die. He finally passed away in 2018. Toni Tenille was by The Captain's side when he died. The Captain had two sons who played in the comedy punk rock band, The Surf Punks, who were best known for their comedy surf song "My Beach" in 1980.
Edison Lighthouse was sometimes confused with Canada's band, Lighthouse, a band who hit in 1971 with "One Fine Morning" and "Sunny Days". While Lighthouse was considered a real working band since 1968, Edison Lighthouse was considered a studio group who had one bubblegum pop hit in the US, and were compared with groups like The 1910 Fruitgum Company and Crazy Elephant.
While many rock critics disliked Phil Collins over the years for leading Genesis during their hit period phase in the late 70's and 1980's, they loved Peter Gabriel, especially after he left Genesis for a solo career. "So" from 1985 is still considered a classic album from the 80's and the song "Sledgehammer" is considered technically innovative for it's video effects at the time. "Shock The monkey" from 1982 is a pretty good catchy pop song as well.
I'm surprised KISS isn't on this list. They were loved by the fans, but loathed by the music critics. Gene Simmons could be a bit of an asshole at times. Also missing is Ted Nugent, who is also a nasty SOB when he wants to be, especially in his right wing pro-gun phase, which he remains to this day.
Sorry everyone but who is the couple on the image of this youtube video. Thanks in advance
I have always loved Phil Collins and Genesis! Most of their songs were fantastic. How could anyone hate their music?!
After Duke. it's not hard.
Me too. I didn't know anyone who disliked them. We just all hated disco at the time.
Pretty easily.
@@majscrap2629 Abacab is not that bad, IMO. Duke was better though.
Some people think they sound cool or street if they bash commercially successful bands. You’ll see the same group of people bashing abba and reo speedwagon.
Are you out of your mind?? Genesis is and was one of the most followed, creative, respected and best selling bands of all time. The Lamb, Selling England, Trick of the Tail, Wind and Wuthering, Duke were one of the best prog albums, not just of the 70's but of all time, included in several best of lists by several critics and magazines. You probably did zero research and just included them because the band changed their direction after Gabriel left. If anything they won even more fans as they progressed.
I’m shocked to see Genesis on this list. I mean REALLY?
@@mmklassen Yeah, the guy did zero research lol. I am a huge Genesis fan here, just saw them live last year. What is your favorite album?

Genesis is amazing highly talented rocks a to z. Saw the last tour 2020 2021 October in N.C..Charlotte
Utter nonsense that Genesis are here, no matter what your thoughts on the post-progressive stuff.
I still love genesis and Phil Collins to this day
I'd add Paper Lace, which recorded The Night Chicago Died and Hitchin a Ride. They also recorded Billy Don't Be a Hero but didn't have the hit with it in America.
So, wait a minute, Genesis is on the list but, Helen Reddy " I am woman",
Paul Anka, "Having my Baby," and Starland vocal band" afternoon delight" are not?
I think you had one too many Pina Coladas.
And lets add Kisses for Me by Brotherhood of Man to the list. I thought afternoon delight was going to be number one on this list as soon as I saw the title of the video lol.
I'm with you on everything but Afternoon Delight. I think it's a terrific vocal arrangement.
I Am Woman was a great song
Well said Tim....
You better believe it Timothy mc carthy
I can’t believe Genesis is on this list!! I know, to each his own. But, for Pete’s sake! Genesis ROCKED!
ABACAB!!!
Rock ah no
Genesis are better than they sound.
@@tomobedlam297 🤨 Music sounds. If it doesn't sound good, it's bad. It feels bad if it sounds bad.

Fishing's good tonight! 🤣
Captain and Tenille are a warm memory. Leave ‘em be.
Muskrat Love has great harmonies.. Beautiful singing... I like Pina Colada And a few more listed. This video gets a C- as long as we're grading things...
Replace Genesis with Debby Boone. 'You Light Up My Life' belongs with 'Feelings'.
Oh yes. It's a shocker 😂😂😂
Totally agree, now that was one BAD song, and I got so tired of hearing it.
You light up my life is my #1 hated song. It's just awful.
@@annoldham3018 Debbie Boone rocked!
Replace the other nine entries with GENESIS!
Man that was a long preface. And Genesis doesn’t belong on the list.
Put me off watching
Yes I agree
Genesis sucked but not bad enough for this list
if Genesis is on this list I am outta here, not watching any of it
@@porkbelly0713 Agreed. Also, no one really hated The Captain & Tennille or Edison Lighthouse. did they? Perfectly acceptable Top 40 fodder. May as well put Elton John on the list if that's where you draw the line.
Not stikkin around for the show I just wanted to say the world sometimes STILL says unkind things about the Buckingham Nicks album (a real gem) and now there's no denying that its a very important album that helped usher in the California 70s wave of classic rock music and shaped the Fleetwood Mac sound that came soon after. ❤❤❤❤❤
I still listen to the Buckingham Nicks album.
Trevor Horn of the Buggles is one of the most talented artist going
Genesis wasn’t hated. They just moved closer and closer to mainstream rock and away from their beloved progressive rock origins.
Hated. very much.
@@andercoyote4170 👏
They were more "Art Rock" than progressive. I much preferred Roxy Music.
I freaking love Genesis!!!!
I will have to disagree with that pick.
Agreed - they made good music in ALL their different iterations.
I also disagree with that prick.
Same here - 1970 (Trespass) to 1976 (Wind and Wuthering) was some of the best prog ever made. Then they changed their style to softrock/pop, but still with some of the elements from their past present in the music.
Some of the prog-fans never did forgive them that change in style, but to put Genesis on a list like this, is sacrilege!
Me too Tabitha
I suspect anyone who even has one hit has done more for music than this channel has with this video. Over all I like this channel. Haters gonna hate does not mean that you should hate.
David Geddes' "Run, Joey, Run" should have been #1. I couldn't get away from it in junior high school.
Genesis rocked. Seriuosly phil collins and peter gabriel, two musical geniuses.
I agree Peter Gabriel is a genius. The band sucked after he left.
@@johnsieff2921 no they didn't
Phil Collins makes my skin crawl! The second side of 'Foxtrot' is a masterpiece. Collins turned the band into Radio Rock garbage.
Not a fan but can't disagree.
@@johnsieff2921 I Disagree With You. Phil Collins Had Great Music. Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover.
In 50 years of concertgoing, the greatest single performance I've ever seen was Genesis touring with The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. The inclusion of Genesis on this list is laughable.
oh please

I saw a show on that tour too. It was amazing.

their last good record.
I would add "The bay city rollers".There....hit...Saturday night.
Cannot agree with Genesis. Brilliant band. Saw them live a couple of times.
Love them
Yep real bad so much so already inducted into Rock and Roll hall of fame
Never understood why phil was hated, and especially while people rocked away to his songs. Many people did not know alot of the popular songs were by phil.
@@1958seeker Genesis Is A Great Band Great Music. Shouldn't Be On This List No Way. For People Who Didn't Like Their Music It's Their Loss In Good Music.
@@dianalewandowski7421 Me Too Great Music By Genesis Shouldn't Be On This List Of Hated Bands Heck No. Great Music. The Narrator Of Do You Remember Doesn't Know Good Music.
GENESIS WAS THE BOMB !!! LOVED THEM THEN AND NOW
I have nothing against Genesis & they shouldn't be on this list😉
Being on this list is a true miscarriage of justice.
The best Genesis album, Foxtrot, was released in 1972.
Video Killed the Radio star was an ode to Kenny Everett so will always remain dear to my heart. Every time I hear it I think of Kenny and that’s a good thing. He always brought a smile…”Roy Rogers. Doesn’t everyone?”, amongst others.
No list is complete without the song, "Having My Baby."
That song was ridiculous!! I agree,George..
But it was perfect in the premiere episode of WKRP In Cincinnati, sung by a mock version of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Especially with the needle scratching it as the station format changed mid song.
I agree! That was one of the worst songs ever recorded!
MOST DEFINITELY!
The dumbest and most inappropriate song EVER !
Never knew anybody that hated Genesis
As I recollect, they had a pretty strong following in those days.
Always hated them
many of the fans of the peter gabriel led genesis werent fans of what the band became after he left
I know. They were my first concert and Collins and Gabriel were phenomenal. They played a solid 3hrs without having a cover band.
“The young ones” did.
Quote; “This is just as boring as a Genesis album” 😂
Genesis rocks. It did help I got into them when I started smoking weed.
Genesis? Any band with Phil Collins and Peter Gabrial can't be bad
Dude, Genesis is one of the most legendary prog rock bands of all time. It's a shame they went pop, but that wasn't until the mid 80's. As a 70's band they put out classic album after classic album, from Foxtrot and Selling England By the Pound, to The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway and Trick of the Tail, their 70s output is Hall of Fame worthy. to lump them in with a bunch of one-hit wonders is ridiculous.
Truly Their quality fell considerably with the departure of Gabriel, but when Hackett left, they totally lost their way.
@@lastinline1958 I think they still put out several great albums without Gabriel, but I agree that Hackett's departure was the backbreaker. And Then There were Three was decent, and so was Abacab, but it wasn't the legendary stuff of Foxtrot, Selling England or Lamb.
Genesis? Are you nuts?
Loved Genesis
And then we where three, and boring.
Id have to disagree, I love Genesis. While they were all successful on their own , I think they made some amazing tunes.
Peter Gabriel Genius 😎
The band went from Prog Rock under Peter Gabriel to Pop under Phil Collins. They're two different bands.
The split was bound to happen. Peter Gabriel got all the kudos even though everyone put in the work. And Peter Gabriel was getting too abstract for the rest of them.
If you like early Genesis, you like Peter Gabriel's solo albums. If you like later Genesis, you like Phil Collins' solo albums.
I do like them both. Phil Collins is probably my favorite singer/performer of all time, but Peter Gabriel is pretty damn good though!
@@SidneyBroadshead i couldn't tell which one was peter in the photos
@@SidneyBroadshead I think the we hate Genesis brigade, of which I am one, really dislike the split and feel that Phil just blatantly sold our to get some money or that they never really were prog and just did it to get known and then left that scene. Clearly they are all excellent musicians. When they get berrated, I think it is over some exceptionally comercial pop music in later years and some of the earlier fans feel betrayed.
I was a Buggles fan long before MTV came around! Boomtown Rats, The Elevators too!
Paper lace done " Billy don't be a hero " . Not Bo Donaldson!!???
Strangley the lead singer from Edison Lighthouse had FIVE one hit wonders: Let's Go to San Francisco, Love Grows, United We Stand, My Baby Loves Lovin, Gimme Dat Ding, and Beach Baby. All with different groups.
Im not saying all these songs are good...but still...
All of which equally Suck!
gimme dat ding..Mmm catchy !
Yeah I was about to post this.
And The first Class😮
Yeah, Genesis has no business being on this list.
Absolutely 💯 correct.
Can't even find ten good bands these days
Why not? Then neither Captain and Tennille then much better imho.
I remember one afternoon in the early 70s when I was a college freshman. I was driving in my VW Beetle when a song came on the car radio that made be cringe. It was Paul Anka's "She's Having My Baby".
I couldn't stop laughing at the captain and tennille, muskrat love is on my car playlist.
Every time I hear it I get a little smile and laugh man is a bad song. And then I sing along.
Genesis was good.
I still enjoy their music.
