The keyword system for room types is brilliant. It gives the game a nice "function leads to form" gameplay system where this magic school ends up looking like a whimsical cobbled-together mess just because you the player are trying to optimize your layout. I love it! And the randomization on the difficulty you played means you can't rely on old faithful standard designs like you can in something like ONI.
yeah exactly what i was thinking! The use of the fog to encourage vertical building leading to an actual wizard tower is a really clever design choice!
I would love to see Echo give this an ONI style playthru. Deep dive into all the nitty-gritty details of the game.
I second this! Echo, please do a series on this game. Likewise, I would love to see you dive deep into the details of this game and find out the details that can be pushed to the limits.
Agreed!
Totally!
I would also love to see a series on this game.
Absolutely!
Thank you Echo I need YOU to play this game. Everyone else doesn't eplain their mindset. They just do. This game needs someone to explain why they are doing what they do.
While that's true, the problem is he's just starting out so may not know why or what is optimal.
@@SaintGerbilUK yes, but that's what's great about Echo. He learns with you and pays attention to his commenters who know more. Plus give him some slack the game is still fairly new
@@2joshua123 I'm not criticizing him I'm just saying that everybody's gotta learn sometime.
How did I not know this game exists? Echo, this game may be niche... But I feel like it's perfect for your style!
It was just released on early access on dec 15th
When you have a chest selected you can press tab to cycle through them (seems to work for almost everything too).
You shrank your wand room removing the lofted needed to be a workshop, BtW. You are the first I've seen to use a stair between levels on the same "floor", I had assumed it was possible and am glad you confirmed it for me. You've good instincts having multiple chests around the school for the different items to be used in the local room, filtered to the items needed by room, remember that for the kitchen and dining rooms.
You can have some interesting grouping in the schedules, for example you should add a schedule for all the dead staff and students that does not include meals. You may also want to have staff( or a specific staff, the cook) spend an hour task time before meals to make any meals needed before everyone else goes to eat.
Unsure how the game resolves scheduling conflicts per person so how helpful this idea will be early game I can only guess, but making additional schedules for each wand type( staff and student specifically assigned) and giving them each an hour a day( + 1 hour general classes that all share) dedicated to training that wand would allow for later game advanced classrooms( wand specific) to operate properly and only assign each person 2 hours a day of class. It seems you can train each student in more that their specific wand type, so you could encourage all students to take the earth wand education along with their actual wand by putting them into 3 groups. I'll be curious to learn how the game handles such scheduling conflicts but I assume it would do so as it would handle matching priority conflicts, seemingly randomly chosen decisions.
It seems tweaking the priority such that each task has a primary and/or a secondary person assigned highest(^^) and high(^) priorities based on their proficiency in that task( or if they love doing that task) will speed up everything if done for all tasks. Exceptions include tasks that effect the individual only like medical rest, that should be *, ^^ or ^ for all to encourage healing after combat/damage regardless the schedule.
Note: there is a quilter table that makes quilt monsters, or artificial beings designed to haul goods around( saving the students to do other things). There are also sawing and mining such monsters to be had too.
I loved this game because of the way you played it.
Please keep going. I'll be here liking and watching all videos from this game!
Hype! I saw this game and was wondering what it was like. Now I get to watch Echo play it while adding it to my wishlist
Well done!! Would really love to see more of it from you.
I absolutely LOVE this game. Been playing the beta and it has changed a LOT. I think you are going to have a lot of fun with this one.
I loved playing this! It's great to see you playing it as well! Enjoyed the video! And can't wait to see more!
Thanks for watching
Kevin!
During the battle both sides always fight with the first line. The specific spells like lightning strikes allow you to hit any enemy in any line
This looks interesting! Not sure it's something I'd play myself but watching a certain Echo entertain some chaos would be fun!
Would love an extended playthrough of this Echo
Good morning Echo! This has been a fun watch and would love to see more episodes. It combines alot of aspects from other games that I like, the turn based battles are a chef kiss imho. Thanks for a great episode!
Loved the video, keep up the amazing work!!
This is cute. I love that there is the turn based combat with the colony builder. Very nice touch
I would love to see more. I enjoyed the story telling as you were playing. Made it more enjoyable :).
This looks like a much more in depth version of Spellcaster University, I'm gonna have to try it. Thank you for the video.
This game is right up my alley!
Thank you for featuring this game and letting us know about it. I know what game I'll be playing next month now.
Looks quite interesting! Thanks for the intro dive.
would love to see more of this game! looks super fun!
I'm very grateful you made this video, everything about the game tickles my brain! I'll definitely prioritise this game over others now
Looks really nice and deep and all the visuals are wonderful.
I am happy they got rid of the toilets necessity. :D
Thanks for giving us an intro. I'd love to see you do a full playthrough. The game looks great and I'll be adding it to my list of games to check out.
This game looks really cool. I hope you end up doing a full playthrough
This one definitely seems like a lot of fun. Hopefully a playthrough is in the cards!
Getting Spellcaster University vibes from this!
Gotta keep this series going Echo, Chaos Uni will create ultimate Chaos
Yay! I'm so happy you like this game! I was curious about it and hoping you would cover it at some point
Looks great, gonna go buy it right now, Thanks Echo. Make more videos of this game so I don't have to figure it out myself lmao
Looks neat, worthy of a full run.
Would Love to see more of this game
I hope this becomes a series
I love this game and I love that you’re playing it.
Interesting game! Interesting to see how similar some of the core game systems are to Oni.
It’s a completely different developer. It has nothing to do with ONI whatsoever. Other than being published by klei but that doesn’t mean anything in regards to game mechanics or graphics or anything of the sort. Klei really was the perfect publisher though lol.
@kalenlarsen I assume the developers of Mind Over Magic took inspiration from ONI in at least some bits. (Storage filters & room classification are some examples)
@@kalenlarsen while it has a different developer, it is definitely similar to ONI. He wasn't saying that it had something to do with ONI, just that it was similar.
he said it like it was the same developer and its not really similar at all other than the genre....
@@ThatOneGuy15270
these are all normal things for games of this type... you guys have just played oni and are seeing false similarities lol.
@@nikolaysitnikov796
Looks fun, thank you for showing us this game.
25:33 Room scope settings sound nice. I kinda feel like Rimworld could use them too.
Love this game, please keep going this series :)
All right man, I’m loving this game let’s see more of it
I would love to see you do a let's play of this or continue with this save, you're one of the only people I've watched that seems to actually know what they are doing when it comes to this game, and I'd love to see what some of the end game content looks like.
I am so ready for a twitch playthrough of this game.
“wonk” is definitely a perfect term for changing the roof style
Love this channel
Ok, I could watch this for hours
I'm so excited one of my favorite youtubers is covering this game
I agree with some of the other comments. This game definitely has the right chaos feel for this group. I am only a few minutes into your video, and I'm already tempted to give this one a go.
This looks fun, thank you for introducing me to it. A pity there's no demo available.
very throughout and informative playthrough
I’ve had this on my wishlist for awhile because it looked cool but now i’ll buy it for sure.
damn!! i already feel attached! lol would love to see more!!
I'm happy about this series coming out from Echo. Just curious about races mechanic, i mean..if we have a complete set of all elemen line-up with a same race, will them get a special bonus in battle?
Amazing video and amazing game echo!! i would love to see Chaos University turn into a series 🌹
40:03 - Ah, this is more like Echo, a bunch of injured -dupes- staff and students in -triage cots- beds
something about the staff just bursting into dancing while clipping into each other will never not be funny
Okay this is now on my wishlist.
This game has been updated so much since I last looked at it, it's looking so good!
ONI already includes Rimworld features so it is just ONI + Hogwarts, really
The art of this game is really amazing and i just love the animations
This is looking pretty good.
Sorry, can't watch more than 4 minutes in until I get to experience playing this game myself. Looks too good!
I wanna see more, I wanna see more, I wanna see more, this game is firee, love your ONI videos, but this is great 😍
THIS LOOKS SUPER COOL.
Great content. Makes me wanna play the game.
keep playing it echo
Interesting game man, I'll check it out! Appreciate the look!
Loved the video! Now I just need 30 more =D
This looks like a great new game for you!
This game is so complete, it has everything!
This looks like a lot of great potential! Does anyone know how many maps they have or intend to have?
I was very curious about this game
I'm excited for this one! YAAAAAAAAY
Hi Ed!
If you know want multiple chests with the same setting you can always build one, set it, thrn build copies with settings.
Couple of things that can make your life easier
- Double-clicking a resource will select all the resources that type on the screen to easily harvest/prioritize
- Pressing 'T" tilts the camera for easier clicking stuff further in the background
- Selecting Staff/Student and then right-clicking on the task can force you to do it immediately manually
- As long as you have one classroom there is no harm in double lectures, cause only one mage will be teaching and it will be quicker to hire or collect more scroll
- The task that students can do depends on their skill level (because they start with 0 on all stats they can't do much)
- Dead Mages have a purpose in this game it's not actually that bad if someone dies during a fight
- There is no way to upgrade a skill of your mages other than hiring new students on their place
Like the keyword system keeping the rooms irregular
Dancing the Night Away research for recreation is definitely a must get early, especially on relentless. You need to keep that conviction up.
I don’t know if it’s already in the game, but I think it would be really cool if there were magical pets you could assign to students or staff.
v impressive engine. Haven't seen anything quite like this, perspective wise.
this reminds me a lot of Spellcaster university but more complex and more polished
I mean, there's a lot heavily borrowed from Spellcaster University here, fog versus the great evil horde, graduating students to get buffs, turn based combat to get drops to improve the school. I'm not immediately going 'plagarism' because of the massive amount of systems they added, and the impressive 3d construction they've added. But it is kinda like seeing Wolfenstein and making Doom.
Yes i agree, maybe this is what Spellcaster University could have been with more budget. I would love to see a similar game (create/manage a wizarding school) but with top down view like prison architect)@@undine120
YESSSS. I'm so glad you're playing this!!! I've been addicted.
Ahh man... this is gonna be another thousand-hour time sink for me.
2024 is gonna be a great year for gaming.
Having watched this, i went and bought the game. So fun already!
This really reminds me of spellcaster university
Spellcaster University if it was not that indy, love it!
this game smells like a lets play for you i would like to watch
More please!
Thanks! I really trust your opinion on these types of games. I never would have checked it out if you had not brought it up.
Same here. I've seen the teaser videos, didn't realize at the time that it is actually similar to ONI, so glad Echo played it.
wow this game looks amazing
Looks fun
Make this a series please!
This looks like my kind of game. Really like that it has turn based combat.
Viscera in English is pronounced with an s sound, not with a k sound like in classical Latin. I'm terrible at writing English phonetics, but google says the American pronounciation is vi-sr-uh.
This game looks so good :o I want it
I can see elements from oni but its so good
Will buy it soon looks fun and need to use brain like oni
Come on mon, continue and make this a series ^^
well that was fast
this game looks really good
Ok. I need this game. And time. xD
Great video, and it’s already doing better than the civ videos
Looks like "Spellcaster University"
Hey! I hope you enjoy this one too.
