    This video is super helpful!
    My baby is 7 months old now so I would loveeee the next video.
    We found out I was pregnant the day we moved into our new house which is 2 bed, we were ready to set the spare room up as an office🙈 my granddad died a few years ago and left me £1000 which I was saving for this time and we decided to spend that on essentials, we spent a fair bit on the pram but it's a pram, car seat and turns into a pushchair too so it's very long lasting think the car seat goes up to 18 months, we got it from Mothercare in their baby event and even though it was expensive it was super worth it. We also got a cot that changes into a first bed from Argos and a travel got for £20.
    We got given a baby bath and a Moses basket from my partner's sister who has a baby a year older than ours and we also got a lot of clothes from her too so that saved us loads, we did buy a few clothesa from Primark and Matalan because we couldn't resist but my mum got us about 50 clothing items from Facebook market place for £10! Amazing! We got gifted so many clothes too!
    My grandma got him a Winnie the Pooh rocker which he loves. I think I've only bought him 2 toys haha, he was born in September so everyone got him gifts for when he was born and then again at Christmas, he doesn't even play with most of them I feel so bad about it!😅
    My partner was pestering to get a prep machine (I'd given up breastfeeding after he had weight issues and I got really anxious about it) but I was like we really can't afford it but when he went back to work they gave him a £50 boots voucher and I think we put £10 towards it and got one (it's made life so much easier but obviously not essential)
    I was always really conscious about his room because it has a normal single bed and a cot in it so not much room for anything else, we have built in wardrobes and we bought some 2 sets of keys plastic drawers to go inside them to fit his clothes in (they filled both that's how much we had😳), although at Christmas I put icicle lights that we already had around his room and bought some lights from wish for £1 (I know but they're actually good😂) we left them up for when he went into his own room and it looks much nicer! We never had a changing table, just a mat that was £3 from Matalan and it's perfect for what it's needed for.
    Sorry this comment is so long🙈😂 great video!!😁

      haha don't apologise, sounds like you're doing super well!! omg actually that's one thing i wish we had - a prep machine! i expressed and he was combi bottle fed half me half formula and oh my goodness trying to panic make a bottle for a screaming baby when the kettle won't boil fast enough / water won't cool quick enough was a NIGHTMARE. would def get a prep machine next time x

    Your idea of putting a pouch of nappies ect into your normal backpack is actually brilliant! And you’re definitely right about people loving to gift baby clothes, I’m always buying Frugi clothes for my sisters kids because they’re just too cute🥰 but so unnecessary! They don’t need more clothes! 🤦

    Love this video Yasmin :) I've recently been in this Pregnancy Pandemic group on Facebook and its super toxic with so much pressure to spend spend spend for babies and have the perfect nursery etc.
    Second hand helped us so much! We just got a £850 bugaboo pram for £150 on Gumtree! We are trying reusable nappies this time too (also have bought these second hand - - not as gross as it sounds) but thanks for the Aldi heads up!

    • @YasminJohal
      @YasminJohal  Před 4 lety

      yeah I found groups like that just made me compare myself to everyone else so I left them all way before remy was born! very toxic environments which is a shame because they can be useful if you have questions or want advice. amazing I'm so glad you've managed to find some bargains already!! :D so happy for you guys btw I think I already said but your little family is so cute and it's going to get CUTER

    This was informative and makes me want a baby, ha. However, I think my issue is we can't afford childcare (post maternity leave) and also can't afford for only one of us to work. I don't know how people do it :(

    • @YasminJohal
      @YasminJohal  Před 4 lety +1

      universal credit pay 85% of your childcare if you're under a certain income which is how a lot of people manage!

    Great video! My child is 3 and a half now, but I’m sure I could have used some of your advice back when I was 21, pregnant, totally clueless, and had to rely on my family and a shit maternity pay. Also I can definitely relate to the fact that we’re continuously exposed to these often unrealistic/unreachable standards in regards to baby nurseries and clothes. My kid still sleeps in our room cos that’s all we have. He certainly hasn’t been complaining about the room decor for now 😂 But yeah obviously as parents we learn as we go and realise that certain things have a priority ✨❤️

    • @YasminJohal
      @YasminJohal  Před 4 lety +1

      right there with you with the whole 21 and totally clueless thing haha! we definitely do learn as we go and there's nothing wrong with that, remy is 2 and has his own bedroom now but literally just uses it to sleep in! x

    Not planning on getting pregnant but if I got pregnant now I would be in a similar position as you were in so still very interesting!! :) Just curious: why do you need to get a car seat brand new?

    • @YasminJohal
      @YasminJohal  Před 4 lety

      because unless you're literally getting it from a close friend, you don't know the history of the seat, probably won't have the instructions, vital parts could be missing without noticing, and if it was previously involved in a crash it may not be fully working but the seller may have been unaware. basically it's just unsafe x

    This was lovely! A word of warning about toys. You have to keep a close eye on them. I swear we started out our family life with one little box of duplo bricks for our baby & toddler and maybe a few books. I did feel a bit ashamed that they had so few toys, but they didn't seem bothered. It made a couple of our moves much easier. But then I got distracted with other things and when I turned around we had a TON of toys and I have no idea when or how it happened. I think they multiplied among themselves when we weren't watching. So keep a close eye on them!

    • @YasminJohal
      @YasminJohal  Před 4 lety +1

      haha same thing happened to us! I have clear outs every few months but I still come across toys sometimes and have NO idea where its come from 😂 I think people are smuggling remy toys without me noticing!
