My first GF grew up here, her sister still lives in Majori by the river in their parent's house. So watching this now hurts a bit, it feels like my heart shrinks. We parted decades ago after a short romance (well, that's what she called it), but it was an intense and sudden one. Besides the first one is special, nothing compares to that. Shame "the first" did not turn into "the only one" with "happy ever after".
great environment ,great interview, great video, lovely Beach.
Thank you my friend… I’m glad you enjoyed!👍👌
Those staff at 4:07 probably don’t get paid much 😀. They don’t have enough motivation to be more welcoming, looks like. It’s not that uncommon, I guess, but it’s much less than it used to be. This kind of “customer service” was very normal during soviet times. I still think they could be at least polite. I’m sure it wasn’t the first time you came across such reception.
Otherwise, it looks like a proper party beach. More than it used to be in my time there. I have been to couple of concerts there back in the day, but it’s not my kind of beach. Too busy. It’s good if you’re looking for some entertainment though. Thanks for the video, Justin! It’s interesting to see how familiar places have changed over time.
That house at 6:50 with cameras and security hut is actually the official Jūrmala residence of the president of Latvia. Built in 1971, renovated in early 2000s with kinda crazy interior design and again made much more modern in 2020.
That building at 2:57 is a former public bath and recreation facilities belonging to Mrs. Emīlija Rācens . It was very popular back in 1930's . The building was built at the beginning of the 20th century and expanded in 1914. , when for the first time in this part of Jūrmala the bathing house offered a variety of baths - with warm seawater, carbonic acid, oxygen and coniferous essence - every day, both in winter and summer.
Hello Sandris… thank you for watching and filling me in with this information my friend. That’s very interesting!😄👍👌
@@J.E.E Just to clarify any Russians can't stay in Latvia if they are pro Putin anti Ukrainian types regardless of any investment, also if they want PR or citizenship they have to learn Latvian.
13:23 the most beautiful view in all of Latvia
Indeed if that is on the menu, then who I am to say no?! LOL
@@chubbawubba6959 Yeah wasnt a fan of her eye roll..
Lie down on the sun is the right path to go to the hospital. Crazy people 🤯 Great video Justin, thank you!

You know it mate😆… cheers!👍👌
Been looking forward to part 2!
Thank you for staying tuned mate… hope you enjoy it!👍👌
The Japanese musician mentioned in the video, who learned Latvian, got to be Masaki Nakagawa. He has a CZcams channel, I've been subscribed to it for a while, but honestly don't watch it often, since I'm more into extreme metal, blues and jazz, while he mostly plays pop music.
Great video Justin, another for my bucket list!
Thanks for watching again mate, cheers!👍👌
pt2 ! oooooh yeah ! I've been waiting for this video all day! very nize my friend!

Beautiful beach and charming architecture, plus a delicious looking burger.. great video! I'm just wondering if you missed the market on the way home or not?

@@J.E.E Very small world, I lived in Wildwood in 1991. That is a great and super fun place, to live or visit.
@@chubbawubba6959 a very small world my friend.
I worked in stores on the boardwalk in the summer of 91 and 92.
How cool, so you knew exactly what I was talking about.
@@newcvotel I do for sure, I had a blast there still have a friend who has a vacation home there now. I have not been there in a couple of years but do like to try and at least get a good weekend there in the summer.
Not much there
Thinking of going to Riga and then a day trip to Jurmala in summertime - BUT, can you tell me honestly, is it full of drunk Brits Abroad???! That's exactly what I don't want! Many thanks.
13:50 - LoL , common, Justin, were you really expecting anything spicy from local cousine? Remeber one of your earlier videos - Indian restaurant in Riga has "downspiced" versions of their dishes for us - locals. XD
P.S. Besides I got to disagree on "Excellence" being the best ice-cream. Competition in Latvia is tough, and my family prefers "Rūjiena" and "Mājas" brands, and there are others too.
When was this filmed??? Probably in July or August... No way the temperature is 30-32C in the middle of September
That waitress is mighty cute. Good videos.
When was this filmed? This can't be in September??
Looks amazing here, does anyone know how much sunbed hire be for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella, is there a cheap place to hire as dont fancy paying 30 euros! Cheers 🙂
As a norwegian I am not very impressed by your latvian to be honest, even though I am very impressed by your russian, spanish and french. To me latvian feels quite a bit easier to learn than russian for example. Supposedly latvian is hard to learn for foreigners due to sounds in the language. But for me they are quite easy to learn I feel. Ļ for example is almost identical to a sound in my norwegian dialect. And we have rolling R in common. Both in standard norwegian and my dialect.
Hello mate and thank you for watching.
So happy to hear you are having good progress with you Latvian language.
As for me, I have just recently started to learn it, and feel quite confident it won't take me very long to be quite proficient!!!
Keep watching my development and give me more feedback.
@@J.E.E Mate good thing you're learning it. I suggest use your own advice and try to speak it as much as possible, starting with the simple phrases when going in a shop or a restaurant, like "Sveiki", "lūdzu vienu burgeri", "Cik tas maksā", "Paldies", "Visu labu" and so on. When you run out of your latvian words, just start speaking english again. :D But i'd recommend avoiding russian, because local Latvians can get upset, when a foreigner or really anyone approaches them in russian. Good luck in your learning mate!
@@J.E.E How do you know Russian, French and Spanish so well? Did you study languages at university?
A Brit via migration, you are still a jersey guy you don't loose that accent by moving!
Try again mate👍
O, I love "Brainstorm" since Soviet Union time.
Weird since they started in the 90s.
I wonder how police did not stop You riding that red electric bike on Jomas street. I was there on a bicycle few years ago going realy slow and they charged me with 7 EUR fine. It's pedestrian 100%. I did not see the sign though. It was covered with a hanging flowerpot.
Many face of author.
👍
Fuck me, that bird is banging
👍👌
4:01 typical Latvian customer service
😆😆😆
Are latvians sympathetic in general ? compared to russians ?
I find most people to be nice and friendly... But I would say similar as they are both northern.
Nice video. But if you liked Ekselence ice cream you would have an orgasm after Skrīveri ice cream.
And regarding Latvian beaches. You can walk almost entire 500 km of beaches not leaving the seaside. I say almost because there are some short places where it is not possible - mostly where sea ports are. It makes really cool walking trails. And on the seaside there are a lot of small but cozy camping spots where to spend the night.
Your from
England mate!
@@J.E.E cool
Are you lover of fake smiles Justin?
Yes my favorite thing in the world🤣
people really dont like English tourists it seems
nah we're generally dickheads
