- This is the story behind our incredible dream. Against all odds, the greatest of great escapes.
Deducted 17 points on the eve of the season and heading out of The Football League due to crippling debts, the Cherries, who were on their third manager of the season, famously survived thanks to a monumental effort from the players and staff.
Eddie Howe and his playing squad from that season help tell the story which gave the club the foundation it has in the Premier League today.
This documentary was first aired on afcbTV in April 2019. - Sport
Eddie Howe is one of the best if not the best ever
I totally agree. He has the potential to be Sir Alex esc kinda manager when he retires. He’s an amazing manager and we are so grateful to have him. Hope you lot stay up this season! Played some good football. We’ll help you today be smashing Southampton
Best football club, one day will be in europe
Yeah even though I do not support them they might Champions League
Kingter Gaming I reckon if they get European football it will be in Europa
Tottenham Fan Reactions I reckon we are going down this season thanks to injurys
@@ejsw708 good prediciton
right?
The feeling is like playing Football Manager leading a lower league team with insecure funds to where they are today.
Came here as a Toon fan doing a bit of a deep dive into Howe and left super moved by this video. Great story for those of you who lived it week by week, game by game. Hopefully we'll see you lot in the PL next season with Howe performing similar wonders for us.
Whatever happens you’ve got a good guy there
(And half our players😂😂)
@@FinHughesMac pep picked Ake
He's a hero. And probably one of the only managers in history where he is still loved completely and want to see him succeed. He save bouremouth from extinction and some
I've got tears in my eyes to think what could of happen....thank you Eddie, JT and the rest of the boys for saving our beloved club. UTCIAD 🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒
Let’s be honest, we all watched the Steve fletcher goal over and over and over again.
What a great film. Was behind them all the way - Newcastle have picked up a gentleman and a diamond in Eddiy Howe.
What an amazing story/journey. Even though I am not a Bournemouth supporter and knew the story before watching, this gives me goosebumps too. Would like to see another documentary on their rise from League 2 to Premier League.
This season will always be with me as the best team we ever had, yes we've had better players on paper, but the heart these lads showed that season will never be beaten. 46 years a Cherries fan and its still me best memory!! UTCIAD!!
Amazing club and story! Eddie done an amazing job for you lot! We love you already Eddie!
Hes amazing. More managers should look up to him
Im not a Bournemouth fan but damn this is a good documentary.
What a club. Born a fan, my grandpa was an apprentice in the early 60’s and I still follow with love and passion from Australia.
Shows what a family club Bournemouth is that when I was in England a year ago I popped on with my grandfather unannounced. Neil Vacher stopped what he was doing and came down to show us around the ground. Emotional for my grandpa and a dream come true for me to be on the pitch. He then went and found an old programme that had a photo and little player profile of my grandpa.
What a great man Neil is and what a club they are. Up the cherries
Big Cherries fan , my hometown team. Eddie Howe has worked magic with the club - one of the best managers in football.
Credit must also go to the backroom guys and all involved to make our beloved team great again.
What a phenomenal story. All the best Bournemouth fc. From celtic fan 🍀🍀🍀
What an incredible turnaround and emotional journey. I watched this from being a Newcastle fan and love of Eddie, but have to say I’m delighted Bournemouth are in the PL, it really is what dreams are made of 🎉
As an NUFC fan, after this season, Eddie Howe is ready for ANYTHING!
Potentially future England manager in the making, absolutely incredible, incredible story, amazing season, expectional effort & commitment from everybody involved to make this season happen. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Together, anything is possible. Scales of success obviously vary from club to club, but anywhere there is disharmony there are problems which resonate on to the pitch. Since 2009, give or take a couple of seasons, we've been very lucky to have a consistency in personnel which us helped us to get where we are - what a story. UTCIAD 🍒
Back of the Net - The AFC Bournemouth Fans Channel I’m gonna sub to you amazing channel you have! From a spurs fan.
Greatest story in English football
Yesterday I was telling this amazing story to some friends, they could not believe it. I will show them this documentary.
I want this team back in the premier League at any cost, love from Kolkata, India.
Mostyn and Howe are heroes
I've spent the best summer of my life in 2009 with my friends Linda and Edo after graduated from high school in Bournemouth..I've watched the first games of the season that took Cherries to League One again with Eddie on the sideline..Always with You lads..C'mon Bmth..
To any doubters who say we are a small club, don’t deserve to be in the Premier League or any other derogatory comments you need to watch this. Only then will you appreciate what this great Club has achieved and where it has come from to take it’s place in the greatest league in the World. Is there a better story in football ever? COY🍒🍒🍒
Celtic winning the European cup with the full team from the same area.. Bournemouth not far off it though
No words what a story thank you class 2008/2009 ... you our heros
I'm from morocco , your story is like a fairytail
This needs more than a documentary , like a movie
What a story, some unreal characters and special people at your club, after seeing the real detail of this story, it's no surprise how Eddie came into my club Newcastle when we were bottom of the league and has done what he's done. Thankyou Bournemouth for helping mould such a brilliant young manager.
What a man Eddie Howe , he's only gone and done it at Newcastle United as well / but this must be his biggest achievement with Bournemouth and taking them to the PL
Welcome to Celtic Eddie Hail Hail
???
Nufc fan here. This aged well..
@@methik38 Ideed it did! We got Ange and couldn't be happier.
@@TWS001 yes! Awesome to see. Good luck mate.
@@methik38 And Eddie's doing brilliantly at Newcastle proving he's an excellent coach. All the best mate!
Eddie howe.... just wow. How can anyone not love the man ❤
So many memories. Bringing big fletch back saved us
This video gave me goosebumps at the end and that is from a Southampton fan. Unbelievable story and fair play to all the players and staff that kept your club alive in difficult times 👏
It's one thing to read a lot about this season but it's a whole different experience to watch this documentary. Football isn't just about scoring goals. It teaches life lessons. Massive respect for all the staff, the players, the fans and individuals who tried their best till the last shred of hope and energy to keep the club afloat on and off the pitch. Every football fan must watch this and be reminded that it's not about football, it's a documentary about life. Yes, I'm crying.
One of the best football documentaries that i've seen. What a rollercoaster that must have been. I'm glad we have the pleasure of Eddie Howe in Newcastle now.
Remember that season 🍒 I was 12 in 2008 and a mascot against Dagenham and Redbridge on a tuesay night in October 👍
One of the best football stories, it will be great to see the cherries in EPL again. Love from Kolkata, India.
I stumbled across this video as a West Brom fan, searching for our own "great escape" (04/05 season, we were bottom of the league on christmas day with only 10 points and a goal difference of -26, basically the same as this season!). Just wanted to say this documentary was great and im very glad the cherries survived and are who they are today, great club and great to watch.
I'm not a Bournemouth Supporter but I don't care who you are or who you support you've got to respect the rise from the divisions.
Ever since I watched the Cherries at our first visit to Wembley, I have had a soft sport for Bournemouth. Especially, after meeting the fans in a pub afterwards. They were so gracious in defeat. It's because of those fans that I didn't want the club to go under nor get relegated. However, I didn't want it to be at our expense, which it was eventually was. What was the difference? Firstly, you had a great manager and man in Eddie Howe (a very nervous looking and baby faced defender in that 1998 Wembley final), Secondly, you had a bunch of players who cared. In contrast, we had a team who were out on the razz most nights and didn't give a toss.
i live in jamaica chelsea is my team but hats off to you lads this is why i love football n football my friends is life to me.
What a brilliant story 🙌🏼
Got me very tearful this amazing story amazing club so proud to support this side
I'm a manchester united fan and this randomly came on as a next video 👏 👏 👏 you've gained my respect, watched the whole video and enjoyed the story
I already commented when I watched this a year ago and Eddie kept us up. But this came back up again and it’s currently 3am and I’m going to the match vs Southampton today.
What a story this is. Watched this in full again and I cried. Seeing how young Eddie and Jason are here. Two men that would have Spurs smashed 5-0 in 20 minutes. Both men are amazing coaches and managers. Eddie Howe (and Jason) are Mr Bournemouth. Eddie deserves a stature outside your ground! But he’s sure gonna get one outside ours. First full season and he gets us a league cup final and (it’s done now isn’t it?) champions league football. This man has went from league 2 relegation battle to a champions league manager. Best manager in the country bar none. Pep couldn’t do this! Maybe Klopp but other than that?
We all love you in Newcastle Eddie! Our best manager since Sir Bobby!
Bournemouth you lot have all us Geordies respect and you are our second team now! All the best to stay up this season. Us Geordies are behind you! Eddie Howe’s black and white army ⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️
Came out to OZ in 58, Cherries fan, the boys were in the 3rd div Sth. Wonderful memories, catching the trolley bus down Holdenhurst Rd and getting in early to stand behind Ken Bird and then Tommy Godwin in goal. Saw boys beat Spurs and get robbed by Man Utd in the cup. AH memories.
63 years of watching AFCB. Now living the dream after the nightmares!
As a Rangers supporter I can absolutely simpothise with every Bournemouth Supporter who had to go through the bad times and watch as they thought the were slowly loosing there club forever. To witness how far this Club as come from then is unbelievably impressive when you look at the divisions you have to climb to reach the Premier League. Good luck for the season ahead.
Like Brighton, Rose from the flames of Armageddon to fly like a Phoenix to Footballs heaven, The Premier League.
Great doc. Love that stadium.
Great inspiration to many
That is a nice documentary. Well done.
My town and my club. So proud.
Amazing documentary
I was glued from start to finish, could make a film about AFCB, from collecting money in buckets to climbing the leagues and being an "established PL club" Sir Eddie Howe is the man, as we all know.... A legend in his own lifetime. Never say die.. AFCB 🍒
A brilliant documentary. I’m part of a family of West Ham fans but Bournemouth is my dad’s local team. Looking fwd to seeing them in the prem this season
I never heard about this story before since I'm not from the UK. But it sure it a great one!
Please can we have a sequel? About how we got to the prem?
Eng subs???? Wonderful!!!🍒🍒🍒😁
Hail hail eddie
EDDIE HAD A DREAM ON MINUS 17
Never would we have a better manager to keep steering us to uncharted territories - always for the better. Really the club should have moved heaven and earth to get Eddie back, even though they should have done just that to keep him!
Unreal. Good luck to the Cherries tomorrow.
4-0, Toon.
🍀WELCOME🍀
Shame the situation with Scott Parker getting sacked for speaking negatively of club board.
Scott wanted out because he wasn't going to get extra funds for "super players", plus he couldn't see us staying in the league with the way that he wanted to play, so, he did the only thing that he knew that would get him sacked.
FIFA 20 career mode with AFC Bournemouth, here we go ;)
Wasnt there another documentary back in 2015 or 2016? I cant seem to find it.
がんばれボーンマス
@1:17:51 me with my walking stick !
Did button ever record a save?
I'd like to think that those Bournemouth fans will have apologised for those deaththreats
👏👏👏🍒
Deid, like Rangers.
And how can some say football isnt beautiful
Eddie had a dream on minus 18
As a lifelong season ticket holder I miss match days so hopefully we’ll be back next season at some point 🍒
Just imagine if he shock instead of nodded.
Well, it's a good thing he nodded.
Those 5 dislikes are from salty Chelsea fans (H2H)
I mean 17
Is he a millionaire pay it
AAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaalbion...

Can someone translate it for the Turks
They stayed up by 9 points, a bit misleading but great story
Death threats because of football? Too many sickos out there...get a life!
Son of the bitch lets go championships pathetic players défense attak
Eddie Howe >>>>>>>>>>>>>Gareth Southgate. Give him the job now!
Very boring documentary
Muppet
This is a documentary that should be watched by all football fans. I love this club and the Grimsby game is probably the only time I've seen my grandad cry
Eddie Howe, I can safely say even as a Liverpool fan, that he is one of the best managers in the BPL, such immense potential to be one of the Elites.
BPL? Seriously?
Yes bpl? Welsh teams also compete they aren't English
Look forward to having him at the Toon 🖤🤍🖤🤍
I'm a Chelsea fan but this is a great story and I have nothing but respect for Eddie Howe. Good luck this season lads.
I have said this before. All this talk about klopp and pep. The body of work that Howe has done is far better. From a man utd-fan.
I'm not a Bournemouth fan but I'm subscribed cuz I watched a few documentaries on the club n loved it. Top top club hope they stay in the prem for a while
LETS GO :)
EDDIE HAD A DREAM
UTCIAD 🍒🍒🍒 Great documentary! Would like to think this is shown to every player that joins the club so they understand how far the club has come.
Thanks for this, thanks to Eddie and the squad and staff. Let’s go Cherries! 🍒🍒
Got something in my eye....UTCIAD
Great film, brought back some amazing memories 🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒
I was there at exeter and it is still one of the best matches I've watched! Brett pitman was excellent that night.
