I've always appreciated Paul Burrell ~ the Queen and Diana chose well. He has a good heart and I certainly don't begrudge him any success or celebrity he has gained since the death of his beloved employer. Thank goodness Diana had 'her rock' in Paul. Someone needed to give her that kind of love and support on a daily basis.

Diana got what she needed from Paul as a employee then friend. Paul also got what he needed from her, a friendship with boundaries. I must say this, that the only thing that makes an aristocrat an aristocrat is how much money and land they have. Who cares about the bloodline. We all have bloodlines. If you trace any aristocratic bloodline , it would start with a man , usually, earning a living then buying land and animals. Then hopefully more is accumulated and you start getting wealthy. Well, when you die your son usually inherits all your hard earned money and estate. Then, the generational wealth continues. It really is stupid to think that Diana's sister thinks she is better than Paul simply because she's from the Spencer family. I know there history thank you. It's always about money, bottom line. How superficial.

Everyone need a Paul, someone they can trust 100%. When she had no one there she could trust or felt friendless, she had Paul. He understood her & protected her, he knew she was very young for her age. She needed a best buddy & protector. It was Di herself that made Paul much more than just a servant. After her death, I think Paul might have kept her things entrusted to him for her sons, not to sell so that whole thing was a slap in the face for Paul. He loved her boys like family. He was one of the last people she talked to before the accident. I think most of us heard about that conversation which was her hoping her doctor boyfriend was jealous enough about her time with Dodie to make a move. Their relationship had gone on long enough in secret & she didn't like that. He can write all the books he wants now, the Royals have very few secrets left from back then & him writing about his life is fine in my book, I'd buy it!

The reason Queen Elizabeth II suddenly remembered during Burrells trial that he had told her he had taken Princess Diana’s belongings for safe keeping was because Burrells defense Barristers intended to call the Queen to give evidence in court. Can you imagine that? No! Neither can I. The man is not only an opportunist but also a liar. For instance he turned down 1 million then 2 million pounds for his book but accepted £350.000 from the Daily Mirror to serialize snippets from his book, knowing full well that the book would sell through such blatant free advertising through the Mirror to bring him so much more wealth. Unfortunately many of those who worked with him, did not want to talk about him, some have, but he was certainly NOT her confident he was an ambitious opportunist looking out for himself, he was cheating on his wife with other men, she had no idea, he stole Diana's property, saying he was saving them, because her mother and sisters were shredding things which was their right! Many of her servants stole from her, he was one of them! The Princes are disgusted by his behavior, and do not view him as her defender or "keeper" of her legacy! The only reason he isn't in prison, is because Charles did not want his sons to suffer any more emotional pain, and it was time to let the whole thing rest!
