  • There is so much time between flights on my new larger EDFs, that I often forget the details of the trimming I needed on my flights before.
I also have to much telemetry audibles being called out and it's very distracting. I only want time and voltage. the voltage is set for 30 call outs, but at times it just continuously gives it over and over. I'm using an NX10.
I again forgot to retract my takeoff flaps. so I did the whole flight with them extended. Didn't seem to affect it too much. it still flew well through all maneuvers that way.
    But!!
when I went to full flaps (landing flaps) I lost all rolll control and could not turn it left. it would go right... on its own.
I know that Jon from Two brothers mentioned flaperon challenges. So did RC Geek. RC Geek mentioned that roll control was lost with flaps extended. He solved it the same way Dirk here did.... by adding elevon input to help roll control with flaperons down only.
well. I only learned that from them after I had this flight.
But. It's all good. An easy fix, I hope.
I hate flaperons. But the F-16 uses them. Oh well.

I'd be screaming at my radio "SHUT THE F UP!!" 😂 Great save though 👍

Had the same thing happen with mine. Dropped flaps and it climbed uncontrollably with no ability to bank. I realized I'd set my elevator compensation in the wrong direction. Works ok now. I do use tailerons for roll control with flaps down.

I'm planning to add tailerons with full flaps as well. Not quite flying season yet here. A few more weeks or a month.

Wow that took an experienced pilot to pull that off. Did you throw it back in safe?

No. That's the one thing I never think of when I'm in the moment. I love having Safe there just in case... but I also tend to get preoccupied trying to save the plane that I never remember to use safe. Kind of weird huh?

I have the same plane and I don't use flaps I find the f16 don't need it. I land mine in high alfa and lands nice and slow that way. I would suggest you to try with about the flaps. You will also have more control on the landings. Give it practice and it won't use much runway at all. For takeoff and landings. The plane doesn't stall very easily either

@williamlane6374 yeah. I may go that route. I'm not one to mess with original stock setups if I don't have to. I did with the FW F-18 because I had blue box issues and I wanted more precise adjustments on my stabs individual sub trims to get them matched. But I hope I don't have to on my next one

@markhyde43 yup I bypassed my FW f18's blue box also

When your altitude is so high and your far out there so much that your losing orientation? its time to fly alittle lower and closer in to your standing position.

I know. The challenge with these larger EDFs, which are very new to me, is that they take more space to turn because of their size.. AND... everyone's yelling... "don't let it get slow. It will stall!!" So it ends up farther away than I would otherwise do with smaller EDF's.

@@markhyde43 Yes i understand that part for sure but you can fly slower with a lower setting of take off flaps as well to do slower speeds and tighter turns

@looneytunes47 I hope to get it dialed in to where I can keep it in closer and tighter confidently like I can the 70mm.

@@markhyde43 Yes Jets a real challenge fo sure but so rewarding when you do manage the fly with control and confidence.
