Welcome to Modern Homestead Alaska. We are located in South Central Alaska near the town of Wasilla. Living in Alaska and building our dream of “modern Homesteading” through the wilds of winter and the long summer days. We started building our Modern Homestead in 2021. We have since completed the upper levels of our home. Built a 16x16 foot chicken coop that dreams are made of. Our chicken ladies live in luxury as they view the beautiful lake from large windows inside the beautiful coop. We raise our own poultry, hunt for our food. We are avid fisherman And woman. We also built an amazing and beautiful wood shed. We have great big garden planes for the future. Join us as we dream big dreams and live everyday working hard to accomplish them.

If you want an easy way to remember the difference between stock and broth…stock is not something you would eat by itself (it tends to be a base only and adds so much flavor to your dish)-broth is like the soup liquid and can be enjoyed by itself. ❤ I had to learn this when I was going to culinary school many years ago. I love watching your channel.

Hi Jessica, the homemade meatballs look really good, I kinda make them the same way you do. My problem is, I eat them so fast like my meatloaf. Chicken soup, you can never hate chicken soup. One of my favorite soups I make is Rabbit soup or stew, Mmmm! Mmmm! so good. Thanks for sharing.

We make a lot of soups in the winter months. My husband makes his chicken broth. He keeps it on the stove for twenty four hours. We season our broth too. Yum nothing like a hot bowl of chicken soup. Take care my friend. Stay warm. I’m looking forward to the next video✌️🇺🇸❤️

Hi Jessica and sweet family! Nothing like homemade chicken stock, so delicious. I use a cookie scoop to for meatballs and flash freeze or pressure can them, makes it so easy.
I made homemade taco soup this week, so good and one of my favorites.

😮I have had a hankering for two meatball dishes. Spaghetti and Swedish MB with a tasty white sauce. The meat has been processed, scooped into ball form and frozen. Today I am leaning towards Swedish style with extra large noodles.

So interesting about not liking ground beef after being sick. Took me and my coworker over a year to be able to smell or eat beef without gagging. I like your cooking style on meatballs. 😊

It will come back to normal but it can take a long time. Onions smelled rancid to me for a very long time n now my smell is back not perfect but. my taste still isn't back I have some sometimes and it's been 2.5 years....😢 im praying for full restoration!
@@monahardy978 I’ll claim full restoration for you! Onions and meat smelled like rancid meat for me too. All I could eat that tasted normal was tortillas. Much getter now, but Sprite still tastes like Pin-sol and dour cream tastes like freezer burnt wet dog hair. Ha! 2 years out for me. Be blessed friend!
The big C turned me off of store bought bread. I could smell and taste every chemical. Now, only homemade bread in my house.
@@whitestone4401 It was like that for Mr. Reeve for a long time too. And I always smelled something rotting. I explained it as, I could smell the fermented undertones of even dish soap. Drove me nuts!

Your soup looks delicious! I love homemade soups even in the summer. I agree with you about flavouring your broth, i always add vegetables and spices to the broth as is simmers for hours but I do roast my bones weather it’s poultry or beef before I throw it in the stockpot for even more richness, Darn, now I have to go make some soup! Have a great day and I’ll be waiting for your next video.

@@modernhomesteadalaska another thing I do, I’ll make huge pots of soups and freeze individual size serving and I also boil 3 or 4 different types of noodle and freeze in snack size bags to add to the soup I chose for that day, when you live alone, it makes perfect sense and you always have a hardy delicious soup without mushy noodles anytime you want a bowl, it’s quick and very little clean up

Hi Jessica I brought a water 💦 filter machine that cost a lot to me $200 I don’t like the taste @ all. Enjoying life like I want to. I made Meatballs beef for my son I eat the turkey myself he doesn’t like it 11-3-2023👍🏽👍🏽❤️
