Welcome to Modern Homestead Alaska. We are located in South Central Alaska near the town of Wasilla. Living in Alaska and building our dream of “modern Homesteading” through the wilds of winter and the long summer days. We started building our Modern Homestead in 2021. We have since completed the upper levels of our home. Built a 16x16 foot chicken coop that dreams are made of. Our chicken ladies live in luxury as they view the beautiful lake from large windows inside the beautiful coop. We raise our own poultry, hunt for our food. We are avid fisherman And woman. We also built an amazing and beautiful wood shed. We have great big garden planes for the future. Join us as we dream big dreams and live everyday working hard to accomplish them.

Nice dinner, we use to do Sunday dinners at Grandma's house. She was such a good cook. Best meal my kids had every week since I wasn't a good cook. Your a natural and I know your family loves it.

Your Sunday family meal looked delicious! When I was growing up, Sundays were always family meals, no exceptions and we had some out of the ordinary meals as well just for fun, we had fondues, ethnic themed meals, big turkey meals or beef roast and we even had what we called the hat meal, we would all write two different food items on separate pieces of paper fold it and put in the hat, mom would shake the hat to mix things up then the youngest child would start by picking out a paper then on to the next person until 4 or 5 items were picked then it was up to mom to pick a meat item to best suit our crazy picks, we had some interesting meals to say the least but we had fun and it always got eaten, I loved those nights!

@@modernhomesteadalaska it was fun, I forgot to mention that we picked the items out of the hat the night before so mom had time to be creative and pull out meat from the freezer lol, we did help her of course with cleaning vegetables and setting the table, whatever we could do without getting in the way hahaha
That dinner looked fantastic! I have always found that just the simple addition of cloth napkins made our every-day meals seem like a party!
I am like you when it comes to goat cheese, not my first choice in a long run! The rest of the appetizers looked enticing. You have set me in the mood for a pork roast! I used to make those individual desserts when the kids were home. They did not make it to leftover status!

yum looked fab Jessica. The brie i could smell from here... love it. The 'stuff ' on top is the best part, the crust! we beg for it!! Another lovely cheese to eat baked is Camembert, now that is even yummier.. Dinner was hit by the looks of things. Thanks for sharing as always Jessica.

Beautiful, love cooking a Sunday lunch for my family - next time you do roast potatoes try using oregano to top it then once cooked sprinkle green onions or sometimes I do parmesan cheese to roast and then green onions - yum lol

my nana did Sunday til she got sick with cancer n did maybe 2 more once she.came.home from hosp then shortly returned to hosp n passed in 74. but we did everyweek til then n I was 8 n I'd make Sunday dinners but it was just me n popa as my mom would eat watching TV n my brother was off living n going to college in az. but I did it with my k8ds n grandkids ti prob 2012 some kids had grow up n moved away some at college some married with k8ds . that daughter her hubby n k8ds lived across the street n came even when her hubby at work she came with boys. which I had everyday from birth til school full time then I had in am fed breakfast n put on bus she was off work by the time they got home . I miss family dinners so happy Thanksgiving coming up

Love Monopoly!!! I am always the banker!! I DOLE out the mulahhh..I grew up in Vermont and my dad had a place on Lake Champlain and we had a fishing shanty and we would put tipups outside the shanty! I am 50 now (yikes) and have lived in Florida since I was 21…I sometimes miss it.

My in laws always had a Sunday brunch for whoever came…eggs, homemade egg bread, lots of bacon, sausage links and home made dessert …….they had a movie going in the family room……a big puzzle on the large dining table to work on and board games in the basement rec room…..in the summer they’d make homemade ice cream or homemade tapioca with homemade lemon sauce……
All memories now……the next generation let it fall apart when they passed……no one gets together.
My new in laws always had family get togethers…especially homemade pizza rolls and chili Sunday and lots of homemade pumpkin pies in the Fall…….that too has left with their passing….it’s so sad so hang on with your tradition….keep it going……
We can’t just have a dinner with a few kids…our immediate family is 40 people and you can’t invite just a few so get togethers are limited ….our house can’t accommodate of all them so I wait and wait for someone to have a dinner together but it never happens.
Last year I asked No presents to just spend their money on prepping for their families…….but then they never made a date for Christmas get together….they had one with their Dad because he buys gifts and wants his gifts…….it was a 😢 holiday for me.
I’m so sad you can’t keep it going I however get the space constraint. It makes it hard for sure

No it was just up. It’s such beautiful hair
