  • GoPro Hero 8 Black with Media mod and a Purple Panda mic is the best MotoVlog setup I have used this far. No dongle to mess with and pretty damn good video and audio.

    3.5 MM info is great, Didn't know why I wasn't getting sound out of my kit! Thank you!!

    You saved me with this video. I had it plugged up earlier but I had the plug with the 3 lines and it wasn't working. Changed it to the adapter with the two lines and it worked.

    GoPro finally has a way of connecting an external mic. I still wish you didn't have to use the media mod but it's better than that ridiculous adaptor they had. Sounds great!

      Yeah, I think it's just a way to extort another 80 bucks from us...But I like it all the same..I will definitely be doing more riding videos now....

    If it's still not working for you then choose 'Standard Mic' option in the Mod settings of the Go Pro. For me the default was 'Powered mic' and it was not working.

    Thank you for this, that audio sounds amazing! Mine is usually pretty clear up until around 40-45... but it looks like you could probably go much faster with your setup with minimal wind noise. I might have to look into upgrading my cameras and mic's soon... Nice work man!

      Yeah, finally I have a decent setup....It was hell trying to put anything together with my old GoPro. I think I will be doing alot more riding videos now...Thanks for the nice words..I love your videos..

      @Power Slogans The only way I would see is if you bought the dreaded dongle they use with GoPro 7 and earlier...

    • @imyourhuckleberry357
      @imyourhuckleberry357  Před 4 lety

      @Power Slogans Media mod has been well worth it for me...Not only for the extra mics and the 3.5mm mic inputs but also you can charge your camera externally without having to open up the camera.

    i been struggling getting mine to not sound completely blown out. riding a MT10 though so i tend to have issues with wind noise lol

    • @imyourhuckleberry357
      @imyourhuckleberry357  Před 2 lety

      You know, I get a bit of wind noise but I have to be going 55 or 60 mph...Put a dead cat over the mic...Makes a big difference.

    Nice setup! I have the media mod as well but I use it as a vlogging camera and got tired of pulling it off the helmet. So, I bought another Hero 8 and keep it on the helmet (yeah, I bought the dreaded GoPro mic adapter). I like my purple panda mic too. I also have a Porshot to mount the camera. Oh yeah, you can also power the Gopro with that USB-C connection on the media mod without having a battery in the camera! Looks and sounds great!

      @@imyourhuckleberry357 I've tried the dual camera thing too, one on the helmet and one on the bars...I hated syncing it all up and decided that the juice just wasn't worth the squeeze. A couple of my earlier vids on the VTX were done that way. I just felt it was overkill.

    • @imyourhuckleberry357
      @imyourhuckleberry357  Před 4 lety +1

    Can you use the 3.5mm to usbc converter that comes with the panda setup or do you need the 3.5 2 ringed coverter

    • @imyourhuckleberry357
      @imyourhuckleberry357  Před 2 lety

      Personally I use the two ring converter that comes with the mic....Works perfect and as you can tell from my videos while I am riding wind noise is pretty much not an issue. Thanks for the question

    Hey so I just got the hero 8 black and media mod with the purple panda mic for my helmet! Where did you put the mic on your helmet? I have mine behind the cheek pad a bit and it’s hard to hear myself so wasn’t sure if I should put it directly in front of my mouth area.

    • @imyourhuckleberry357
      @imyourhuckleberry357  Před 4 lety

      Mine is clipped right in front, on the chin guard portion of my helmet...There are vent holes on the inside of my helmet and I was able to attach the mic clip to one of the vent holes...It's real secure...Yes, it's right in front of my mouth....

    I had this set up for a bit a few months ago but the popping from the peaking was super bad once I hit 60+mph.

  • @peterjones8546
    @peterjones8546 Před 3 lety

    My purple panda arrived today. I will use it with my gopro 8 with media mod. All I'm waiting on is my Rickrak gopro mount. So the adapter lets you plug a 3 ring mic into a 2 ring camera?

  • @doruraduta
    @doruraduta Před 3 lety

    The microphone does catch the sound when you hit the quick button start ? Or you must hit the turn on button and then start filming to work it?

    • @imyourhuckleberry357
      @imyourhuckleberry357  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes, you must turn on the camera first...Then hit the record button for the external mic to work....If you hit the instant record while camera is powered off it will use the cam mic instead of the external.

    • @imyourhuckleberry357
      @imyourhuckleberry357  Před 3 lety +2

      @@doruraduta Yeah, agreed...Having to buy something extra that should be on the cam in the first place is BS and the cam should recognise the external mic in any mode....But companies want us to spend money on thier products even though they absoy know it's not the best design.
