What would happen if the beautiful assistant is getting tired of the masked magician getting all the credit for these tricks, so she moves the blade to a different base? Will the mask magician have a serious hand injury, be on workers compensation, with the beautiful assistant taking over for the magician?

Frankly, it serves them right for trying to perform an effect they are not ready for.
Don't f#ck the feeling of your assistant, and respect them, you're going to need them for tricks like this.
Also, don't let people complain to the association of magician that you look fake, you might be forced to botch a trick to make people believe in it again!
