I feel you. Printers are getting faster and easier to use out of the box, but ultimate they're using a lot of the same components we always have been. The firmware made so made leaps and bounds and that means we still get access to it on some of our "antiquated" machines. Happy to continue putting these videos out and glad you're still carrying the flame!
@livedeliciously it's like I always say when people ask what the "best" printer out there is. The answer is it's the printer that suits your needs, and sometimes the need is tinkering and messing around .
This has been the single most helpful Klipper video that I have seen yet, it takes someone smart to explain something. It takes a genius expert to explain it in a way that everyone understands. I believe you are the latter. Thank You! I have a much better idea of what I am doing now.

The BEST tutorial on how to set up BL/CR Touch for Klipper! After I set the Z Offset then did multiple bed mesh levels adjusting my bed till I was happy with it. I had Zero need to do a live Z Offset! Bed level print came out beautiful! Thank you!

WOW I can't even begin to say how amazing this tutorial is. I had been fighting with setting up Klipper and stumbled across this video. I had watched numerous videos and none of them worked . I watched this video for close to 3 hours, only because i would pause the video and double check my steps and now my setup is complete. Everything working perfectly. keep up the amazing work. I've watched thousands and thousands of 3d printer video's . I almost never comment - but I couldn't not comment on this one. What a SPECTACULAR job you did on this video. It's thorough, easy to follow and understand and I have such a sense of satisfaction after re-performing all these tuning / aligning steps to my printer with your excellent guidance. Only thing you didn't cover is probe homing. My probe homed nowhere near the middle of the bed. I actually gained so much knowledge from this video - I already fixed that on my own. Just wanted to say thank you for your guide. I've put klipper on my ender 5 last year, but I've encountered so many issues with z offset that I stopped using it for a long time. I can finally understand how this works, the documentation was not really clear, it's been years that my ender 3 was not calibrate correctly because of this, you just solve my oldest issue. I can now finally use my entire bed :)

I have a modified SOVOL SV04 Idex with two Hemera instead of the stock ones. After two weeks messing around with X&Y Offsets for BL/CR Touch, Extruder 1 & 2 and the bed_mesh I was already at the point to throw everything out of the window. I can't thank you enough for this great video. Perfectly explained and with a clear & good structure. Now I've got my settings dialed in an the tip with the post-it and the marker was a "HEUREKA!" moment for me, getting precise Offsets not only for the Tpuch probe but also for my second Extruder! (I've wasted nearly 500g filament for all the calibration STLs) I've got exact 5 years Experience in 3D printing with MarlinFW but just one month with Klipper. And an IDEX printer. And a modified one . So again: THANK YOU!
Woah that's amazing!! Trying to get these settings correct for a single extruder printer can be tough, but being able to balance all this info and then apply it to a second extruder is another thing entirely!! First of all, I love your handle - that's very clever. But royalty you are!! This is an amazing video that helped me BIG TIME. I've been using my Ender 5 plus for about a year and just decided to try the Creality Sonic Pad. I was NOT able to complete a complete bed leveling because it wouldn't go to the final row, it would throw an error that it was printing out of range. None of the changes I made in the basic settings fixed it. UNTIL I came across YOUR video. Took a little to wrap my head around the math because my bed is 350x350x400 so I need to convert a bit. But I did,. and when I did, with your help, I was finally able to complete a FULL bed level. THANK YOU very much!!

Yea it's never all that easy, always some break in period, but I'm sure you'll be there soon. One thing I always remind people is even though the mesh showing some irregularities it doesn't mean it won't give you good prints. Sometimes we can get so caught up in getting everything exact we forget to see how well it is printing. Of course sometimes that isn't that case either and you need to hone it in a little more, but if you haven't tried a few prints with that mesh I'd say give it a shot and see how it looks .
You need to change the name of the video to not only for bl touch I am messing with my printer for a two weeks and this video was playing in the background when i am was tired of trying And I watched it because what can I lose? You have the solution and best explanation!! Thank you very much!!!

Finally a good tutorial on this. Thank you. I only got a bit lost at the end - the start and end g-code was a bit of a mystery. After a bit of research I found out that I should delete my start and end g-code in Cura and instead reference the same code entered into Klipper's printer config file instead.

Clear and concise, solved my problems with the dual 5015 fan mod V4 from ZUFF on cults that I purchased, which move the Creality touch a significant distance in both x and y axis's. All fixed with this Klipper tutorial. Relatively new to Klipper and love it.

I love Klipper and going forward I am going to have a lot of videos on Klipper. I would hazard you a little though, Klipper is great - the Sonic pad can be a little rough lol people who I've talked to that didn't have Creality made printers had a tough setting up the pad tk work with their printers. I'd recommend using an alternative MCU (my recommendation is the Inovato Quadra - which I have a video on). That being said thanks for watching and I appreciate the support!

@@PrintsLeo3D of course. I really appreciated the dive into the config settings. I'm still having issues with the z offset where it seems like too high one moment and too low the next, but I'm much closer!
One thing to remember when adjusting z offset. If you adjust it live make sure you save that adjustment directly after the print completes. There will be a small disc icon within the Tool section (next to where you adjust z offset) and that's what you'll use to save the recent adjustment. Hope this helps.
Ender 3 V2 4.2.2 Spirit extruder - Cr Touch - Dual axes Z. This video shared to me on a Facebook group to solve my setup issues. The best part of this video is that you didn't give us the values you showed us how to work out and find the correct values for our own system, this is the most important part. The correct values for OUR OWN SYSTEM ! top video Well done, I dont think my system would be up and running with out it. Word of advice to other users don't go searching for a printer cfg that you might think will work it didnt work for me. Following this video is the only thing that worked...

Because there are so many different shrouds, and probes, and printhead setups, the best way to teach this is to try and cover the basic idea and give you the tools to determine the values yourself. I have an ender and two bambus, I literally took the bambus out of the box and printing to this day 6 months later with 0 adjustments, what a time to be alive and use these next gen printers, I still find this video interesting and helpful even though I don't even have klipper :D
It's an amazing time! I am in a similar boat (although I have a few more Enders and other printers... actually a lot more lol), and I love this stuff. The advancements that BambuLabs have made is really going to accelerate the market to match what they have created. What I love about Klipper firmware is I think this is the firmware of those next gen printers. It has all the features of a firmware that can handle different printer setups and configurations and handle them uniformly across platforms. Also it can be blazing fast. I appreciate you watching and maybe we can get Klipper on that Ender one day ;)
Started printing just a couple months ago. For initial setup, I used a few other tubers videos to help me. They got me into great positioning for being new. Now, I’m to a point where I want to further refine my knowledge and print accuracy. you helped me set up my new to me ender 5 plus. you are the man! i got this thing with the sonic pad for 60 dollars since the previous owner thought it was broken since the sonic pad rendered the built in screen useless. Thank you, this video helped a lot. The only difference with a BTT version of Klipper is: it does not have a Tune menu but a HeightMap menu with a home and calibrate button...

Thank you! There’s something here that I haven’t seen anywhere and I believe is very important. When you are talking about maximizing the probe area, it is something that should be done as part of the setup ALWAYS. Specially if like me you installed a new horned configuration such as Voron Afterburner. Otherwise the (0,0) is totally off and prints aren’t centered
Yup, you're absolutely right. Maximizing the print area is just one of those things we all can forget about with the other stuff we focus on, but gaining space along the build plate can be extremely important. Thanks for commenting!
I have just recently gotten into 3d printing and naturally I go all in on learning new things I am interested in. Trying to learn how to set up Klipper has been a nightmare for me having little experience with setting up firmware. I had almost given up to just go back to my original firmware setup when I found this video and the explanation and guidance was far superior to a newbie than any other heavily technical videos I had previously watched. Thank you for taking the time to help guide others on this information because you have just turned my nightmare around. I am certainly subscribing and will be digging through other videos to see what else I can learn!

Just managed to install Klipper on a Wyse 3040 last night for the first time for my E3v2 and this got suggested by YT. Long live the algorithm. Best video on this topic, I was a bit in the dark about the BL Touch, all I had were some example configs I found around the net, but no explanation about why and how. Great job man

Wow wish I stumbled on your video a few days earlier when I was struggling with the bltouch. Your explanation is better than the Klipper documentation with the probe testing part... i might have avoided a crash on the bed, that only caused the PET support of my extrudeur to crack... thank god I had another printer to print it again. 😅

I have modded my E3V2Neo with Sprite Pro so had some challenges understanding all the limits for bed size etc since print head/gantry/endstops were all out compared to stock. Thank you for this guide, the part with assigning probge as an end switch helped me alot because klipper doesn't print in negative z coordinates and bed of my printer is all in negative, it was printing in air and now it finally started to print on bed.

NGL your vid help me all this time ago. I relized that i have a bltouch that was adapted for the ender 3 board which uses the Z Endstop as the sensor_pin. I was able to use the pinout of the btt board to find out I needed to change PC14 to PC2. Even thought you didn't really document. Your troubleshooting steps led me to the correct answer so thanks

Hi...I appreciated the effort you put into explaining the setup, @@PrintsLeo3D having a while ago tried to add the 3dtouch using th3d's marlin etc etc the Klipper experience is a game changer. Just bought a neptune 4pro which introduced me to it, sonic was obvious to add my cr6se and cr10s to. 1 question, I couldnt see where to add the bed mesh profile line to in my config, dosent have the start or end macro section anywhere in it, did a few random insert positions but kept telling an error. Or do I add the whole 15 lines or so not just the 1 bed mesh line. I did add it to the cura cr10s start profile which I hope works. thanx again.........
Because you're running some Creality printers the Sonic pad isn't a bad option, but unfortunately overall it can be a little tricky. I don't have the Sonic pad but it definitely does have a start_print (or print_start) macro somewhere. It doesn't necessarily have to be written within the printer.cfg but it will need to be "included". What I mean by "included" is that any macro can be written within a different text file and then pulled into the printer.cfg usually at the top of the printer.cfg you'll see a bunch of files being included, it would look like this: [Include macros.cfg] Then all the information within the text file macros.cfg would be used just like printer.cfg Using the include function is a way to clean up your files and make them easier to read. So if there is no print_start macro in printer.cfg then check what files are being included and see if it is one of those.

Good tutorial 👍 I really messed with myself by going to X and Y home instead of 0,0. I didn't see a way to manually input coordinates on KlipperScreen so just pushed those buttons 🤦 Anyway, I eventually managed to actually follow the instructions 🎉😅

This was great. Thanks Leo I did find out that the location of the BLT changes the math. I have the Biqu B1 and the BLT mounts in front and the math changed.
Yes it does. While the formulas stay the same, the idea is flipped. I didn't want to go into it too much in the video (to not confuse anyone) so I'm glad you were able to figure that all out yourself! Happy I helped and good luck !

Come across your video, I think great someone who has taken the time to explain…. So I watch and pause to do what your explaining get to the z offset do everything you say go to home to move on to next step bam nozzle crash’s the bed now I have to go to step one of printer setup and hope nothing is damaged…
That's what I'm here for!! Klipper is some awesome firmware, but some of it can seem unintuitive, especially coming from Marlin. Great video, it should come in handy when I finally start setting up klipper. Unfortunately, my fairly new, around 6 months old SKR Mini E3 V3.0 board died. It was really kind of strange as it was working fine until I turned it back on and there was nothing on the display. I have ordered a new board and hopefully it will last longer.
Wow that's a bummer. Did you reach out to Big Tree Tech (BTT) and find out if they offered any sort of refund or warranty. You should be getting more than 6 months out of a new board. On the bright side this gives you time to go over the Klipper process and get well acquainted with it by the time the new board arrives. Good luck!
@@PrintsLeo3D No, the warranty is 180 days. I am just over that. I was a bit premature. After messing around for several days I found there is nothing wrong with the board. I hooked everything up on my bench and ssh'd into my orange pi and used kiauh to see if it could talk to it. It was successful in communicating and I had klipper working except for errors because it was not hooked up to the printer. Then I reformatted the sd card to fat32 and put marlin back and the stock display display information like it should. Oh well, a learning experience I guess.

Leo, I was having trouble understanding how to set the xy min position as my y limit takes the bed 12 or 13 mm past the bed. I had trouble with Marlin, first time setting up Klipper and guess what. Yep trouble, and I am pretty capable! Just did not seem intuitive. You cleared it up. Having watched the video I will still have to go through it while I do the actions but now I'm confident. Thank you so much, I'm now a subscriber!

@@PrintsLeo3D Leo, I do have a question. On the thorough setup of course, must be done this way!!! When you set the max travel allowing the probe to actually build the mesh properly the size of your bed.... Is it only up to you and your slicer to make sure that the nozzle does not move off the bed while printing, or is there a limit setting for this for sanity? Common sense of course tells me the model must be within the confines of the slicer (reason for printer profile). Can you shed your light on this?
Mark your absolutely right! It's all controlled by the slicer. When we set the maximum X and Y limits those are only max movable limits, and we use those for some features, like building the widest possible bed mesh. The printable max is controlled in your slicer. Whatever size you set the X and Y bed size in your slicer is where the gcode (and nozzle) will be constrained. Finding the max printable size is as simple as moving the nozzle over the bed at the maximum distances and then transferring those coordinates into your slicer

Well done, best explanation I have seen. I was always sort of able to calibrate the bed, but now I also understand what I am doing. I changed a couple off setting in my config as I learned mine where wrong :-) Not super wrong. Ones again well done and thanks heaps for your time to explain things.

I feel you. Printers are getting faster and easier to use out of the box, but ultimate they're using a lot of the same components we always have been. The firmware made so made leaps and bounds and that means we still get access to it on some of our "antiquated" machines. Happy to continue putting these videos out and glad you're still carrying the flame!

The BEST tutorial on how to set up BL/CR Touch for Klipper! After I set the Z Offset then did multiple bed mesh levels adjusting my bed till I was happy with it. I had Zero need to do a live Z Offset! Bed level print came out beautiful! Thank you!

I can finally understand how this works, the documentation was not really clear, it's been years that my ender 3 was not calibrate correctly because of this, you just solve my oldest issue.

I have a modified SOVOL SV04 Idex with two Hemera instead of the stock ones. After two weeks messing around with X&Y Offsets for BL/CR Touch, Extruder 1 & 2 and the bed_mesh I was already at the point to throw everything out of the window. I can't thank you enough for this great video. Perfectly explained and with a clear & good structure. Now I've got my settings dialed in an the tip with the post-it and the marker was a "HEUREKA!" moment for me, getting precise Offsets not only for the Tpuch probe but also for my second Extruder! (I've wasted nearly 500g filament for all the calibration STLs) I've got exact 5 years Experience in 3D printing with MarlinFW but just one month with Klipper. And an IDEX printer. And a modified one .
So again: THANK YOU!

Trying to get these settings correct for a single extruder printer can be tough, but being able to balance all this info and then apply it to a second extruder is another thing entirely!! First of all, I love your handle - that's very clever. But royalty you are!! This is an amazing video that helped me BIG TIME. I've been using my Ender 5 plus for about a year and just decided to try the Creality Sonic Pad. I was NOT able to complete a complete bed leveling because it wouldn't go to the final row, it would throw an error that it was printing out of range. None of the changes I made in the basic settings fixed it. UNTIL I came across YOUR video. Took a little to wrap my head around the math because my bed is 350x350x400 so I need to convert a bit. But I did,. and when I did, with your help, I was finally able to complete a FULL bed level. THANK YOU very much!!

Yea it's never all that easy, always some break in period, but I'm sure you'll be there soon. One thing I always remind people is even though the mesh showing some irregularities it doesn't mean it won't give you good prints. Sometimes we can get so caught up in getting everything exact we forget to see how well it is printing. Of course sometimes that isn't that case either and you need to hone it in a little more, but if you haven't tried a few prints with that mesh I'd say give it a shot and see how it looks .

I only got a bit lost at the end - the start and end g-code was a bit of a mystery. After a bit of research I found out that I should delete my start and end g-code in Cura and instead reference the same code entered into Klipper's printer config file instead.
Yet another complete guide for how to find out the correct offsets of any printer!

Clear and concise, solved my problems with the dual 5015 fan mod V4 from ZUFF on cults that I purchased, which move the Creality touch a significant distance in both x and y axis's. All fixed with this Klipper tutorial. Relatively new to Klipper and love it.

I love Klipper and going forward I am going to have a lot of videos on Klipper. I would hazard you a little though, Klipper is great - the Sonic pad can be a little rough lol people who I've talked to that didn't have Creality made printers had a tough setting up the pad tk work with their printers. I'd recommend using an alternative MCU (my recommendation is the Inovato Quadra - which I have a video on). That being said thanks for watching and I appreciate the support!

@@PrintsLeo3D of course. I really appreciated the dive into the config settings. I'm still having issues with the z offset where it seems like too high one moment and too low the next, but I'm much closer!
One thing to remember when adjusting z offset. If you adjust it live make sure you save that adjustment directly after the print completes. There will be a small disc icon within the Tool section (next to where you adjust z offset) and that's what you'll use to save the recent adjustment. Hope this helps.

Ender 3 V2 4.2.2 Spirit extruder - Cr Touch - Dual axes Z. This video shared to me on a Facebook group to solve my setup issues. The best part of this video is that you didn't give us the values you showed us how to work out and find the correct values for our own system, this is the most important part. The correct values for OUR OWN SYSTEM ! top video Well done, I dont think my system would be up and running with out it. Word of advice to other users don't go searching for a printer cfg that you might think will work it didnt work for me. Following this video is the only thing that worked...

I have an ender and two bambus, I literally took the bambus out of the box and printing to this day 6 months later with 0 adjustments, what a time to be alive and use these next gen printers, I still find this video interesting and helpful even though I don't even have klipper :D
It's an amazing time! I am in a similar boat (although I have a few more Enders and other printers... actually a lot more lol), and I love this stuff. The advancements that BambuLabs have made is really going to accelerate the market to match what they have created. What I love about Klipper firmware is I think this is the firmware of those next gen printers. It has all the features of a firmware that can handle different printer setups and configurations and handle them uniformly across platforms. Also it can be blazing fast. I appreciate you watching and maybe we can get Klipper on that Ender one day ;)
Started printing just a couple months ago. For initial setup, I used a few other tubers videos to help me. They got me into great positioning for being new.
Now, I’m to a point where I want to further refine my knowledge and print accuracy.

you helped me set up my new to me ender 5 plus. you are the man! i got this thing with the sonic pad for 60 dollars since the previous owner thought it was broken since the sonic pad rendered the built in screen useless. Thank you! There’s something here that I haven’t seen anywhere and I believe is very important. When you are talking about maximizing the probe area, it is something that should be done as part of the setup ALWAYS. Specially if like me you installed a new horned configuration such as Voron Afterburner. Otherwise the (0,0) is totally off and prints aren’t centered
Yup, you're absolutely right. Maximizing the print area is just one of those things we all can forget about with the other stuff we focus on, but gaining space along the build plate can be extremely important. Thanks for commenting!
I have just recently gotten into 3d printing and naturally I go all in on learning new things I am interested in. Trying to learn how to set up Klipper has been a nightmare for me having little experience with setting up firmware. I had almost given up to just go back to my original firmware setup when I found this video and the explanation and guidance was far superior to a newbie than any other heavily technical videos I had previously watched. Thank you for taking the time to help guide others on this information because you have just turned my nightmare around. I am certainly subscribing and will be digging through other videos to see what else I can learn!

Just be happy you started with Klipper and not Marlin. Klipper is easier, believe it or not.
I completely agree. Klipper had a higher initial barrier of entry, but once you get it everything is open for you

Wow wish I stumbled on your video a few days earlier when I was struggling with the bltouch. Your explanation is better than the Klipper documentation with the probe testing part... i might have avoided a crash on the bed, that only caused the PET support of my extrudeur to crack... thank god I had another printer to print it again. 😅

I have modded my E3V2Neo with Sprite Pro so had some challenges understanding all the limits for bed size etc since print head/gantry/endstops were all out compared to stock. Thank you for this guide, the part with assigning probge as an end switch helped me alot because klipper doesn't print in negative z coordinates and bed of my printer is all in negative, it was printing in air and now it finally started to print on bed.

NGL your vid help me all this time ago. I relized that i have a bltouch that was adapted for the ender 3 board which uses the Z Endstop as the sensor_pin. I was able to use the pinout of the btt board to find out I needed to change PC14 to PC2. Even thought you didn't really document. Your troubleshooting steps led me to the correct answer so thanks

Hi...I appreciated the effort you put into explaining the setup, @@PrintsLeo3D having a while ago tried to add the 3dtouch using th3d's marlin etc etc the Klipper experience is a game changer. Just bought a neptune 4pro which introduced me to it, sonic was obvious to add my cr6se and cr10s to. 1 question, I couldnt see where to add the bed mesh profile line to in my config, dosent have the start or end macro section anywhere in it, did a few random insert positions but kept telling an error. Or do I add the whole 15 lines or so not just the 1 bed mesh line. I did add it to the cura cr10s start profile which I hope works. thanx again.........
Because you're running some Creality printers the Sonic pad isn't a bad option, but unfortunately overall it can be a little tricky. I don't have the Sonic pad but it definitely does have a start_print (or print_start) macro somewhere. It doesn't necessarily have to be written within the printer.cfg but it will need to be "included". What I mean by "included" is that any macro can be written within a different text file and then pulled into the printer.cfg usually at the top of the printer.cfg you'll see a bunch of files being included, it would look like this:
[Include macros.cfg]
Then all the information within the text file macros.cfg would be used just like printer.cfg
Using the include function is a way to clean up your files and make them easier to read. So if there is no print_start macro in printer.cfg then check what files are being included and see if it is one of those.

I just made the switch to Klipper from stock Marlin. This was a great tutorial. It truly helped me adjust for my new Sprite Pro extruder's cr touch.

Good tutorial 👍 I really messed with myself by going to X and Y home instead of 0,0. I didn't see a way to manually input coordinates on KlipperScreen so just pushed those buttons 🤦 Anyway, I eventually managed to actually follow the instructions 🎉😅
As always we can be our own worst enemy lol Trying to do a lot of this setup through the Klipperscreen can be rough though, so I give you credit for trying. I am glad this helped and I hope you're printer is brrr'ing along!

This was great. Thanks Leo I did find out that the location of the BLT changes the math. I have the Biqu B1 and the BLT mounts in front and the math changed.

So I watch and pause to do what your explaining get to the z offset do everything you say go to home to move on to next step bam nozzle crash’s the bed now I have to go to step one of printer setup and hope nothing is damaged…
Dr, was the probe working before you adjusted the z offset? Meaning was it triggering properly whole homing ?

Great video, it should come in handy when I finally start setting up klipper. Unfortunately, my fairly new, around 6 months old SKR Mini E3 V3.0 board died. It was really kind of strange as it was working fine until I turned it back on and there was nothing on the display. I have ordered a new board and hopefully it will last longer.
Wow that's a bummer. Did you reach out to Big Tree Tech (BTT) and find out if they offered any sort of refund or warranty. You should be getting more than 6 months out of a new board. On the bright side this gives you time to go over the Klipper process and get well acquainted with it by the time the new board arrives. Good luck!
@@PrintsLeo3D No, the warranty is 180 days. I am just over that.
I was a bit premature. After messing around for several days I found there is nothing wrong with the board. I hooked everything up on my bench and ssh'd into my orange pi and used kiauh to see if it could talk to it. It was successful in communicating and I had klipper working except for errors because it was not hooked up to the printer. Then I reformatted the sd card to fat32 and put marlin back and the stock display display information like it should. Oh well, a learning experience I guess.
this video just saved my printer from going in the trash!

Leo, I was having trouble understanding how to set the xy min position as my y limit takes the bed 12 or 13 mm past the bed. I had trouble with Marlin, first time setting up Klipper and guess what. Yep trouble, and I am pretty capable! Just did not seem intuitive. You cleared it up. Having watched the video I will still have to go through it while I do the actions but now I'm confident. Thank you so much, I'm now a subscriber!

@@PrintsLeo3D Leo, I do have a question. On the thorough setup of course, must be done this way!!! When you set the max travel allowing the probe to actually build the mesh properly the size of your bed.... Is it only up to you and your slicer to make sure that the nozzle does not move off the bed while printing, or is there a limit setting for this for sanity? Common sense of course tells me the model must be within the confines of the slicer (reason for printer profile). Can you shed your light on this?
Mark your absolutely right! It's all controlled by the slicer. When we set the maximum X and Y limits those are only max movable limits, and we use those for some features, like building the widest possible bed mesh. The printable max is controlled in your slicer. Whatever size you set the X and Y bed size in your slicer is where the gcode (and nozzle) will be constrained. Finding the max printable size is as simple as moving the nozzle over the bed at the maximum distances and then transferring those coordinates into your slicer
