- A year ago Heather went head-to-head with GCN’s Manon, in an indoor duathlon. Heather won but Manon was close behind! Now it’s time for a rematch to see if Heather can hold the lead a year on, except this time, we’re doing it outdoors with two runs instead of one! Will this shift the leaderboards? 👀

Would love to see GTN vs GCN vs GMBN (co-ed) team relays! Maybe even Xterra style to throw in an extra little spice. Would be interesting to see who each team selected for each leg, maybe Heather vs Conor vs Blake swim, James vs Manon vs Anna bike and Mark vs Hank vs Rich or Isaac? 👍🏻👍🏻
Make it a dual header first event they do their preferred event second time they can not do their preferred event and it is combined time for both events that determines the winner.
I like the Challenges that Manon gets into. She is such an inspiration to get us out of our comfort zone. Great Video

Very entertaining, congrats to Heaher and kudos to Manon for being a good sport. Hey Heather perhaps Manon deserves that sharp GTN kit?
It was interesting to see how much higher RPM Manon was riding than Heather. Plus, the time trial bike was not a big advantage here, because the road was very winding. There was a corner where Heather had already rolled while Mannon kept pedaling. Go for it girls :-)
Thank you Manon. That was great. Just remember, Heather is a machine. No one can beat her on anything, other than a short sprint.

When I was a junior, I was racing at an international level. One time, I entered a triathlon just for fun, cause I thought I might do well due to my TT skills. I nearly drowned in the swim! It was so tough that I swam to the side, so just my head would be above the water and I pretended to swim, while just walking. With the TT I caught a ton of people, but it only brought me halfway through the field. Then in the run I got destroyed again! Such a different kind of suffering! Never tried it again. I did enter it as a team though, were I had friends running and swimming and I did the TT. Hats of to those guys who train so many different sports.
It’s easy enough to look at a bike run bike with the relative distances making up for the relative speeds of Manon & Heather, and I love the idea of a velodrome ride for heather, maybe a handicapped pursuit race?
Manon has such a great sport spirit. Just pushed through the pain.

When Manon did the drafting i had to giggle a bit, classic. When Heather started running it look liked the terminator T-2000 was on the hunt again.

Fair play to Manon! Though most of the duathlons I’ve seen (at least in the US and Canada) have the shorter run first, and the longer run after the bike.

I’d like for them to do a legitimate challenge with the same equipment with exception to the running shoes or color of kit. Otherwise these challenges are silly, proving that outspending gives an advantage.

Maybe Manon could do an instructional on setting up a TT bike or being more efficient on the bike to save energy, even fueling while riding is something that anyone can learn from.
Great vidro and top effort from Heather and Manon - when Manon knew that Heather would have the advantage on the run why did Manon sit on Heather's wheel during the bike and not push to build an advantage going into the final run? 🤔 Was Manon at max effort on the bike? Or was it self-preservation?

5k Run -> 15k Cycling in the pavement -> 3k Run -> 6k XC riding -> 3k run

In pro bike racing people run next to the competitors who are cycling up massive mountains. But they only run along for a minute or so.
I'm just wondering if someone like Manon was to cycle up the biggest climb in the Tour de France, could someone running keep up all the way to the top of the mountain?

This was an easy one to call without having to watch the video. Triathletes are proficient in cycling and running, whereas if you only ride bikes and never run, you're not going to stand a chance. The difference between a fast cyclist and an average cyclist is around a minute per mile, whereas the difference between a fast runner and an average runner is more like 3 or 4 minutes per mile. A lot of people would think that cycling would help with running, but it's not true at all. I know plenty of A group cyclists who couldn't run a 9 minute mile.
The TT bike was unnecessary 😢 Manon is not a runner

The obvious other challenge to pit Heather against Manon would be to go to a velodrome and have a go at some of the track cycling events . . .

a bike challenge would be fun: indoor super fast, road flat and mountain up for the end.
We really need to see the male GTN presenters do this. And we especially needs to seem them swim!
Here’s a thought: how about giving Manon 6-8 weeks notice and setting the course at 1 lap (1.5km) run, 6 lap bike, 1 lap run well in advance, so perhaps … she could actually prepare … I’ve heard that … check notes … there is this thing called ‘training’ that can actually work … ;)

Ride run ride is the obvious choice I think. As I triathlete, at least you have riding experience. Cyclists don't usually run much so I think it would even the playing field

If you can not run 5 miles in 40 minutes the SAS do not consider you to be even averagely fit for a civilian. The BFT run for a soldier is a mile and a half run in about ten minutes with another mile and a half run at your best personal effort with someone 3p years old being expected to do the second mile and a half in less than ten minutes.
