- On this episode of Crazy Will Tech Show, we are taking a look at a $79 laptop. Yes! $79 bucks! I was messing around on my vacation and saw this laptop for $79 and was like what’s the catch? I have been burned before in the past with windows mobile. Well, it was a chromebook and I was like it’s just an Android tablet trying to be a laptop. Still I researched it. Because, I'm like how bad could it be, what software can you run on a chromebook? Well, I found out you can run Linux on a chromebook which really intrigued me. I thought if you can run Linux then you can put a lot of different software on it. It had me thinking what can it handle? So I Bought it and thought what do i have to lose, only $79 bucks. Well I got it, tested it and I wanted to know if can you video edit, photo edit, 3d print, watch CZcams, game, use office, and basically do all the things you could do on a regular computer. Can a Chromebook be a regular computer? Well after testing it for two weeks I have the answers for you on this episode. Let’s see what a $79 chromebook can do.

I love how you did not get bogged down in all that tech nonsense and that you used it like a normal person would. I love how yo answered about using a mouse, remote desktop and all that. I also love how you were honest about what it can and cannot do instead of focusing on all that techno babble.

Awesome, I've been looking for a cheap PC for my mother, her last PC from 2015 just died (power supply died and took the CPU and the motherboard with it, yikes!)
I was thinking of getting her a Raspberry Pi 400, for around a $100 with all the needed accessories, but this video kinda changed my mind, I had no idea these things were so good, I only ever heard rumors about Chromebooks being trashy almost disposable laptops for broke students and whatnot, but dang this thing is seriously great for like seniors to do basic stuff like browsing, checking emails and working on word documents, or even for kids. I can see now why they're so popular and at that price is hard to beat.
And honestly some models are cheaper than a Raspberry Pi 4 and easier to get (RPis are like extinct since the COVID stuff started).

Thanks! That means a lot to me. I’ve played with both of them and think this laptop is faster. I have a raspberry pi four with eight gigs of RAM and was able to do more stuff on this. Don’t get me wrong they’re very close. But you’re getting speakers a monitor and a ecosystem which I feel is very important. Like I said in the video I thought the same thing throwaway computer. For 79 bucks I was like let’s try it. This review could’ve gone either way. Shock the crap out of me. It’s my goofing off at work computer.

I use chromebook over year. This can fulfill my daily using. Web surf, watching streaming video, reading comic.

There's a $109 version of this that has touch screen, also on BestBuy. I have both, because why not lol. For light use, these laptops are amazing!

It's on sale at Best Buy again for $79.00. So decided to buy one for my grandson. I would of brought one for myself. But I picked up a open box excellent condition. Asus CX1700 17.3 1080P chrome book laptop for $80 from BB a couple of days ago.
For $79 you can't go wrong.

Will this be ok for schoolwork? I’m not studying to be a rocket scientist or coding. Just something to run my online courses. I also have an iPad to write notes on.
I think it’ll be perfectly fine. They’re actually designed for schools but I would check with the school first.

I actually got this for $99.99 + sales tax at Best Buy like almost 2 weeks ago during their back to school promo.
It is extremely good budget for what you're able to do with this. For the price, the camera is decent, the speakers are okay, the Intel Celeron N4020 while definitely is underpowered compared to other processors out there, even back when it was originally released a few years ago, it wasn't anything special. But it is at least good enough to do a lot of the basics well enough to get by. The only gripe I have with that is that for some reason, laptop manifacturers are still trying to dish out those kinds of processors in a laptop that could still go for almost $300 after sales tax. I feel like for that price point, they should give us something a little better than a N4020 and that the only time they should go with that is when they sell them for half that, like a $99 to $150 price point.
The only issues I have with it is that screen can get a little washed out and when you type, it doesn't have any form of correction if that makes sense. It could just be me, but it doesn't autocorrect and it doesn't capitalize the first letter in a sentence. It's not a terrible issue but if I accidentally typed a word wrong which happens from time to time, it doesn't fix it for me right away. Again, from a $99.99 CAD, it's fine, but still....
Anyways, regardless, what I am surprised about is that in this Chromebook, they actually squeezed in 2 USB-C & 2 USB 3 ports.
As for the gaming, you’re right, because of the lack of a touchscreen, you can’t play most games that was designed for it, but just like the Steam link you mentioned, PlayStation Remote Play is also available. Given that this also has Bluetooth you can sync your PS4 or PS5 controller and download the PS remote play and be able to sync this to your PS4 and PS5 console and stream the games over to this and use it as a portable gaming console. It’s not ideal and you should definitely pair it with a good pair of headphones first for better sound quality.

Is this computer good enough for getting on Facebook searching the web playing Google games from the Play store like the ones on your cell phone and stuff like that stuff on yourself on but it'd be a bigger screen

Can i use this chrome book for my uscutter? To make decals? Will the cutter work with this?
I never used that software but if there is a Linux version of it, it's possible.
Where the Hell was I when this dropped to $79. I like it that USB-C supports up to 4096x2160@60Hz output. Wonder if we will ever see that price again?

Aloha - I purchased the Lenovo - Chromebook 3 11" Chromebook - AMD A6 - 4GB Memory - 32GB eMMC Flash Memory - Onyx Black. The question I have is I could not find the "Linux (Bata)" Setting menu. Even went to the "Developers" settings session and could not find the toggle button to turn-on Linux (Bata). Therefore, I could not get a Linux Terminal to view. I notice you did not mention this feature on this video. Did Google OS turn this feature off for this Lenovo model??? Appreciate any answers to my issue. I even called Best Buy Geek support and could not get an answer! Any HELP to my question would be greatly appreciated.
Did you update to the latest chrome OS? I will have a video coming out soon on how to set that up. Please tell me what version of chrome OS you’re using.
@@CrazyWillTechShow Aloha - I am using the lasted Chrome OS (103.0.5060.114). I have used Chromebook (ACER) for 5 years. It has Linux (Bata) menu option. Does this Lenovo Chromebook (Chrome OS) allow Linux to be installed. I have to Turn-On button in the Developers menu option.
