  • This is a fascinating look at life on the other side of the fence. Tom Fuller, an incredibly in-demand record producer gives us a plethora of tips and tricks I (and you may) have never considered. Any questions for him please put them in the comments below... and what about that bass in the headphones thing, who knew eh?

I just remembered my old spring reverb in a case has never been used in my current studio environment. That's coming right out into the open for vocals this weekend. Brilliant interview, and super set up. Please do more of these, Christian.

Excellent interview. I've also learned something: That small amplifier in the corner where Tom put his synths through and picks the sound up again with a micro. I of course know guitar-players - especially rock and hardrock - do it this way. But I've never thought someone would do it using VST plugins. But, hey, why not? I really need to get a cheap one yet and try it by myself.
As a side note: It's always refreshing to watch yourself and your enthusiasm when doing an interview.
Thank you so much again for this video! 🙂 👍 🤟

Tom is a hoot! Really enjoyable visit. I've thought about spring-verbs in the past (diy?) and maybe I'll give one a try now. I liked the idea of reamping synths too. I was glad to hear Tom's take on the Amphions. A modern day NS-10 is what I thought when I did some mixing on a pair. Not for me but I can see how they're magic for mixing.

I couldn’t believe it when I had tried my hands at doing some leather crafting, and I had made a sort of half goggle eye protector, only to be offered a whole lot more money than I would have ever thought it was worth. I was asked about my sourcing of this leather, which I had literally cut off of some furniture outside on the side of the street, along someone’s boulevard. Since I had literally re-re-used and re-purposed the leather, this made it somehow doubly desirable, and very much more valuable. Thanks for sharing!!

Don’t know if it’s just a misperception but a lot of these cribs videos seem to feature people who are pretty clearly of an upper middle class sort of persuasion. Not that it should really matter, but I wonder whether lower class people are getting priced out of the cost of entry into music in this era. It’s the same with actual bands too - surprising number are all from private school backgrounds nowadays. Anyway, great video.

Hopefully one day some top producers will want to hear 10 years of projects on an archive, never been released to the public, because most of them need A-List vox on written by other musicians (top liners.) My brother was amazed at one hook I came out with last week (plenty where that came from), produced with layers, sounds mainstream, pop.
