#iRacing #forcefeedback #ffb - Hry
A couple weeks ago I was racing with everything checked and turned all the way up. I realized something was seriously wrong when my wheel would rotate on its own when I was not moving. I've been messing with the settings a bit, but now I feel like I really have it toned in.
Thank you
I've used that Wheelcheck tool before together with LUT generator to setup my G29 in Assetto Corsa. It completely changed the feel of ffb (in positive way) like I would spend much more money for new wheel. Pure magic :)
Man, this is awesome. I spent the evening calibrating and adjusting for a few cars. What a huge change. I do mostly paved ovals and noticed I was catching a lot more slides and they were a lot less dramatic
Great video, many thanks. Within 10 minutes of making your recommended changes I reduced my best lap round Summit Point in the MX5 by 1.5 seconds and it felt safe and not right on the edge like before 😀
Wow now that is a performance gain! What wheel are you using and really glad it helped.
Wanted to say THANK YOU! I could tell the difference in the first corner I took. Haven't jumped into a test session yet, but I know after a little practice it will make a big difference in my speed. Thank you again.
THIS was unbelievable useful for me, thank you very much I pretty much got all my settings wrong. I knew I wasn't liking my force feedback, but I didn't really know what settings I should put. Now I know, and the car feels a bit different, and I feel more confident. Also, I feel my times are more constant, and I can correct better my mistakes. Awesome job, you gained another sub today, have a nice day!
Thanks a lot and I'm really gladed it helped! Hope to see you out on the track.
Thanks for all your tips and tricks, I’ve watched a load of your videos recently and it’s really helped me improve my set up and understanding of iracing. Cheers
Great video, David. Thank you.
I'm going to try my hand at iRacing for the first time this weekend and your tutorial here helps a lot.
Wow. I've been driving in iRacing for about 6 months. Until I saw this video, I didn't even know I'd had it set up all wrong. I was using a one-size-fits-all for all cars, and the strength set up completely wrong, had damping and min force WAY up which isn't even needed on my CSL wheelbase. The best tip by far was having a per-car setup, and letting iRacing suggest the strength. This has improved my consistency dramatically, and my lap times by at least a couple of seconds. Cheers, Dave! :D
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. It really transformed my G29. Keep up the great work.
I''ve watched a few of your videos now Dave, really can't thank you enough for the effort you put in, they're so good. Subbed :)
I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for doing this video. I used some of your wheel settings to set up my T300. I have to say this video taught me a lot I didn't know and thought I did. I watched your other videos as well. I made my own tutorial just covering the wheel settings for the T300 specifically and mentioned your video with the link to this video as well, I hope you don't mind. Thanks again keep up the videos got my Sub.
Wow I can actually race in Dirt Late Models properly now thanks to this. I was having so much trouble with the wheel just being way to jerky and having to be way to active with the wheel. Now it is so smooth and much easier to control. Used your settings since I have a G29 as well just had to get the auto strength right and was ready to rock. Appreciate the video a bunch!
Thanks so much for this video. I also have a G29 and was struggling with feeling what the car was doing on iRacing. I didn't have this problem in sims like ACC. After watching the video, I was able to quickly shave quite a bit of time off my best lap in the MX5 at Lime Rock Park. But the more important thing, is that my consistency has seemed to improved a lot. I also feel much more confident in the MX5. Before I was driving passive because I had no feel for what the car was doing. Now if I could only improve my breaking technique. :)
Thank you for a great video !!
I never really looked into the FFB stuff, I just set it up so it felt right.
I'm gonna try this now.
Thanks a lot, hope it helps
@@Sampsoid I tried it with the trucks at Vegas (fixed) and I got a little faster, 31.21 to 31.13, but a lot more stable. Especially on the straights, not so much "slack" in the wheel.
Hi David, your videos have become an essential service for anyone getting into iRacing, great work
Great to hear Jason, thanks a lot!
Got my fanatec wheel setup using this method I had the linear test display deltaX numbers at 50 (.5 in iracing menu) same thing with min force test (-.5) recommended ffb for mx-5 global was 26.2 and i have 0 damper on the wheel itself and iracing menu and re-ran tsukuba after everything was said and done was able to obtain a 1.04.6 w/ the stock mx-5 global setup truly a believer in setting things up right now. Figured i'd share my success story, and great video! will share with friends.
You're really good at walkthroughs, thanks for this David!
Just wanted to take a moment and say thanks for all your videos about how to fine tune our iRacing experience, really, thanks. Have a great day sir.
Thanks for the tutorial sir! I thought I had my g920 setup properly but driving is a HOOT after following your video! Thanks man!
These videos have helped me massively and really improved my iRacing experience. Thank you!
Great to hear!
This helped me tremendously man, FFB feels fine now, thank you!
I am new to iracing (and pc gaming) and this video has been such a massive help.
Thank you so much!
you would not believe how much of a difference this made for me......the game is so much more fun. so much more consistent now. thank you so much....love videos man
Great to hear that and thank you very much. Best of luck and hope to see you out on track
Awesome video mate. Very well explained. I will be using this video to set up my wheel. I have been struggling to find a setting that i am comfortable with.
Keep up the great content.
Glad it helped, thanks a lot
you're great at these walkthroughs, thank you so much dude coming from console I have no idea what's going on
Glad it helped and your welcome, I enjoy making them. More to come!
agreed
David Sampson hey David I have a g920 that I’m running a wheelcheck on. My first number is coming up at 1 percent not 17 percent like you mentioned. What am I doing wrong?
David Sampson and when I run the min force test it’s coming up as 0.5 percent not 16 percent?
@@Sampsoid my wheel check has letters x and y in the position and not numbers? It just sits there and will not move? any help would be greatly appreciated sir
big thumbs up man, nice clear to the point vids, good work!
This is a great video!!! I know it’s an older video. I’m new to iRacing and have a G920 that I was getting very frustrated with. I tried to follow other videos to no success. I followed your tutorial in this video step by step and worked perfectly! I can actually race competitively and the wheel feels great (I know, for a low end wheel). Thank you so much for this video!
You are more than welcome, glad it helped you out.
Thank you - new to iracing and this was very handy
Great video, thanks for the easy help! Really appreciated
This video changed my life. Thanks so much!!
mate this video was perfect thank u for being the help i needed
Tried this with my Formula Renault 2.0 and it feels perfect. Thanks! Gonna do this to all my cars now!
Dude... this was clutch man I didn't even realize I had it wrong before! I have tons more feel in the T150 now.
What did you set Nm at?
I can't find any info on that thanks!
What are your other settings?
Thanks!
Dave
Thank you, very useful guide so all of the guess work and research is already done for me. I've been using wheelcheck + lut generator for AC so similar steps. My G920 is returning a consistent step log 2 threshold at 8-9%. Min force test is telling me anywhere from 2-5%. I'm guessing I have a low value return messing up the output. It's not money so I will use my old Excel trick and pick the correct the answer. Thanks again, Daniel
Amazing video man, thank you for this!
No problem, thanks for the support and glad it helped. I have more How-To's in the works.
Did what you said, worked awsome..thks for the info..
You are my hero. Your video's have helped me so much
This isn’t olden it’s golden
Cheers mate 👍🏻
Learning. A lot from your vids mate cheers
I'm glad it helped. Thanks for the support

Thanks a lot Alex, the support means a lot.
Thanks David, really useful video
Your welcome, thanks for watching
Very useful mate great video!
Thanks a lot
Great info. I've never heard anyone reference this tool before.
Thanks, yeh found that gem of a tool a while back and helped me lots.
Just subscribed
Hi David
I think your videos are really good with lots of interesting points .
Thanks a lot and glad they are helping.
wow great video my guy.
You sir, are the best. THANK YOU
That was gold bud ... cheers
Your welcome, glad it helped
clear concise video thx
Thanks
Thank you for the video I got a lot out of it .I have a question for you, under steering wheel
accelerator - brake and clutch what should I have Sensitivity set to in profiler for my G25 wheel .
Thank you in advance.
Hey dude thanks for this. I've tweaked my setup and it feels much better. It just feels a lost more "connected to the car"
Great info, thx
Thank You a lot for this tutorial. Now i can feel car much better. Any "How to"s are welcome.
Are any of these adjustments (besides feedback strength) affected by wheel settings you have in the driver (in my case GHub, also running a G29)? And if so what would you recommend running for settings there to optimize what you went over in this video?
Thanks so much for this video! Do you have any tips for Thrustmaster t300 Alcantara with iracing? I usually do nascar oval stuff.
Thank you for the video. Do you know if this software will work with a direct drive wheel? I have used the recommended settings by Fanatec but it doesn't feel pristine like what you showed could be achieved. I also did the same for the Iracing settings. Again, thanks and I will give it a go once I get some freetime in the next day or so.
Great videos, thx for sharing. I have a T300 and u wanna try your things. But what about the FFB settings in windows do you leave them on default of do you change them to?
ive just updated to a fanatec csl dd wheel and was rerunning through your setting up forcefeedback video to remind myself. I have a couple of questions. since you made your video they have added smoothing to the set up options. What does this do and where should I have it set. If my fanatec software is running in the background, which takes precedence? the fanatec settings or the iracing setting, i.e. if my iracing is all set up then i alter my fanatec settings (maybe for a different game) will it alter my wheel in iracing?
Is there any addons or config file shenanigans that I could use to allow the sti to shift with a h pattern(and not in the sequential way)
Fired up my first test drive and I only get steering related FFB. If I hit a kerb or go of the track there is nothing. Any ideas?
Wheel is working in all other Sims so only an iRacing issue
I have a Fanatec CSL elite wheel base. As soon as I start the test my wheel starts to vibrate back and forth like crazy. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have tried many times
if you download a setup from iracing setup sync, when y trie to lunch he -could not load setup file on game..- ken y help please
Can someone help? What's the torque output of Thrustmaster TMX? I can't find that stat anywhere and I'm getting furius. No luck with the T150 either.
My G29 gave same numbers as yours did! (mine is 3 months old) TY
Nice! Glad video helped and best of luck on the track, hope to see you on it.
Excellent video but...would you expect a G920 wheel to give a result of 1%? From what you have said here it seems way to low but I've ran the test multiple times and that's what I get. Do you think I should just input that figure or just input something higher?
David, I downloaded Wheel Check version 1.82, loaded and set the parameters as you've indicated and I get nothing. no movement of the whee. at all and nothing in the documents folder. I tried the previous version of Wheel Check and don't get any results with that version either. I'm running a Fanatec Clubsport V2 wheel base which Wheel Check sees and sets in the first drop down menu. I set the next two as you directed, Max Count at 200 and then from the second dropdown menu Step 2. I wait and the wheel never moves. I am new to sim racing and am trying to get the optimum set up using your "How To" videos. Any idea as to why Wheel Check is not working?
We need more people like you man
Thanks a lot, glad you like my content
@@Sampsoid Your welcome
When I quite out of the app when the wheel starts moving I get totally random readings, like:1350, 400, 950. But if I leave the wheel to turn for about 1 1/2 minutes then it settles at about 950- is this a false reading?
I have a G923, with an MVH GT Series front end, my Linear Force returns 750 (7.5%) & my Min Force returns 2.0%, should my wheel, which is essentially the same as yours return results so different from yours, or is this sort of thing normal?
hello for the g29 do you advice to put wheel force to 2.2 or 2.4, in the sense does something change? Also is it more realistic to keep the damper at 0 or better to have it set a bit?
Something weird happens where whenever i shut my computer off and reboot and play, the settings feel way different, but whenever i open up wheel check it feels normal again does anyone else have that issue?? also would you recommend having the center spring on or off??
Nice video David
Thanks man, love your oval stuff. I've got to get more into oval.
@@Sampsoid Thanks man yeah oval racing is verry nice but sometimes hard
Thanks a lot! You have new subscriber here.
Thanks you and thanks for the sub!
I did this with the Mazda and a CSL elite 1.1. Auto gave 23ish with the auto button. That can't be right, right? Did several smooth laps
End of 2021, Once again your tutorials are great. This is two years old & settings/menus have changed. Worth an update?
I know this is an old video..but using the wheel check with the thrustmaster TS..min force is REALLLLY low. I get between 0 and .5 usually. I've run it many times. Is this value still correct?
my t-gt gave 250 force and 1 percent in the min force test so i can put 0-2.5 the min force ?
Can anyone else find the Nm Output for the Thrustmaster TMX wheel....I've been searching on Google and on the Thrustmaster website and can't seem to find it.
Im getting numbers in the low hundreds, does that mean my wheel is messed up or picking up lower values?
So my results come back much differently. Your results show a long list of zeros, where my first DeltaX is line two, and the far left only reads 100. Am I doing something wrong??
My zeros after running the wheel check are gone at 500 whereas yours stop much higher around 1600... is there something i'm doing wrong?
how is your g29 has more deadzone than my t150 ? mine has like 11% but with boost in control panel it has like 4% deadzone
Hi David, I just did this with my Logitech g923 with a formula vee around oulton park. The auto strength came out at 26.2. Does that sound right? Seems a bit high to me
Whenever I use a lut table I get disgusting oscillation on center whether I’m still or rolling doesn’t go away unless I hold the wheel to one side or going into the lut file and lowering the first 3 values I can dial about 70% of the oscillation out, wheel still doesn’t center the last 45° under 30 mph using a tmx Any help would be appreciated, played with max count and step time no improvements
I have the g920 and i am not getting any feedback from the test? It is showing zero values the whole way through. Unsure what to do from here.
Hi I have a Thrustmaster TGT wheel would you recommend using the linear mode for this as you mentioned in the video a sort of cut off price range . I’m just new to iracing and videos like yours are very helpful .
Hi, I would not recommend using linear mode as your wheel has 6nm of force, which while high, is not high enough to benefit from linear mode. Thanks a lot and glad they are helping.
That’s brilliant thank you so much for your help . After your video I am already putting in consistent laps around my best time . Only 1.08 around lime rock (chicanes)but I was around 1.09 so thank you . I only joined iracing last week and I absolutely love it . I’m not very good but I love it and that’s fine with me .
For some reason my "enable force feedback" setting is grayed out. I can't select it. I'm using a CSL Elite with a p1 Xbox rim...
Thanks David, this video helped me a lot with my T300. But when I run Min Force I get anywhere between 0% and 1%, does that make sense? I thought your G29 and the T300 were comparable? Similarly, the Step Log 2 test I get percentages around 4% - 5%, nowhere near what you're getting on your G29.
I have a tx thrustmaster which is similar servo to yours and I also get a min force of 1%
anyone have any experience with the T150/TMX? i set everything else fine and did multiple laps and it keeps reccomending something in the range of 22-24, it actually feels fine but its incredibly heavy, and this is my first ffb wheel so im not sure if this is right or not, especially as it seems all the logitech users are using somewhere in the range of 8-12, for the record this is in the rookie mazda
Dear David, I really like your videos, I own a G29 but I don't really like the FFB resolution, do you recommend irFFB?
do you think the GT29 is a better wheel then the T300rs gt? im looking for a short term up grade
Wow thanks alot
hello, I can not see the link for wheel check? sorry, help please
This was very helpful. I'll have to spend a bit more time doing laps to get FFB strength tuned up. Coming from GT Sport, this was a pretty steep learning curve. I've got a T300, and you mentioned you would expect the Mazda to be around a value of 8, but the auto value gave me something more like 24. Does this seem reasonable?
Same setup, mine also says 26. Feels fine to me, but all the other videos show values around 10 or so
I looked for wheel check 1.72 but you had to join the sites is it free some where I found v1.82 but it did not work on my TMX pro is this a known problem with Thrustmaster wheels I’m getting ready to run in season 4
Rookie Street stock any ffb settings would be great
What control command do you use to set a button for the auto FFB???
Hello David my linear is grayed out could you tell me why this is please I have a accuforce and simcommder 4
the min force on my test for my fanatec csl wheel is -50 that dont seem right
Why do you have brakes force factor at 0.00 with the G29?
