That was a premise in the movie. Most people didn't care they were in the Matrix and wanted to live their lives in relative comfort.

Matrix is about a Projected Reality CREATED BY MACHINES (or AI or whatever) to use humans as batteries!!! Innocence becomes a prison or a dagger if left untouched. We are destroyed by a lack of knowledge. Both biblically and practically, knowledge allows us to defend against and avoid dangers we'd otherwise be helpless against. That said there's innocence in terms of not knowing anything.....and innocence in terms of wisely avoiding the sins and mistakes of others....which requires knowledge firstly of what is good, and secondly of what isnt good.
Then they grow up and see the world isn't rainbows and candy drops and want to end it all.

The baby was like a miscarriage as opposed to already born and living for awhile. Miscarriages are always way worse for the woman. The worst was probably his friend. On the flip side an epic, astounding, highly successful career that he LOVES, and has always had his health...which is major. Not to mention a wonderful partner for the past 10 years, or so, who he is very happy with. So, yeah, I stand by my opinion that Keanu's life has not been so tragic like it is portrayed to be. To answer your question...my grandparents, both sides, mother and father, so yes I have lost people, like everyone. I do adore Keanu, so no disrespect in my opinion.
