    I inherited the jig from my dad and like it, but it has one flaw IMHO... it only handles standard slides (~1.5" high) and not any of the heavy duty versions (2-3"). I'd love to see a version that can be adjusted for bigger slides.

      I would agree with that csimet. Thanks for watching.

    Very informative, thank you. Can you use a 24" side mount drawer slide on a 28" drawer box and still have it fully extend?

    • @MadNerdWorkshop
      @MadNerdWorkshop  Před 3 lety +1

      I would say no, the drawer slides extend 24" and so they would stop at that distance. Leaving that extra 4" inside the cabinet.

      @@MadNerdWorkshop thank you for your content.
      I found a 28” drawer slide and will order them to finish up the drawers for my parts storage containers. Thank you for the response.

    You could get a longer screwdriver, or just tilt the box up on its side.

  • @srg3798
    @srg3798 Před rokem +1

    Or you could use a self centering Vix Bit

    The Kreg drawer jig is more useful than the Rockler's.. I have the Rockler and I dont like it becasue its very limited to the inner parts only.

    Purchased that Rockler tool and like so many which make claims to do x,y and z, I found it an absolute waste of time.
    The design is not easy to use and it is generally awful.
    Such a shame, as it it cost me £35.00

      I am Sorry, Deanne. I don't like steering people in the wrong direction. I am still using it for some cabinets I am putting together today. Of the drawer jigs that I tried before, this one held the drawer slides securely and was a easy to level. How did it not work for you?Do you normally use a spacer piece of wood? Or how do you normally install drawers that are easier?

    • @PetiteBluebirdgirl
      @PetiteBluebirdgirl Před 3 lety +1

      @@MadNerdWorkshop no need for you to apologise; it is not your fault.
      I just found the design quite clumsy and went back to making spacers, which I found faster.
      I would improve the design a lot. Altbough once the slide is added to the jig, it is not that easy to line it up (I like my slides centred). The Rockler drawer slide requires a magnet (the black slide tends to move).
      Anyway, many other people have said the same on other youtube sites.
      Poor design.

      @@PetiteBluebirdgirl I've used this jig a number of times. Not had one problem with it. If you can't critique the problem you've had with it, then perhaps learn how to use it properly. I've also installed drawers with the Kreg drawer slide jig. Either of them are better for installation of glides than custom jigs. They don't work well with lowest drawer but other than that, huge time and frustration saver.

    • @PetiteBluebirdgirl
      @PetiteBluebirdgirl Před 3 lety

      @@raywright2401 that is your preference. Many people agree with me. I find it easier to.make spaces. That jig is cumbersome. I have made over 30 drawers this year
