To celebrate 20 years of Disney On Broadway, ABC aired “Backstage with Disney on Broadway: Celebrating 20 Years.” The special, hosted by Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family), gave unprecedented backstage access with the Broadway casts of Disney’s “The Lion King," “Aladdin” and the North American Tour of “Newsies”. “Backstage with Disney on Broadway: Celebrating 20 Years,” also featured music from the Disney on Broadway catalog, including special musical performances from Sir Elton John, Sam Palladio and Clare Bowen (ABC’s “Nashville”), Ashley Brown (“Mary Poppins”) and Darren Criss (“Glee”). The special aired on December 14, 2014.
ALADDIN, adapted from the 1992 animated Disney film and centuries-old folktales,” is brought to fresh theatrical life in this bold new musical. Aladdin’s journey sweeps audiences into an exotic world of daring adventure, classic comedy and timeless romance. Directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw, with an award-winning production team and star studded cast, ALADDIN is, as NBC-TV declares, “Exactly what you wished for!”
seven years ago, he was sitting in his room filming himself singing disney covers. now he's professionally recording them with disney on broadway.

All I can think of is Harry Potter singing this.
This takes me back to the time he used to film doing this (Covers of Disney with his guitar) in his bedroom and putting it on CZcams...... I'm sorry, the feels got me!

Darren voice kills me, his voice is so amazing and soothing and this just reminds me of the shaggy hair hobbit who made Disney covers on CZcams. The great thing about Glee ending there will be more Darren work and this video proves he should be back on Broadway longer

Acoustic covers of Disney anthems has been Darren's thing for a long time... And this blew me away. I respect him so much as a musician. And the fact that he is singing my favorite... Totally awesome.

His hair kind of reminds me of back in the A Very Potter Musical times. I wish he was back going musicals. I really do. Those were the days.
This reminds of AVPM and the Disney cover days. I hope he goes back to those days when Glee officially ends
I am super happy and excited that Darren is where he is today, as a Starkid I am so proud of him. I do have to admit however that I miss the days when he was all ours.
Darren did such a nice job here. It would be wonderful to see him on stage again, hopefully for a longer run than the three weeks he had in “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.” That was January 2012, nearly three years ago! I’m sure people have been talking to him, now that Glee is finishing filming. He just needs to match the right production with his talent.
