- Though artificial intelligence is not uncommon in the Origin System, one particular iteration sets itself apart from the others. The Cephalons in the system not only hold a level of intelligence that rivals that of the Corpus robotics with built in redundancies, but possess qualities that are remarkably "human." A distinct culture and even a social order amongst themselves puts them in a light revealing they are much more than simple AI protocols, but are in fact their own race of artificial beings.

We know a lot more about cephalons now that the "cephalon fragments" mechanic is out. If you complete a fragment and go to the codex, you can uncover hidden messages from Ordis by hovering your mouse over certain areas of the unlocked pictures. We even get Ordis's own back story, how cephalons are made, and why he seems so glitchy. It's actually a pretty tragic story.
Yeah I'd really like a part 2 of this video now that we know the history of cephalons and how they were made.

DE's made reference to "cracked" Cephalons in regards to Ordis and the Conclave Cephs before, though what exactly being a "cracked" Cephalon means is up for debate given the Conclave Cephs don't seem to have the same kind of audio glitches Ordis has. I do believe that it has to do with the "glitching" Darvo mentioned.
If I had to guess, I'd argue that a "cracked" Cephalon is sort of like an A.I. gaining a personality outside of its own primary programming - hence why Ordis has his own glitches and bad jokes and the Conclave Cephalons display similarly exuberant personalities while Simaris and Suda are more refined. Simaris has been noted to get a touch excited but even that is MUCH more on the down-low than Ordis' fanboying over him.

Well, if you still don't know what happened to Ordis, I would suggest scanning all the cephelon fragments on every planet and then waving your mouse around in the codex entries for the cephelon fragments trying to find the source of the static noise in every entry. There's a hidden story there about Ordis.
If you need to explain it to yourself he himself blames it on savaging done by grenire before you find your ship

I cannot believe that for as long as I've been playing this game I never noticed Ordis has a crack in his projection. Although now that we have The New War he's gotten a bit of an upgrade.

With infos gathered in Cephalon fragment, comics What Remains about Suda, Octavia's Anthem quest, cephalon infos in Simaris Imprints, the cephalon from the Index, Jordas, and the sacrifice you could easily make a revisited version of this video with up to date lore. Could be interesting to see the differences of what we used to know and what we now know.
the cefilons are like a talk on personalities and goals for long term and explains personality stuff,thats what ive been thinking but I didn't know someone else would also philosophise about it.
Wow, this is very interesting. I also recommend checking out the wiki article on Cephalon on the Warframe wiki. It is very interesting as well, and has a few more details that this video left out. I love the cryptic lore of Warframe, but I still want to know more. Guess we'll just have to wait to find out. Thanks for the video!

Hey StallordD, I've been wondering something for quite some time now. How do Tenno communicate? The only time we ever see them directly communicate is when we talk to Simaris in the relays. Hope you can figure this out for me :)
Tcorn the Lazy They converse among each other non-verbally and non-visually, and it is most likely a form of telepathy as much as some people might not like that explanation.
I have my own theories that are not really backed up anywhere, but make the telepathy much cooler to me, in that rather than just straight up mind lasering other Tenno, they change their void signatures to radiate a particular way that conveys simple concepts to nearby allies who can understand such energies. So rather than just using Tenno IRC to say "attack the big guy please" they give off an intense feeling of "attack" to nearby Tenno directed at a specific target. Again, 100% pure fanfiction.
As for communicating with other non-Tenno entities, I'm not sure. It's possible that Lotus and the Cephalons can be targeted for said telepathy/ understand it, and possibly even other figures as well. However, another likely scenario is that we utilize our light projection to simply display messages for others who are not privy to our telepathy.

What about the cephalon fragments found around the starchart that gives lore about how Ordis was made and the Octavia comic about how a former Tenno voluntarily turned herself into a cephalon(possibly Suda)

I feel like the Lotus Cephalon can be considered the Codex these days, just with less feigned interactivity. Also there's now Cy for the Railjacks.

in ordis case he used to be a mercenary...known as ordan karis but due eventuall wrongs to the orokin empire he was turned into a cephalon and all his bad features were removed and only the goodone remain like how ordis can be loyal and compassionate...but also he glitches...these are signs of his past life and his personality when he was still human...cephalon suda chose to be a cephalon because she was ill and continuity could kill her because it required ones consciousness to be transferred from one body to another which is how the orokin were rendered immortal bt suda was sick her she had a brain dysfunction so she chose to be a cephalon...she happened to be a resercher in music and so that was her duty a a cephalon...somehow suda and simaris knew each other in theyre human lives thats why they resent each other

cephalons are people before they are cephalons. ordis was a person before he was a cephalon. ordis was the most badass person in all of warframe in my opinion.

I don't know ho the others, but i was always thinking that maybe crack in Ordis' visual form, his sometimes very combatative lines for e.g. "Did you visualised a bloody battle... ME TOO" are remanings of his previous role as an AI of advanced Orokin warmachine, which was overtaken by Sentiens', and the only way to rescue Ordis from being destroyed and prevent him from keep serving the Sentiens was to reprogram him (what could resoult with destruction of some memories) and place somwhere far from battelfield, where he couldn't get controled by sentients again. So he was assigned to Tenno as ship Cephalon. At least this is my theory about Ordis, i would like to know what other think about it.
This seems plausible as ordis talks about "Misplacing" memories of the old war.

Like some corpus Cephalon is deployed to directly destroy the tenno and greneer. Or just some Corpus ship actually behaving as if it had a Cephalon for protection and efficiency. Damn that'd be fun having a whole ship actually work against us, shutting down live support and closing doors constantly while harassing us with metric flufftons of bots... Damn being sweaped away by like 20 bursas would be hard to deal with.
DE just needed to make hacking all the time more fun/less long for those missions... I see the problem.
btw (not hating) there are 4 cephalons we talk to: cephalon suda, simaris, ordis, and the jordas golem one.

Am I misreading, or is there a typo in the "cephalons" Tenno language? The first character looks like a CH as in Chill, whereas it should be S as there is no soft C in tenno language.

Funny, I was just trying to get to grips with all three languages today.
I don't think ordis is necessarily...stable... There seem to be cracks on his projection and it seems some of our systems are overrun by infestation, perhaps he may be programmed to be humorous but he seems more glitchy than funny.

Hi, Stallord, I while ago i manage to take a picture of Suda´s true body ( i.imgur.com/tkfAZX2l.jpg ) , this leads me to believe that Ordis cracks´s are not a visual representation but actual damage to his body, Simaris seems to be the one actually using a projected image, I would guess because his body is larger, probably great part of the room he is in, as for the ones in conclave could actually be really small so they use a projections, or the whole conclave is sort of a cerebro room (x men), and everything there is a projection.

+Silver Solund This Came out before Jordas(Well I'm pretty sure) Cephalon Jordas was a Cephalon in a 3rd Class Frigate that was corrupted by the infestation. Jordas is still semi-conscious, and has a bit of lore behind him in game including The Runner Synthesis Entry, The Jordas Precept, and The Jordas Verdict.
