  • Hey everyone!
This video is aimed to help people tune their Mazda Bravo/Bounty/Ford Couriers with acceptable exhaust gas temperatures. Also to help understand the trade-off between over fueling and under fueling to help find the perfect power-to-fuel ratio on a diesel. By showing you what sort of temperatures and fuel adjustment I am running this video is attempting to help guide people trying a similar setup.
As always thank you for watching and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

@Finndawg No problem, just a rarity to find in-depth content on this engine.
For its time, it was a good design, and I like them.
They also seem to go forever, usually outlasting the "ute" itself. Like I've seen many cases where the car is falling apart or needs a lot of work, but the engine is still sweet.

Hey Mate, Love your vids. I've heard that the radiator fans actually suck about 5HP of power. Have you considered removing the blades and using an electric fan? @@Finndawg no thats not bad at all tbh, considering you get less than that with a petrol and less KW than the diesel

Wow I didn't even think a WLT could handle all that boost I have a 2010 Ford ranger with WLT I always have oil leaks its pretty annoying recently rebuilt the turbo aswell

They're good for upto 30psi on stock internals, I wouldn't say it'd be safe to run 30 consistently although you'd definitely be sacrificing longevity and reliability. I'd say 20-24psi is the sweet spot for these engines in terms of longevity, reliability, decent power and performance, I also get about 10-11L/100km as well.

That inlet manifold is not gonna have equal air flow per cylinder. That is making it a much finer balance of EGTs/soot/power and makes tuning much more limited. That would be the next thing to address IMO. Great build otherwise.
