Today, we are going to check the new Eufy Floodlight WiFi Security Camera. We will check out the features, setup, settings, installation and we will be testing the camera with a battery of tests and see if this camera can be a better choice than the Ring floodlight cam. I will be doing a separate video comparing the Eufy Floodlight Cam with the Ring floodlight camera in a later video.
Thank You Eufy for sending me this floodlight cam to be reviewed.
Watch until the end because there is an issue with this camera that I'm hoping that Eufy can fix...or at least it is an issue in the camera unit that they sent me.

Hello Guys,
Eufy has emailed me and answered the questions and issues that were brought regarding the floodlight cam and also their video doorbell:
Floodlight Camera
Short Motion Detection Range
We use PIR sensor and image motion detection algorithm to identify valid event. PIR sensor can sense moving objects with heat signature. But it also has some downsides:
Hot wind or swinging bushes or direct sunlight may trigger the sensor by accident.
When the environment temperature goes high, the temp difference between environment and object body is less. The PIR sensor will become less sensitive.
Moving towards or leaving the sensor is less sensitive than moving vertically.
So we pick the PIR sensitivity carefully to balance the detection range and chance of false detection. Image motion detection algorithm is also used to filter out possible false detection.
We suspect the inconsistent detection range may caused by movement patent difference. We are adjusting sensitivity parameters and running field test now. If everything goes well, we will share some updates with you later this week. If you have other suggestions or ideas, we would love to hear as well.
App UI Bug
When checking the Activity Zone, we don’t see the “back” arrow.
The UI design made it this way in purpose because the camera supports multiple zones.
When tapping one activity zone, user have the choice to edit it.
When tapping outside of the activity zone, user can see the tool bar.
In the review, the activity zone almost occupies full screen. So it’s hard to tap outside of activity zone. We will also evaluate the possibility to give hint to user when entering the Activity Zone page.
Black color version
Yes, we have the black version. Stay tuned for its launch!
Integration with cloud storage or HomeBase
Integration with eufyCam HomeBase is under development. Doorbell is the first model. Then the floodlight camera comes. By then, user can backup video footages to HomeBase.
Mode Integration
Thank you for the suggestion. We will evaluate it.
Video Doorbell
Since launching the video doorbell in June, we have made a lot of improvements on software, which includes:
Recording
2K video recording. (Settings - Video Quality - Recording Quality)
Continuing recording when answering the doorbell ring. (Settings - Video Quality - Record while live viewing after Doorbell is pressed)
Notification
Selecting notification types from text only/text and thumbnail/text first and then thumbnail. (Settings - Notification)
Jumping to history event or live view when taping a notification. (Settings - Notification)
Snoozing App notification and chime sound for a specific duration. (Devices - Snooze icon)
Integration with eufyCam HomeBase is under development. We expect to support it in Dec. By then, user can backup video footages to HomeBase.
Please add a feature where ALL the videos can be downloaded at once. Also a wind barrier in future models would be great to add clarity to the sound.
@@robertberin4872 Check out youtube-dl which can download a complete CZcams playlist. Hopefully LifeHackster will make playlists for every brand or model camera system.

Hey Lifehackster...is it possible for you to do a review on the Swann - 1080p Wi-Fi Floodlight Security Camera???
Hmmm no mention of Apple HomeKit or HSV?
You're the reason companies send updates to devices. Thank you sir. Keep it up.
Thank You. I appreciate it.
@@LifeHackster Hi ...have you experienced anymore issues with the camera not detected motion. Mine was working fine then all of a sudden I'm not getting notified. I had mine at default and it was working and even. Tried to change it and still not detecting
I bought my doorbell because of your Review and now I just bought the cam. Keep up the great work!
What I love about your videoes is that you explain in detail what to do and not to do. Thanks for being so thorough.
Thank You. I appreciate it.
Ok I got mine and installed in the cold Canada winter and it is working great with almost zero false triggers and is not triggered by the snow. This is the fourth floodlight camera I have tried and this is a winner. I hope it does not get any colder than -20. Local storage and no monthly fees. This is highly recommended. Forget Swann, ring, blink.
This guy has the best reviews and details.
I like Eufy's approach of non cloud service required to get full features from their products. And I I know I will get some hate, but you ring users please stop with it won't replace my ring. It's fine. you're into ring eco system, you're already paying to play so it makes sense to to add to the existing. Believe it or not there are many who do not want there information on cloud servers stored. And that's where Eufy comes in.
I have Arlo Pro and Pro 2 with paid service and 2 Eufy Cam and the Eufy doorbell..the Eufy picture is way better and the sound is much better also!
Wow
Thanks for the detailed video. I still find it a little absurd that this thing is $150, the "bulbs" can NOT be replaced...and the warranty on the LEDs is only 1 year.
Hello,
I would like to see them fix this motion detection issue. I think eufy is a great brand. I am about to buy a floodlight so I hope they fix it before I make a decision. Please keep us posted. Thank you for such great videos!!
IH
THE BEST security camera review video EVER. Hands down. Great work and thank you.
I was considering getting this floodlight. I bought the Eufy 2 pack cameras based on your recommendations and they are working great. I wasn't sure about this flood light, but knowing that it doesn't record to the base station clinched my decision.
They are working on that feature..to record to the base station but I don't know when it will be implemented.
Which one did you end up buying
Nice job appreciate your review. I'm currently looking at floodlight security cameras to replace my existing floodlights. Right now its down to Ring and Eufy. Your reviews go a long way in helping me decide.
Thanks, Peter
Thank you for watching.
Looking at buying this camera and just found your testing. Hopefully they have fixed the issues by now (2022). Very nice job on the video, testing, and narrative. Thank you for sharing this with the world !!
Could you update your experience with your new model
Great video Lifehackster. Wow, I was bummed out to see that the Eufy Floodlight Cam stopped giving alerts. Watching from the couch gave me the impression that the video and audio quality were better than the Ring Floodlight Cam. Now knowing the product was buggy and the software is disjointed from Eufy's other line of products, I will pass on the Eufy Floodlight Cam and install the Ring Floodlight Cam at my Father's home.
The video and especially the audio from the footage is pretty good and the camera can pick up my voice even I was 40 feet away.
I was very impressed with your video the details and explanation of the product this is the first time I seen your video and it only took me a few seconds to subscribe keep up the good work you’re an excellent product tester
I'm doing research to determine what security cameras to install at my home. Your video is very theral and informative. Thank you and I'll be tuning in to your other product reviews.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Cheers for all the detailed videos dude. After having 2 attempted break-ins in 2 years, I've been a far more informed purchaser in the minefield that is security cameras.
Another excellent review. I Love your videos. They are always in depth and truly help me to make informed purchases.
As for the camera, Ring Floodlight certainly seems better in several ways...one of which being longer video storage on a cloud (for a fairly cheap price).
That is also one thing that I haven't mentioned... only 4GB of storage.. they should have at least made it 16 GB..
Wow. Dude. Your review is amazing. I like your style and approach. You get to the key points and cover the questions for us simple minded, non-tech people. Thank you. Keep up the great work.
Now that was an amazing Review!
Guy has so many security cameras. Wrong house to rob lol.
:)
No kidding. Holy sheep sh*t
What’s a camera do other than deter? What if the criminal doesn’t care? How’s the camera protect you then?
@@rabbi7933 he can check the video footage after he's been robbed. why I prefer 24/7 monitoring.
@@GooseDanny how does that make you safer?
I was really about to buy this one but I have doubts now. Thank u for this review. God bless!
Audio quality was fantastic. If you get the motion detection sorted out I would like to see if you get a notification when walking straight toward the floodlight camera.
I will... hopefully, they will fix and release an update soon.
Awesome review, man. Very in-depth.
Thank you.
That is so disappointing. I bought the 4 camera Eufy System on your recommendation and i love it. It works so well. I had very high hopes for this floodlight cam but when you said it doesn't record to the base station i was like WTF.. I'm sure they'll sort out the motion detection bug soon.
Thanks for this great review Life Hackster. You have saved me even more money yet again.
I think they have plans on implementing it ...I don't know when though. Thanks.
@@LifeHackster They haven't been released in Australia just yet so hopefully when they do you would of done all their beta testing and we'll get a product that actually works. Like you said, a black version is also a must. Cheers.
Just bought this to replace my swaan flood cam.. hopefully its better..
Your videos are great. It would be really cool to see Eufy integration with a Synology NAS (surveillance station), instead of having to use a home base. I've got like 30TB worth of space to play with. Eufy if you can see this, please allow us to use our servers/NAS devices 😀
I have to try it out eventually..just to test it out.. thanks..
@@LifeHackster Im looking forward to it 😀
Great, Job enjoy your video clips. I just ordered a Gufy Doorbell because of you. My Ring Doorbell bottom stopped working, however the motion on the ring still working. That was my 2nd Ring doorbell so now I will try another.
Thanks LifeHackster! You just saved me time and money. I'll be buying another Ring Floodlight cam! 🤙
You are welcome.
Why Ring when the picture quality on the Eufy is better and Eufy is cheaper?
@@tonypowell250 Did you watch the video? I'll save you time, go straight to 14:45 and enjoy! I'm not loyal to a brand name but I am loyal to the security of my family. I hope this answered your question.
Wait until you do a comparison with this floodlight camera and ring. I can’t wait
I will be...
LifeHackster I’m so excited
That's a shame! I wanted to like this cam! I like the lights and looks of it! Keep us posted it they fix it. thanks for sharing!
I will.. I'll be emailing them.
About the Short Motion Detection Range: did Eufy fix this issue? It's the only thing that's keeping me from buying this vs the Ring
Yes they fixed it.
Just picked up my floodlight and luvin it! Thanks bro. Salamat 🤙🏽
Can this spotlight cam be added to the eufy 2 base with the other cameras?
I love your reviews great job again. The question that I have about this camera is after it's mounted can you turn the camera left or right. Thanks
Had the same motion alert issues with the Euffy video doorbell and with no resolution I switched to the Nest video doorbell no problems so far 😀
I need to revisit and check again their doorbell and see if it is better.
Love the videos. Do you think a software/firmware update will allow the floodlight cam to save to the home base or will it require a whole new product? Tempted to buy one this holiday season but would like it to be able to save to my home base at some point. Thanks!
fantastic genuine review !!! great work
Thank You. I appreciate it.
@Security Baron
first: your reviews are EXCELLENT, i love the content, it is very HIGH QUALITY
second: regarding SS
apparently you just pay for the equipment and can self monitor, again this is what the sales rep told me on the phone. i am still researching different options.
third: need your advice!
im in the process of a new home construction 300 sqft. i want to have a good system which wont break the bank which i can do self monitoring.
here is what i am looking for:
1. wired cameras, with lights and motion, probably 4-8, for outdoor. ideally to not have to purchase a separate monitor . so if there is an app or free software which i can use on my laptop/android that would be great, free storage on a dvr is fine
2. no interior cameras
3. use cameras over the front entry to avoid purchasing a video doorbell
4. front entry lock which has keypad entry so i dont need a key
5. alarm system for motion detection and if this could integrate with the cameras or be the same system that would be great
got any ideas? thanks in advance, keep your good content coming!
I bought this product and it still has a lot of bugs yet. There's no human identification for the motion setting unless you have it hooked up to Google Assistant or Alexa. Even when playing around in the settings, the motion detection gets triggered by anything that twitches and bird farts. Freaken ridiculous, even when I have it on the lowest sensitivity setting! Also (I bought two) my front floodlight, the lights won't stop flickering at night when the motion detection is set off. Looks like a disco dance club in my front yard! On a good note, the night color vision is pretty good, the resolution is better then most cameras out there and the free 3+ Gigs of storage is awesome. Till they fix the motion setting, I would hold off on buying this camera.
Did you happen to get the 2k version of this that was just released? I'm curious about a review for it.
Not yet but I’ll try to get one. Thanks
Have they fixed the motion detection? Wanted to pick one up but am now hesitant.
Thanks for a great review. Are you able to view a live video on a cell phone when you are not at home? if yes, do you have to configure anything on your wireless router?
Yes and no configuration.
The video and audio quality is actually very good. It's a shame the detection has a malfunction.
I agree... I'm really surprised on the audio even when I'm far away...
My Ring floodlight no longer records in color at night. It still records at night, but in gray color only. Some of the lumen lights no longer light up. Well, that's what brought me here to checkout the Eufy floodlight camera.
If you are subscribed to protect plus, you will be able to get it replaced for free...Mine is going on more than 2 years and had no issues yet... (knock on wood)
@@LifeHackster ---- Wouldn't it be too late to sign up now for Protection Plus? I've had the floodlight over a year.
Can you rotate the camera side ways, as I noticed you only went up and down on the camer?
You should try tilting the camera down a bit. Think the sensor is tilt up to high. You have a lot of sky in the camera
I’ll try that next time. Eufy is trying to fix this issue.
Great work! Excellent honest review. Keep it up it is really helpful.
great video thankyou but what would happen if we put one front and back of our house how would that work on my phone
thankyou
joey
You just add the cameras to your app. You can even name them front and back.
Hi, Another good review, can you please tell me whats the total range, my outbuilding is around 50 ft from my house, will the detection work for the lights/ alert
It should work if there are not a lot of walls, trees etc..that can block the WiFi signal.
I appreciate the detailed reviews, thank you! Couple questions, has the integration to HomeBase for the Eufy Floodlight camera been released yet? Also, will the HomeBase integration work for the wired Eufy video doorbell or only the New battery powered Eufy video doorbell?
Great test as always, LifeHackster. I liked the video and sound quality. However, I feel it is a big downside that the camera has got no cloud storage. Any burglar just needs to rip the camera off and remove the sim card. Defeats the object, doesn't it? And getting the camera on the market without testing the software enough is bad planning. Why should one buy a product that is faulty? There are so many good points, yet it falls down with the little things. Presumably, the financial director said, "it works, get it on the market." They should have listened to the developer. 😉😎
Eufy actually is advertising and printed on the box of their cameras that there is an optional cloud storage but there is nothing on their website or on the app on how to do it... Even just getting a backup to the base station if you have the Eufy cam E would be better...They do need to work on getting their cameras to integrate together.
Yeah, even better would be home base integration, no monthly fees.
I got two I wish the one in my driveway the light wouldn’t keep coming on. Even when the motions not detected they really gotta fix that or update it. So you can change the sens on the flood light. It’s on its lowest motion setting and that doesn’t control it.
I watched another review of this cam a while ago and the reviewer had the same issue with the motion detection, so it still has not been fixed yet. I am either going to buy the Ring or the Swan.
Eufy just emailed me and they are working to get this issue fixed.
then they need to hurry up!
You do a nice job on these products....dogs barking on the nite shots toooo....(the other vids)....take care...
Great review. Did Eufy follow up on their testing? I see they have a black one now too which is what I wanted. But the motion detection has me concerned.
Yes..this floodlight is better now..
Please review the 2k version of Eufy floodlight .
Can I turn the light off and on by the switch on my wall that brings power to the flood light and still have the camera work? Only want the light on when I switch it on but I don't see any way to without doing it by the app
Eufy users, do you experience any bug now? I'd like to buy one but some amazon reviews mention the low motion rage issue and also bug triggering light/camera all night. Love to hear your experience!
I have purchsed this product based on your review. I will install over next few days👍. Just 1 question regarding montion sensor, will this light up every time it rains? I live in scotland 🙉 rains alot.
Kind regards
Robert.
Hi excellent video Thank you. Quick question, what is the diameter of the junction box? Thank you
Subscribed!!! Great info! Thank you!
great video....have you a link for where to get the junction box?
I wish there was better demonstration of adjustable ball joint...
Thank you..Great review as always! What is the diameter of the junction box? I just got 4" box from HD but the back of Eufy base is bigger.
The round boxes should be standard and the base will protrude a bit but not that it will have a gap.. on this video, I got the box for outside install and not the one that in ceiling type.
@@LifeHackster Thank you for the fast reply.. Keep the videos coming! 👍
You’re a great and through reviewer, but one thing I wish you’d do with these security camera reviews is test the latentcy between actual motion and sound compared to what is heard and seen on your phone. I think this is important because a latency that is a little too long (5 seconds or more) really makes speaking to the person through your phone impractical, and it might even present a security problem. When you activate the notification, you should spend a few moments with your handheld camera pointed at your phone screen while you wave your arms as you’re standing in front of the security camera to test latency.
I haven’t tested any WiFi camera that has a latency of more than 5 seconds...the most would be 2-3 seconds..it is not enough to be a security concern or cause issues with 2 way audio..rest assured if I review one that has long latency, I’ll call it out.
LifeHackster awesome, thanks!
You mentioned the door bell vids will be able to be backed up to the home base by Dec. I just ordered the wired doorbell is this backup capability now possible?
How high up off the ground is your camera? Great video!
It is only around 7 feet.
And is this have wide angle ? Should I used this is additional to my front yard 2c ? Or should I just instal 2c 2 cameras at the backyard what you think ??
I was gonna buy the 4 cameras 2c eufy and place 2 in the back yard ? Or get 1 floor light Conrad for the back yard ?
I was all for this floodlight until the motion detection failed at 30feet which is a major flaw...ill stick to ring thanks
Is the video recording of the eufy stored on your phone, or on a SD card inside the cam that you have to disassemble to get to it?
Stored on the camera in integrated memory.
Learned it's stored on phone as 'events'. The clips get wiped on phone after 1 day.
@@ChristopherDillman No the clips are not stored on your phone. You have to download them to your phone.
Question to confirm your setup. Is the camera you installed hooked up to a constant 120V source or to a light switch? I'm guessing that for the camera to work correctly it required constant power and should not be on a switch circuit.
You are great...black camera would be nice...think wired are the ones with a screen..don’t like the phone used for all of this stuff...oh well ...thanksss
I trust your review because you picked out problems.
Lifehackster- have you seen the new Eufy Cam 2C? Any demo unit or plans for a review? Seems Eufy is replacing the Cam E with this already??
I will when it comes out.
Amazon has the 2 camera set with home base version 2 for $249 on their site.
Very informative video! Quesion: At about 3:24, you've managed to connect the wires into a plug.. Any advise on how to do that? If you can name the process on doing that or share a YT link that shows that, that'll help me tremendously in installing this for my driveway... Thank you!
Thanks for the video. Do you know whether this will work with a WIFI network having a hidden SSID? Thanks
I concur there are inconsistencies in the motion detection. Best motion detection is from yi however the 7 day free limit sucks. Audio is excellent however the pic quality appears to be the same as my yi 720p.
Hi!! Thanks for the video!
Can I plug it in to a 220v plug?
Id like how you test the plate to catch them criminals at night where they likely to run off in their car, timing, quality, setup, and all others important testing before buy is valuable due to price of each company has their pros and cons, thanks hopefully the company sees your testing and will update more technologies.
is there a switch that you can switch to keep lights on? I am hoping to use this on my deck when I am grilling at night also....thanks.
Can you link multiple eufy smart floodlights, so when one detects motion all flood lights turn on together?
Hi Adrian, did you find out if it can?
Ido own a Hikvision wired system but I'm interested in Eufy floodlight camera system for another house.
Thank you 🙏🌹
Which way should the wing nut around the camera turn to loosen? I am having a hard time turning the camera to properly angle it. That nut seems to be too tight and not sure which direction should turn to loosen. I cant find any support on this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Lefty loosey...
@@LifeHackster thanks. Actually did that but seems to be way too tight. Tried using pliers but it moves the whole camera with it and doesnt losen. Will keep trying thanks.
Ok so I had asked the question about how you replace lights if one goes out and the answer is you don't these lights are permanent and the system as a whole is designed to last approximately 5 years... give or take.
Hey LifeHackster
First of all, congrats for your awesome work.
I have 2 strange questions that didn't come up through the rest of the comments.
I intend to buy and install the Eufy Floodlight Camera just above my main door.
1)Can you turn each floodlight (their base) towards any direction? or is there any restriction in the angle?
I want to cover a narrow corridor in front of my door, so I need both floodlights to be turned as centrally as possible. Or keep the one floodlight as close as possible to the camera to light the corridor and the other turned vertically to light my entrance.
Is any of these possible?
2)And what about a light that is gonna break down lets say after 2,3 years (and out of warranty) or a faulty camera? Could I somehow replace just the faulty parts by getting new ones? Or the whole process won't worth the repair?
Thank you in advance and apologies for the long essay haha
Do you have a link to where you purchased your junction box? Thank you and love your videos.
Hi I just watched your video and I have 2 exact flood light eufy camera and have the same problem with both camera I've tried everything but still lights and motion not coming on .I can turn on manually camera is working great except the lights on motion.
wonder if any other Eufycam models have the same issue
I know the Eufy Cam E has no issue... because I checked to compare... on the clip where I showed you the issue, you will see that the Eufy cam E is also installed on the side :)
What are your thoughts on the Sticker Eye camera from Eye Cloud
I have no experience with this brand.. sorry.
Wow
May have missed it but is there a setting where you can set the light to stay on without giving you notifications? So if you have guests over you can light up the yard?
Can you adjust power of lights? I want to have subtle lighting, as I live in apartment block
Can you do a review of the Litmor capsule floodlight pls, I’m interested how these lights compare to the Eufy spotlights
Hello Sir, i was wonder if you could tell me how far of a angle the sensor and camera can reach? My walkway is 90degrees from my front door. Thank you
Please Request kami outdoor camera review thank you under yi
I know I reviewed Kami before - czcams.com/video/nJHzt72nsho/video.html
Darn, I was hopeful.
I just picked this up, Replaced it with my Ring, I like it, but the field of view sucks compared to ring, Eufy field of view is 140 degrees. Ring Floodlight Field of view is 270 degrees. Wish Eufy would up its field of view. I am keeping the Eufy because of no fee's, but i am missing that 270 degrees when it comes to field of view ;o/
Then again i am not missing Rings Monthly fees :o)
Good review...too bad it does not work...looking for a local storage solution..I do not like these monthly plans
awesome bruh. love the content

Hi love your vids 👍🏻👍🏻 I just bought eufy flood light cam and have noticed some bugs 1 even of motion boxes on or off it was constantly going of with the snow coming down last night also with sensitivity at lowest. 2 it doesn’t pick up proper movement until close by also same with the lights. 3 sometimes no notification when it does pick up false movement and light come on and I’ve gone to back door wondering why the lights are on go to app and nothing there. It’s only 3 days old and is updated
And the 4th last night a Adjusted the volume to max for speaker and tonight when I was checking he settings the volume was back down at factory setting
