    Just a quick video showing how I replaced the rear brake pads and rotors on a 2017 Honda CR-V with the electronic parking brake. I do not have the advanced scan tool which can put this vehicle into a service mode and retract the parking brake, but I was able to remove the parking brake motor by taking out the small 5mm screws and manually turn the caliper mechanism back in by using a T-47 Torx bit on the back until it stopped. This then allowed me to push the caliper pistons back in easily (without rotating them). If you try to push the caliper pistons in without turning the mechanism in on the back, you can damage the calipers.

    Please note:
    Do not put any wires or power into the electrical wiring or connector that is connected to the vehicle's wiring harness and/or computer.
    Do not turn on the car with the electronic parking brake motor disconnected.
    Both methods seem to work just fine.
    Tools Needed:
    Large screwdriver or small pry bar
    Wire Brush or wire wheel (please wear safety glasses)
    12mm socket and/or wrench
    Brake Grease
    The torque specs I found online:
    17 ft. lbs. for the Caliper Slide Pin Bolts
    80 ft. lbs. for the Caliper Bracket Bolts
    (I always recommend verifying the torque specs in your manual)
    Since we didn't open the hydraulic system or any brake lines, there is no need to bleed the brakes afterwards.

    Hi, just saw your video after i did my brakes today. And got error codes with parking brake. I didnt do the clockwise turn with "the mechanism in motor. (dont have scan device too).
    Is it possible to do that after the erro code apear? If i clockwise the mechanism now the error codes disapear? Thanks, i should watch this video before my work ..:/

    My front brakes were changed and the garage put on "the standard brake pad and rotor" instead of Honda parts. As I drove out I noticed a scraping noise that increased with speed. Brought it back and they said " we don't see anything wrong." I had everything else checked out (alignment, tires, etc) and it all points to those new brakes. So what's causing the new noise? Any guesses? What should be my next step? Thank you.

      Most likely the brake pad abutment clip is sticking out too much and the rotor is rubbing on it. It should be an easy fix. They can probably spin the wheel with the car lifted up and see it right away.

      Sometimes you need to use a screwdriver to push the metal tab of the abutment clip in the recess in the caliper bracket. It’s a pretty common issue on these, but an easy fix.

      Hello did you fix the issue? We had changed our rear brake pads and had the same issue, a scraping noise and eventually started feeling the car shaking slightly after 15-20+ mph. I will look into the clips as well.

      @@HaydenLovie The Honda experts said to use official Honda brakes not some other brand. Instead of following that advice, Cinco Auto (the auto shop) replaced this noisy brake they put on with another non-Honda brake from O'Reilly. That did not solve the problem either. I finally brought it to the Honda dealership and they replaced with the official Honda brakes and the noise was gone. So I had to pay ANOTHER $650 for these Honda brakes and wasted tons of time at Cinco Auto which gave horrible service.

      @@carefulconsumer8682 Some pads are noisy. Especially if they are semi metallic. It's not the shops fault. I use akebono proact pads on my Honda's. Work great and are quiet. Any independent mechanic who specializes in Honda's recommend these pads.

    Don't get how to adjust brake but do it for both or after finish each one ?

      After finished with both sides pump the pedal until it feels firm without pressing it all the way to the floor. The parking brake will automatically adjust when you apply it the first time.

    Hello I did this job on my 2018 Honda crv but I don’t know what I did wrong, now I’m getting a bunch of error codes, how can I fix that

      @@DantheFixitMan I’m getting 3 codes first one is C1100-94 second code is C1110-94 third one is C1110-79

      @@christianrodriguez5378 looks like that’s indicating a malfunction with the EPB actuator. I would start by double checking the connections to make sure they are good and a clip didn’t get bent or broken or anything.

      Also, if the car was turned on while it was disconnected, that would also cause it to set those codes.
