No, the precursor of the TBM wasn't the Mooney 301. Mooney 301 is at the origin of the basic idea when it was sold to Mooney France and not to Socata. There is no match between the TBMs and the Mooney 301 except that they are both single-aisle turboprop aircraft. The TBMs shares more aerodynamical design with the PC-12 series for example.
