Power Con is Better than SDCC: Change my Mind

- I went to PowerCon last week and I personally think this show is better than SDCC for Toy Collectors. Allow me to show you why!

Lexington Comic-Con but over time they've changed with they pay with phone app.
I’ve been to Power Con twice. The last Anaheim show and now this year in Columbus. I’ve attended other toy shows, comic cons but after what I felt was one of my most disappointing experiences at this years SDCC I just felt like Power con was awesome. The show was great but hanging out with sone of the toy tubers I’ve come to watch every week and going to the after party Saturday was a blast. The sheer amount of toys and personalities was unbeatable it felt like going to a reunion or a party more then just a typical con.
I can’t wait to buy tickets for next year and I don’t think I’ve ever felt that way about a con. I’ve had cons where I knew I’d be going because it’s what you do if that’s your thing but I think maybe Power Con meant more to me because we don’t have the TRUs anymore and all you’ll see at Targets and Walmarts are the big 2. If you can find what you’re even looking for. But having the chance to see so many 3rd party and Indy companies and meet the people behind them and get hands on with the toys made me want to spend money on those toys. Spero, Ramen, Invincinle, Savage Crucible, Boss Fight, and so many more. I spent more then I planned but I have no regrets. Can’t wait to do it again next year.

Have you been to SDCC?
For me, it’s San Diego Comicon. Yes, it’s become commercialized and I love it. There’s lots of Hollywood actors and studios that show up, except this year because of the actors and writers strike. -The weather is the best. Toy companies and independent shops are abundant. The diversity of restaurants, bars, and things to do outside of the convention are awesome.
Did you visit Savage crucible? That's my most anticipated line coming. My figure of the year is going to be a fight between Savage Crucible and Furay Veteran Williams
Dude, I absolutely feel you on the comic book overpay. Been there, done that! Almost did it again over the summer, but pulled the phone out to do a price and cover check.
That one shot of you, Ace, Ninja, Bobby and Laserpants was about 60% of my weekly YT viewing in one shot.
JoeFest in Augusta has been a consistently fun show to attend. And up until it got super big, Dragon Con in Atlanta was a great time. Just don’t dig the crowds these days.
went to Comic Con for a solid decade, from 1994 to 2004 , skipped 2005 , then went back one last time in 2006 , and I only went back in 2006 because I was working on the first Transformers movie at the time and was given free tickets by someone in production ... gave up Comic Con for one simple reason , the crowds .. , it got so difficult to just find parking , forget getting food , and the lines were insane , waited hours to meet Bob Cane , it just felt like a lot of effort time and money with little return.. Power Con went to the first 5 or so , when they were in Torrance CA , had a blast each time , it was more fan collector friendly , I will choice Power Con over Comic Con each time.. but Burning Man wins the prize .. ..

Yep one of the vendor's had the Amazon exclusive Bad Batch set, and do you know how much they wanted for it ? $180 the only reason comic-con vendor price stuff so high is the space they are borrowing for three days.
Dam I thought that was you at power-con. By the time I figured it out you swamped by people around Shartimus area. Glad you enjoyed the show. First one I have attended in fifteen years or more. I only had one day, Saturday to attend, because of work. Hopefully, I can say hello next year if I am not on the road. Excellent show at power-con. It is busy, but not too overcrowded and most of the dealers actually deal.
The first convention I went to was when I was 18 back in the mid 90s. I got taken advantage of as well on a sale. I bought what I thought was a loose but complete Luke in Stormtrooper disguise. What I didn’t realize was that the helmet was a hollowed out Stormtrooper head instead of the original helmet.
Good to see that old outlaw, Kyle Peterson. Imo that Cat's Lair is worth the asking price, yet that Turtle Sewer Lair isn't. Sad, I feel like Turtle Lair shoulda been a crowdfund as well.
One of the best edited con videos ever. Fast paced, showing the buys, no long drawn out booth tours. It's quieter than San Diego that's for sure.
The Arnold statue is in Columbus, because he holds his annual Arnold Expo in that same convention center. It's a huge fitness expo that brings a lot of muscle-y people into town. That's it. He has no other connection to the city really.
I totally agree having been at both shows this year. I saw you at Power Con but didn’t want to bother you. I grew up as a comic collector but I’m now firmly a toy collector and found myself buying lines I wasn’t sure about investing in because I hadn’t had the opportunities to see them in person and in some cases the ability to pick them up and feel them in hand and now I’m all in on AWOK, Mythic and Cosmic Legions, and preordered Invincibles Futurustic Combat Soilders. The Marshall from Ramen and Operation Monster Force
Man, one day i will go to one of these conventions. Ive always dreamed of going to one ever since i was a kid.
Just pick one and go! There are large comic book/collectible/pop culture conventions in nearly every major city at least once a year.

While SDCC is a huge con, i would say that just for an action figure experience it's not that great, unless you are going after the exclusives. Most of the tables are small, bring what you can resellers. While there are some big booths that bring lots of cool stuff, but if youre looking for loose, fodder or rare figs those arent in abundance at SDCC.

The problem with Comic Con is that it became too commercial and overblown. Never had a chance to go to Power Con. Sorry to hear what happened with the graded comic, but it's good to hear you enjoyed the rest of the convention overall.
like any other Con! You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
I caught sight of you while you were hanging with your crew, but unfortunately did not screw up the courage to go over and say hi. Mostly because I didn't want to lose my place in line to get tickets 😝 I very much agree with you that this is an amazing show. SDCC is essentially a mishmash of everything whereas PowerCon is much more action figure centric. If that's your jam this is the place you need to be and I have a feeling it's only going to get better as the years go on

I have to say that this con looked like a blast from all of the content providers I've seen footage from. It's good to see you out and about. I'm increasingly growing to appreciate you corner of the toy sphere more and more. Keep up the great work, the incredible energy and the genuine authentic version of yourself. I especially look forward to one day making a purchase from your store.

It was a good show. It was our first and we plan to go back next year. Maybe for all 3 days. Saturday didn’t seem enough. Saw you several times around the floor but you were busy and didn’t want to interrupt you lol

San Diego Comic con is much better experience for people coming to San Diego. It's overall experience that Power con couldn't do if they tried. Just my oppinion.

My most wanted figure, MOTU Masterverse Motherboard, was a SDCC exclusive. Another figure I really want, the Valaverse Swarm Horde, was a Power-Con exclusive.
Motherboard & SDCC are the clear winners for me. Maybe next year Power-Con will have a better exclusive?
If your only goal is toys, many cons are better than SDCC. If going for an overall experience and first look at stuff, SDCC is still tops for me.

We just don't know if it's true or not a lot the moment about the rerealises we just have to wait and see tomorrow if they show toys if not I think it's been a mistake somewhere down the line it's no one's fault
