I noticed a handful of comments about the tires in the rear of the TRX. While it’s true that adds weight, to counterbalance that there was a 200lb passenger in the Raptor as well as a stock spare tire under the raptors bumper.
Add aftermarket bumpers to the weight of the TRX. Stock vs. stock is just about an even race. I just wish I could afford an R at $110K plus dealer markup they'll be well over $130-$150K unfortunately.
That passenger you are talking about is about the additional weight the steel bumpers on the trx added. Plus the rear tires and rack are about 500lbs. And the 37’s on the trx are real 37’s not skinny wanna be 37’s on the raptor. I can assure you the 37’s on the trx are waaaaay heavier
That's a fair race I have to say same size tires the guy in the back of the Raptor he was well over 200 pounds look like so with the tires in the back that's probably Fair

Yeah, and what about the 37s on the TRX? That’s not 250lbs as to the spare wheels in the bed. Try 300lbs +. Oh, and the TRX has a spare under the bed too. Also add in the 200lbs steel bumper. Any other handicaps you want to throw at the TRX? Still ran as good as the Raptor.
The 10spd in the fords seems to be the secret sauce, keeps it the powerband pretty good.

@Farid Gadimov depends on race and drivers, both are crazy trucks but i believe the rr has a slight edge over the trx in a true race. Trx has a bit upper hand with launch control to always get the best start

@@eliasgutierrez6789 ford raptor R is a 5.2 liter dohc 32 valve v8 while the trx is a 6.2 liter ohv engine...i feel like the dohc, 32 valve engine has the slight upper hand in terms of more up to date engineering dynamics alone but of course, hemi's will forever be some of the best sounding v8's around...

The Raptor R starts with the exhaust valves closed. And you either have to put it in Baja mode or use the button on the steering wheel to change the mode and open the valves. It's really not complicated, non of these reviewers seem to get it right. But Great video! At least he got the tire size correct.

@@Daddy______ Think going the other way and putting the smaller tires on the Ford would of been worse for the Dodge. Smaller tires mean lower gearing for the Ford-and it was already hole shooting the Dodge.

@@alexiegomez1691 426 came after Ford was king with the 429, 428, and 427s. I think it was stupid Since Ford was the 1st to make Hemi's in the 30s to sell them off. Then after the 426s Pontiac came back in the late 70s to take the king spot. So very said Hemi's don't exist anymore. Name plate on a Magnum engine's don't count.

I'm pretty sure it can be flash in with an aftermarket programmer. Costing less than an oem flash.

Great video Parker with very good explanations, especially with the physics info included. IMO you can't go wrong with either truck. Both have their pros and cons but either one would be a blast to own.

The TRX in the video also has a leveling kit. I get matching tire sizes, but if everything else isn’t going to be factory spec aside from that, it’s really not an accurate race/comparison.

What RPM was the TRX launching from? I didn't hear the torque reserve system engage on any of the runs and on the settings screen it appeared to be above 2000rpm which is too high. Any feedback on that?

Yeah I agree a slight edge but I still like the sound of the RaptorR better. Maybe it’s just be but when it comes to performance vehicles in V8, Ford has that perfect sound.
The TRX has an 8sp trans, the torque multiplies better in Fords 10sp. It also has a more linear power band thanks to the 10sp... So yes, it's quicker off the line
Even more so when you replace the original tires with smaller diameter.

I think the best way to test them out would be, get two stock trucks and put 325 65 18s on the raptor r

I think that having the trucks designed around tire sizes matters too. The ford has proper axle ratios, etc for 37s, and the trx was geared and set up for 35s. Maybe if engineered around having 37s it would be different? Who knows. Also weight of tires/rims plays into it as well.

The ford has the same axle & trans ratios in 35 or 37” form the factory just changes the ECM
@@MS-mr4zm the dodge is not for 37s though, might be better to put the raptor on 35s, same tire, and then run it again. Since it’s just an ecm change, it would be easier to do that.
@@braidendespain28 yeah I agree that would be more apples to apples, I’ve owned 3 Raptors a ‘14, an ‘18 (that got totaled unfortunately) & now a ‘20, both gen2’s tuned, my ‘20 made 440whp/490rwtq w/ a 93 octane Gearhead tune. If you add some bolt ons & tune for e50/e85 or add meth injection more power, bigger turbos? Even more. The 3.5HO has fully forged internals/rotating assembly- shared w/ the Ford GT- only other vehicle that has this engine (albeit w/ a dry sump oiling system, a revised intake/exhaust & way bigger turbos), point is the 3.5HO can handle way more power than stock & it actually makes more power than advertised. I was always a V8 only guy, but w/ the forged guts & easy tunability the 3.5HO is really perfect, the R & TRX are basically overpowered, I’d rather bring the 3.5HO to close to the R power level & call it a day
The trx tires are heavier than the raptor tires as well your running a hybrid tire vs a all terrain and as mentioned the trx was designed for a 35” tire

You need to incorporate drones in your video. Two drones set up on objects following to provide the frontal and rear view or at least one drone with someone flying it to capture the race from different angles. It will save you a lot of editing time and provide a way MORE cooler race effects. Just my $0.02c
I think it’s great that you had this experience. This is awesome. I love the video at the same token. It looks like you got smoked every single time you said to go it didn’t matter which car you and I think the other person may just be a superior driver.
Parker..One hell of a video. Glad you switched the tires on the Ram. I love both and wouldn't have a problem with either in my garage. I like the exhaust on the Rapter R and feel the Ford seems a little more refined on the inside. I wish it had launch control but none the less got the job done. Curious to see how the 1/4 mile runs would have been. Great video man..Love the content..keep them up!
I agree changing tires but he needs to swap the 355 trx gears to 410s for a true equal race.

TRX has several weight addition/ speed hindering mods, I understand the extra person and spare in the RaptoR but my biggest argument is the 37/12.5 super heavy toyos on the TRX and the fact the 10wide rim is putting roughly 10 percent more rubber on the ground which leads to a major downfall on asphalt.
Go stock for stock if you get the chance. Really annoyed that ford is making that truck 20k more as well.

TRX has a meaner snarl but the R has a cooler growl that sounds smoother with its 32valves vs TRX’s 16valves
I LOVE both trucks, but this was not a fair race.. you have added a considerable amount of weight to that ram by:
-Adding two extra spare tires (I own a TRX I am aware that there is also a spare under the bed of that truck as well)
-FRONT & REAR bumper are not stock
-unknown what yellow square shaped objects are w/in the grill?
After noticing all of this I would say that it is an unfair race.
To make this a fair race I would at least consider stating in your video all of the aftermarket adjustments made on each truck and the total weight of said adjustments. Only then would the audience be aware of what actually they are comparing b/c this is not a stock v.s. stock race.
P.S. I think if your going to argue the 37” v.s. 35” tires then don’t add two tires in the bed of the truck and just make the only difference the tires and not everything else that has been added. (Also if you’re going to counter balance weight w/both trucks don’t use two different objects use the same objects not two tires then saying that the weight of that individual is equivalent. I think people want transparency and I don’t think that does a good job of showing it)

Because there is a passenger in the Raptor so the difference wouldn’t be that big.

Just priced out a Raptor R on Ford's site and a TRX on Ram's site
The TRX came right around $100k (Loaded, it was around $85k a year ago; inflation)
The Raptor R came in at $111k
Online, you cannot add 37s to a Raptor R
Raptor 801a/Raptor High and above all have pano roof.
But can change the TRX tire size when you bring it home 🤘
I was gonna say all f150s from the lariat up have panoramic roof option.
Here in Gatlinburg tn you can get any color you want with many options to choose from straight off the lot with less than 10 miles on the clock not 10k like 10 miles as they drove it on n off the truck and 1-4 people have test drove it. For $82-$87k don’t believe me take a look online. Edit - the raptor r seems to be exactly 1.5x the price around here cheapest one I can find local is 138k. For that you can get a scat pack and a TRX. We need a comparison of the 3.5 v6 raptor which seems to be a $81-$93k truck compared to dodges $82k+ truck
I've seen this race a dozen times now. The Raptor NEVER beats the TRX to 60, but eventually, it surpasses it. I believe in the 1/4 it would win. Either way who needs this much power and speed in a truck? Lastly, I'd love to have either ANYWAY!!!

Great video and a good comparison of what a TRX with added weight and rotating mass. Both are great trucks the way the come from the factory. The one thing I noticed was the Raptor was getting slower on every race, most likely was heat soaking faster than the TRX.
I heard the price difference between both fully loaded is about 20k. Is the 0.1 sec faster Raptor worth an extra 20k? Assuming they perform the same off-road.
The raptor has the better tried and true suspension
Would love to see them do an off-road race and alternating the lines they race on, that would be awesome as a 0-60 and a quarter mile race

Trx has 3.55 gears swap them to 410s then add 37s make them equal that way. You will see a big difference in the race.

One thing, the tires have very different tread with the TRX seeming to have a more off road capable tire which is not great for speed on the street. Another possible problem, did you actually measure the tires? They both may be 37' inch tires, but the T-Rex's tires appear, at that camera angle anyway, to be much larger, maybe by an inch or two? I'm a Ford guy so want the Raptor to do well, but fair is fair, and I'm not certain this was a fair race?😁😎👍✌
Umm no. The Ram is on 35's stock. Raptor R on 37's stock.
@@STEWDEEUmm, YES! 0:42 Parker states they are both running 37" tires for a fair comparison. At 0:31 It appears the Trx has larger tires though they are supposed to be 37's. It may just be the camera angles, but worth a look. The TRX's tires also appear to be more of an off road tire than the Raptors tires which would also slow it down. Here is a better view of the tires side by side 2:21 though the TRX seems to be parked about 6" behind the Raptor which could cause them to look larger? The TRX seems to have larger tires, and tires designed more for offroad both of which would make it slower. Just a thought, something to consider. 😁😎👍✌

I love all three brands of Detroit autos. I own numerous cars/trucks in my collection from all three companies. The TRX and the Raptor or Raptor R are absolutely equally amazing. Over the weekend I picked up a 2023 Shelby F-150 from Reddick Brown Ford in my state of Tennessee. I have drive the TRX and the Raptor as well. This Shelby is on another level. From what I’ve seen neither of these trucks would take the Shelby! But, maybe one day at a stop light I will meet one and we shall find out! Great video. 🇺🇸👍

Everyone is missing one key difference here. The Raptor has a gearing advantage - 4.10 gears vs the 3:55 gears in a TRX. Add that into the "physics" and you willl find that is a huge difference! If you could even up the gearing I'm sure the TRX would eat the Raptor everytime. Even when hauling the extra weight of the tires!

It’s all about the gear ratio. Apple to apples and I’ll call it a fair race. I love both trucks. They’re going to be very close regardless. It comes down to preference really. However, you get more for the TRX money. Raptor R plus dealer markup. Can’t justify that amount of money.
That's only because the R just came out. I remember the ridiculous markup of the TRX's as well, back when it first came out. Once the dust settles, I think both trucks will be close to the same price point.
Didn't reducing the tire diameter on the Ford for a drag race have a similar effect to reducing the gear ratio of the rearend making it more competitive than it originally was?

I am no ford dodge or chevy guy. If it has a engine I like it. I just know messing with trucks in general a little bigger tire then stock is slower without gearing for proper size. Not a true test without gearing trx for 37s.

After the races, the Ford went out to do some off-roading.
The dodge went to the shop for new ball joints, tie-rods and a transmission rebuild.

Gear ratio plays a huge factor on acceleration.

For all of the hoopla around the Ford, and given its advantages of weight, gearing, top-end power, transmission gear spread, etc, I've yet to see a single race !where it knocks the TRX out(both in stock format). It is astonishing that Ford had two years to ape the TRX and they didn't. And the R is considerably more expensive on top of that.
@@justingill5256 DOHC engines will always pack smaller displacement than pushrod engines, due to how tall the heads are and must clear the hood. Some pushrod engines, despite their cu. inches, are more compact in packaging than a DOHC equivalent(i.e. a GM small block vs a Ford V8).

Did yall tune the TRX to 37s? Each truck is tuned according to tire size, transmission, gear, etc... changing the tire size on the TRX to say make it even doesn't make since to me.
Also, the trx is geared for 35s, the Raptor for 37s. AND, throw the 500 lbs of tires/wheels in the back and try again, better yet, remove them altogether.
The Raptor comes with the same gear ratio regardless of tire size package.

I wanna see the raptor on 35 that'll be monstrous and I'm sure it'd be a little bit more faster than the trx but I'd say I'm impressed by the 37 set up from factory and can still hang with the trx at some point even pass it

I just ordered a fully loaded trx for 107k so no it’s not 30-40k unless you’re talking about a bare bone entry model which you can’t compare to a fully loaded ford.

Get the Ford Raptor, the truck is designed to handle rough drives, the Ram trx is a gimmick.
After 140k miles of rough driving the trx, the truck is done

This is an unfair race, looks like a stock Raptor R vs a lifted TRX with extra weight in the bed. TRX is already heavier from the factory and this one has even more weight added to it. Stock for Stock we know who dominates from a dig.
