removing the box actually Helps a ton. remove passenger vacuum pump. and resovoir 5 easy to get to bolts. and remove passenger side battery. and 5 bolts in the cab behind the dash. you can pull the entire assembly out and clean it.
im doing mine pretty soon to fix a couple stripped bolts at the back on the valve cover. but gives me a chance to use coil cleaner on the evaporator and clean any debries out of the a/c system

I seem to have decent air flow on mine. However, after a long drive it stops blowing out the vents with any force. I think it is freezing up due to insufficient air flow. After I stop using the AC for a bit, it eventually will start working, which makes me think it has thawed out. I really want to take the whole unit apart, but it looks a bit overwhelming.

@@paggre i haven't checked that, it blows out plenty cold when it is working, so I assumed the freon was fine.

Dirty evap coil can cause icing up. Evap can not properly absorb the heat due to dirty coil

This is definitely good information. I'm currently looking into purchasing a 6.0L powerstroke. I've heard that 6.0L powerstrokes are known to have problems and doesn't last as long as a 7.3L. What are the pros?

I have both. The cons are more maintenance, more expense, harder to work on. Pros - You'll save in fuel, have more power, better trans and shift strategy, more refined. I love my early 04 6.0, 187k on big tunes with factory head bolts. All factory, even down to the injectors. Runs harder than my 03 7.3 with over $10k in upgrades. Needs another $5k to run with the 6.0, and will eat more fuel doing it. The 6.0 will still tow heavy with lower EGT at a higher power setting too. Just some facts..I love both however, and won't ever sell either one of these bad ass oil fired trucks...

My dads has half a million miles in it. Stud it, delete it, bulletproof it and it’ll last forever. All about how u treat em. We build fence out of this one and have for 10 years now
