      thanks

    • @kdksiren
      @kdksiren  Před 9 lety

      Tyler Copeland That will never happen as long as they use a FS system to operate the sirens. BTW, the mayor isn't the one who decides the purchases. This is done by specifications by the dept (dept. of emergency management in this case) and then sent out for bids. Low bid wins. State law. That's how its done in a nutshell. A little more complicated than that but you get the idea. The only reason there are still ASC sirens in the mix is that when they went with the FS operating system, there was a mix of sirens already in place and they basically just bought the radio's and necessary control parts and installed them on the existing sirens. However, all things will wear out and then time for new. In this case they will all be FS. Most likely 508's until FS comes out with something new. And I'm quite sure that will be many years from now.

    • @neosho53059
      @neosho53059 Před 9 lety

      I learn stuff new everyday Thanks.... If I ran the ems I'd get 508s when the older sirens completely take a dump and eclipse 8s for the outskirts of town.... But like you said that won't happen.... But yea thanks again for the info..... Send some of your rain to Wisconsin we need it 😣

    KDK Siren Long time no comments from you to me Terry Don Hardy it's 2012 since the Comment about the FS 2001's well back on july 10, 2017 me and my sister drove through the forest hill area and happened to notice that there's a FS 508 tornado siren on the Forest Hill Elementary School Campus when I notice the FS T1000 was no longer was on Grand Street I was shocked about it and did know that Walter Kelley was in Emergency Mgt. for 29 years 1982-2011 then there's was Kevin Starbuck who took over Walt's spot and Kevin Starbuck is City Manager now I wonder who took over Emergency Mgt. in Amarillo Texas whoever is doing Walt's and Kevin's Job better be good at it and KDK please be praying for my Housemate Logan Sweet he's in the CMC in Lubbock Texas from the Flu and Other Health Problems I would like that.

      @kdksiren  Před 6 lety

      Terry Hardy, I don't comment much here anymore. School and life have taken priority. I haven't had much time for anything other than that. There have been many changes in the siren placement and additions to the Amarillo siren world. 508's going up everywhere. And I read that 4 more will be installed this year. Just approved. Walt Kelly was there along time. Great guy. And Kevin Starbuck did promote to Assist. City Manager. He too was great at his job and hope he does well with his promotion. Chip Orten is now the EMS director. Haven't met him. But the sirens still go off the last friday of the month at 11:30 just like always. I think he will do a great job! So sorry to hear of your housemate. The flu is running rampant this year for sure. Hope he recovers soon and that all goes great for him as well as you. Take care and just remember that even though I don't respond much I still do look at the comments when I get time. Maybe sometime I'll be able to get back to recording and chasing sirens and tornado's. Thanks so much! KDK.
