Thanks very much for this timely article. I have a 1976 280Z and I was swapping in the same style LED bulbs into my gauges. The three center gauges worked, but none of the LED Bulbs worked in the Tach. Probably because I tested them with the Tach partially pulled out of Dash. I will add a ground jumper wire and see if they work, before bolting back in. I do have a Dash Cap so that complicates matters. PITA getting Tach and Speedo out with my dash Cap.
Do yourself a favor and get some JIS phillips bits. I probably stripped a dozen of the phillips heads on my 260 Z before finally getting a proper JIS bit.

Sounds like you know what to do now! If your dash cap is glued on the yeah, it complicates things. I didn’t glue mine on…
very surprising that the stocker dimmer and the new LED's will play nice together, usually doesn't happen.

It does !! And I forgot to mention that so my apologies.
