  • In this video we take the Axial SCX24 Bronco build to the next level. I throw caution to the wind and cut the hard body to make room for bigger tires, greater steering angles, and more articulation. I add a set of beautiful RCAWD wheels and BIG Treal steering knuckles. The combination of upgrades and adjustments made for MASSIVE performance gains. This is not the same Bronco that you've seen before!

    If you drill the remaining spare tire shaft running through the body, you can run a screw from the inside out and remount your spare tire whenever you wish. Your videos and rigs are great... Thanx for doin what you do.

      This is so true. I have contemplated making a video on the ROI of our modifications. Sometimes I feel like it's wasted time and money. But every once in a while you hit a home run like we did in this video. So we keep chasing those upgrades!

    Thanks for sharing this build, Adam! Have already started upgrading my Bronco and slowly doing things to it as time/$$ allow. Was thinking about those Treal products and now am convinced I need to upgrade my upgrades. LOL!! The Injora stuff is nice and reasonably priced, but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for."

      Thanks Jon! I have been buying more and more Treal products lately because the quality is apparent. I love Injora products as well, but Treal has really stepped up their game lately and are offering some killer products. These knuckles are gorgeous!

    Great build. Love your channel.
    Weight is a beautiful thing on these trucks.
    I like to wrap lead straps around my bead locks on the inside of the tire.
    Metal bumpers help a lot too, especially in the front.

    Axles? Also, I shaved my Bronce and know a quick and easy way to perfection if interested. Either way, sweet build, starting to get excited about my build. It's like the saying goes, measure twice, cut once! Seriously close to $650ish and still learning, research first, buy once. That said, been the best time getting back into R/C, love all the toys.

      @@CapeCrawlers I used a Bostich shoe machine, although any drum sander would work good, was able to keep 2mm or so of the fender, looks pretty sweet.

    This should have been Part 4.. those tires made all the difference, IMO. You didn’t hear the axles scraping, the tires were like glue. All good fun, cheers!

      It did pretty well with smaller tires and long travel shocks, but to get the most out of the shocks and to run big tires, I had to cut it. I agree about the spare (or lack of)!

    Great video as always. I recently cut my jeep fenders off. I went back n forth on it for sure! I picked up a wireless Dremel tool, and man it rocks for cleaning up those cuts!

    Why didn’t you use a drimmel to cut the body? I like using mine on all of the Scx body styles. I turn the power up for hard bodies and go as slow as possible. You did a good job on it though. I trimmed my bronco body to make it look like yours but I have a grey body. I am using LGRP gripper tires too. I like how you built this truck

    Great vid Adam. I really enjoyed watching your bronco build series, so much so I watch them all back to back. Do you have any plans to install portals to your Bronco? Keep the vids coming.

      I'm glad you enjoy them! I have axle plans, but not specifically portals. The wheelbase and the big tires seem to glide over obstacles pretty well and I don't feel the need for portals on this one.

    You might can try the old rubber band trick and limit the front again just to change the l c g. All that weight will stress the weaker parts but it looks pretty stout! 👍Good Job bro!

    This is very exciting for me cuz I done the same thing but I used a Dremel and I used a little cut off wheel but I'm telling you at the same time and cuts it and also melt lasting Phoenix pain so bad so I have some cleanup work to do too but we all know rock climbers are going to be beat up a little bit so I think I'm going to leave like that

    I think it’s a great series on this build so far and a solid build overall. You’ve taken a not overly capable stock bronco and turned it into a trail ready go getter. 👍👍clean er up and take your wife to dinner bronco

      @@dski3620 I like the 900MAH batteries for good run time but they're fat little things. I've been favoring the 450MAH EcoPower Trail batteries lately because they're slim and fit nicely in all of my rigs. I get ~30-40 minutes on either of those options.

    Yeah big difference, hey there’s a guy on CZcams and he makes and sells front bumper relocation brackets they Bolt right up to the frame rails and straight out instead of drop down then out. I bought two sets got them on my Broncos

    Hey Adam, this is my second time through the bronco build series if that says anything about the great quality of your videos and all the info you share! I do have a question as I slowly upgrade my bronco. I recently added extended axle shafts/stub shafts to mine but I notice that almost any kind of steering angle while trying to move forward I get what seems like binding to the point it almost doesnt wanna move. Have you experienced anything like this and did you find a remedy for it? Any help is appreciated, thanks again for the primo series!

      I appreciate you watching a second time! I have experienced this, in fact I am experiencing it right now with my new AX24. I am going to try different combinations of axles to see if I can remedy it. Of all of my rigs I have only run into this once, so I'm troubleshooting as I go. But I am fairly certain it will be a new set of front axles to cure the issue.

    If I’m not mistaken that is a Ford color, you should be able to get some touch up paint at the parts store. Get 2 pair of lexan scissors, straight pair & curved pair.

    Have you thought about using some of the tools made for Gunpla. It might be a lot easier than the large tools. Like cutters nipples sanding sticks

    Just watched a video short with gladiator on 3s, where did you find the door hinges and hood vents. I've installed handles, mirrors, snorkel, roof rack, light bar, sliders, and headlights in the grill

    Overall build question. Did you upgrade the Axles? Or did you just keep adding to the stock axles that came with bronco

      Still running stock housings. The shafts are upgraded RCAWD units.

    I have that same bumper as well as the stinger style. I hate how it fits but 2 things I’m gonna try is flipping my metal bumper mount so it raises the bumper as well as gonna try gwrc’s flush bumper mounts that he makes. Should make a huge difference on look for realism!

      My next mod is going to be flipping the stock mounts. I have the flush mounts, but even those still leave a gap. I think the flipped mounts will be perfect.

      @@CapeCrawlers you can get a metal bumper mount that will make the bumper very solid to the frame. I seemed to like it much better then having a metal front bumper that had movement

      Not now that I've removed the spare tire and trimmed the bumper. It's got good clearance in the back.

    Hello, I did the same build as yours, but once I install my shocks the same place you install them it seems that the servo is binding with my chassis, it’s going too low that it doesn’t let the servo do its full motion/turn, sometimes it gets stuck, I’m not running bumper! Same bronco same color haha, do you think I should upgrade my chassis for the injora lcg? Or what should I do!!

      I had to trim the servo ears to avoid collision with the frame rails. Can also try slightly filing down the inside of the chassis rails to make more room

      The steering knuckles I got directly from Treal. It took about 10 days, not bad.

      So I tried it, and filmed it, without the knuckles because they came in late. I had the video already edited and the knuckles showed up by surprise! I can tell you that the knuckles improved performance by ~50% I would say. Without them, it was still hit or miss whether or not I could get up Hell's Gate. Afterwards it was downright easy.

      Does it happen on flat ground? If so, it sounds like your wheel nuts may be too tight in the back, or that something is binding

      @@CapeCrawlers yeah it happens on flat ground that back wheel nuts seem to be fine but if I tighten the front they don’t want to spin and if I don’t the wheels fall off I put a washer and still didn’t work

      As far as I know they are. They've always been hit or miss in terms of availability. That's why LGRP was formed, they built their entire business around the inconsistent availability of the scrambler tires!

    I wish I knew why my batteries were always dead. I don’t leave them plugged in but for some reason they never hold a charge and their brand new🤦‍♂️

They both are ok v2 electronics Just not ready to pay 1/3 of total cost of build into brushless yet. One day at least one of the rigs will most likely get a slow motion pancake from nick.
