I'm Catholic and I'm Southern and I think this is BEAUTIFUL! I know that legally banning gay marriage is unconstitutional and not only that but I truly believe we are all equal in God's eyes! Who cares abut gender! I love this :) Anyone that's against this obviously needs to acquire more gay friends and see how beautiful the individuals in that community really are - they're the same as us FYI!

Judith Chng i've gone to catholic school all my life, never missed a single sunday of mass, i pray 3 times a day, and i believe most of what the priests say. you are free to interpret the bible the way you believe God to be in your heart. that's having more of a connection to God himself than the Vatican. and i don't think neither of you knows just how much the church has reformed since it was first formed. there are a lot of things in the bible that neither of you follow anymore. you ever wear clothing made off different blends of fabric? you ever eat shrimp? you talk in church as a woman? technically a woman shouldn't even be lecturing because Paul said it was disgraceful for women to speak in church. and do you cuss every now and then? or do you stone your children in the street when they disobey you? how come it is you feel you can bend rules and change interpretations of the bible when the vatican decides to and you can't do it for yourself on things that are actually important like accepting homosexuals and loving them like the Jesus in the New Testament would?
And it being unconstitutional is ethically enough to allow homosexuals to marry because one religion does not apply to all citizens despite what we would like.

I was so trilled that the legality of their marriage was saved after the prop on banning gay marriage was passed again a few months after they got married.
They made a great decision on seizing the opportunity as soon as the ban was lifted. :)

To all religious people who think this is wrong You need to get a reality check cause they are happy and living their lives the way they want to to. you it may call it sin but to them it's right. Let them love each other is that really wrong. It's like you loving someone and then being told you can't be with them for a stupid reason such as being gay. I haven't read the bible or anything but I do know that god is supposed to love us all no matter our colour or beliefs and if you think this is wrong you are not capable of love. They've been happily married for 15 years now.
I remember watching this and just feeling so happy for Ellen. She is one of the most Generous people on this entire planet, a total sweetheart and so deserving of happiness. If God didn't believe in gay marriage, or Gays in general, then why did He send us this beautiful, lesbian angel of kindness? I love her and Portia and hope they're still as happy as ever.

I was happy for Ellen, even though I am not a full supporter of gay marriage. My aunt is gay and I have two best friends that are gay and wouldn't change that for the world. I don't write hateful things unless it affects me, but this doesn't. Be courteous!

This was a moment in history and will forever be burned in my brain. I was only 12 at the time and remember getting so emotional. Took many years to realize I was bi but I am so thankful for ppl like Ellen who paved the way to acceptance so that I can love myself for who I am. We still have a ways to go but some ppl will never realize how far we've come. I can't believe how much this memory still effects my heart at 28. 🥲❤❤
