Even in a long-lasting relationship, you don't wanna emotionally depend on your partner like you explained. You need more than them as a healthy outlet, because it can get extremely hard for everyone if you have a big argument or if something happens to them. It leaves you without an outlet and, in the moment, can make you feel alienated with your issues. I've had friends who were in that situation, and it became too much to them to deal with. I'm not gonna go into details, but I will encourage people to find more than one person to "vent" to, even go see a therapist if needed, because it can help immensely in the long run.
100%. My partner and I realised during Covid that we became very dependent on each other for everything, and have taken steps to changing this. Our relationship has never been better since addressing this. We're coming up on 8 years together.

I think as far as honesty goes, it depends upon how deep you are into the relationship or friendship. You want to be as honest as possible but you don't want to dump everything on them at the beginning. And as the relationship grows you can reveal more and more. It's true you don't want to keep secrets forever, but I feel like there are some things you should keep to yourself until you're sure of how strong the bond is.
I discovered you a couple days ago and I've been a compulsive VS player as well, trying to break the game in all possible ways, and I just wanted to tell you how much I love your content, especially the life advice/discussion, I find them really interesting and they made me think about the topics you've discussed a lot.

I don't see why would you pick Boogaloo in this case. The beams got to max area really fast either way and once they hit the pierce limit there is no point in more area. Getting more beams is a pure dps increase

I always come for the Vampire Survivors, but whenever we get to the 'controversial' stuff I never shy away, I am a 17-year-old and am unsure on certain topics and the way that you word things and make them concise and understandable really helps, especially when I don't feel fully confident with talking to others in a general context.
Anyways, great video, I love what you do, thankyou for everything.

Talking honestly about sensitive topics without appearing to be someone else is very important between friends and close people. I had good friends in the past but now I don't feel the same way about them. I stopped talking about some things with those friends and they felt more and more distant.
Friendship is not eternal and at some point it can end but, unlike a romantic relationship, friendship can be maintained almost throughout your life if you do not neglect those beautiful conversations.
My motto: quality over quantity.
Re Honesty/Openness:
I have experience with the opposite approach "not truthfully sharing who you are out of fear for being judged" and this has soooo many downsides. Sure it might seem attractive to not be repulsive to half of the people on first sight but it is hell of a loz of energy being wasted on projecting a persona you are not really inside. Being able to share who you are is sooo freeing on the other hand and possibly an absolute necessity for wellbeing and sanity.
I love your gequassel and hope other viewers appreciate it as much so that you feel compelled to keep it up.

I appreciate honesty, but I have no problem lying if I don't want to answer something and feel pressured to give an answer, since being honest and not answering would create unwanted assumptions and whatnot. Of course this is in regards to people that I don't feel I can be entirely honest with. But... when it comes to people that I do feel I can be honest with, they never tend to ask me and contact eventually fades, so... ultimately it doesn't really matter. I'm pretty honest about things with family I guess and I would be honest with someone I consider close.

Do you think the game would be better if it allowed you to set up caps for your states? Character speed is very hard to deal with when it gets too high, for example.
Hmm I'd say its not big enough of an issue that it's worth sacrificing other development for it, but yes I'd like a cap on movement speed. Golden Egg movement speed can be removed, but some chars skyrocket since they gain it per lvl up
perhaps they should also do what Holocure did and add attack transparency.

I feel I have to comment on your discussion regarding the utility of diversity (31:00)
No, it is not "always" good to have a "very strong diversity" in "society".
A military force, for instance, cannot tollerate a diversity of loyalty, if some of the men are fighting for Germany, and others are fighting for Syria and others yet for Russia, then you have a rioting mob, not an army (unless German, Syrian, and Russian interests all happen to allign, and even then this only works for as long as interests remain alligned).
You need Unity for any collaborative endeavour (be it a project team, a household, or a nation) to work.
Imagine a movie shoot where the costume department wants to make a horror film, the sound team are making a musical, the actors are making a comedy, and the cinematographer is making an action film, all while the director was imagining the project to be a drama. It would be an absolute mess, and this is exactly due to diversity... diversity of vision in this case.
A team of amateurs who've never been involved in making a movie at all, but who all share a vision can probably produce a better (or at least more coherent) movie using their phone cameras than the discordant mess I described above (especially if they happen to be making found footage horror)
Diversity can only work if encapsulated within a wider Unity.

I think "Really getting to know" people is overrated. People are individuals, not perfect matches. Everyone has things they are not proud of and will never be okay with sharing. Everyone has done something they are ashamed of, no matter how big or small. Shame exists for a reason. Without shame, we wouldn't be alive. Obviously some people are too introverted when maybe they shouldn't be and that's sad, but most people have a good reason for keeping things to themselves.
One problem I see here in the states is that openness or being open minded is leaning towards being apathetic. Unless you are a NPC, you are going to have some set of code or values that are mutually exclusive with other ideas that opponents will have. You will of course want to have those conversations civilly, and often being civil with someone you disagree with is going to be the most challenging part in our generation. Still "acceptance" can be another way of not engaging in a clash of ideas. And if neither side challenges the other then iron never sharpens iron.
But as for judging, I don't think anyone will escape that. I will admit 100% I will judge anyone I first see that dyes their hair pink or some other unnatural color. I see it as a sign of low emotional intelligence. Now, my internal prejudice may be entirely unfounded and by no means would I write someone off from being my friend for having pink hair. But yeah, I am totally judging and I would never encourage someone do to it. That is not something I am "accepting" on, but I still would "care" for them by engaging in that dialogue. Because it is easy to "accept" someone and just walk away and not have the conversation. It is difficult to clash ideas and it takes both time and effort. But if you are my friend, I would want him/her to be comfortable challenging me on my ideas and vice versa.
I think true acceptance takes making the effort to understand the other person's perspective that gave rise to the difference in opinion. It is only apathy if you don't care to understand the other person.
That ideal is good on paper but hard to achieve. Ideals are like that. They are the standard you aim for hoping you get close. Reasonable people will admit it is impossible to meet ideals. So really all you can do is your best.
