Your observation about isolation is totally correct. From what I can tell it is the combination of hard economic times and work balance, as well as a decrease in meeting locations that are free and open to all. As a result, society has shifted more towards isolationism. This will be one of the greatest challenges we need to face as a society.
And to top it all off, at the same time we're staring down the barrel of AI now - it's come so far in the past few years that we'll likely see general AI soon, and culture and society will have a huge shift because of it.
You're not going deep enough with it. This is mostly thanks to governments, big corp/tech and whomever are running the strings. It's not good for society, has been decades in the making and there have already been many who foresaw it was heading into this direction (including me). The extreme amount of censorship has lead to the grey area of discussion being pretty being closed off. There's one dominant side that isn't allowing any proper discussion and they have the authorities and big corporations picking their side because it's more convenient for them. And of course anyone who does think logically and rationally about things isn't going to stand for it. Since proper discussion is literally impossible they have no choice but to take an extreme anti-stance or be waltzed all over.
You can make certain choices on an individual level, but on a societal level this is being facilitated by those in power with a clear purpose. Anything even remotely political being reported on the mainstream media is pretty much an outright lie about 99% of the time. Even science can't be trusted when they report on it since they don't report on it properly and the research they bring up to support their crappy agendas is almost always poorly done research that wouldn't even get published when people actually did their jobs instead of just approving it. It's so bad that if anything sounds even remotely shady or unlikely, the exact opposite is actually true most of the time.
Anyhow, society is facing bigger issues that isolationism. That's merely a symptom of what's coming. An infinite growth economy simply isn't viable. The bubble that is western society is going to burst and all the big corporations and governments know about it. They can't prevent it from bursting, but they can facilitate it in such a way that they can reap the benefits. Meaning they can shape society after that as they please. The isolationism is merely one of the things they're facilitating to make that bubble burst faster.

I know you said the topic was over, however I wanted to thank you for your perspective on the american political system! I know that isn't a universal opinion of my countrymen but knowing that our way isn't the only way is a pretty good way to expand understanding.
I agree with you that both parties are shit, and both parties are wrong; but I want to add that there is some nuance that should be addressed.
While one side is in fact shit, the other side (also shit) is willing to use violence to overturn the will of the voter. As we sort this huge mess out the american people are reminded that the insurrectionist side stacked out highest court through sus moves of the legislature, that particular party hasn't won the popular vote in 2/3 of their last presidencies and that party also uses gerrymandering to disenfranchise those demographics that historically vote against them.
My Grandfather was born in Berlin in 1942; and his father, mother and 3 siblings came to the US in 1955 so I have heard stories from folks who have lived through similar times in the past.
I would love to hear more opinions from outside the US on these things! Also growing up in a first generation German immigrant household I heard plenty of your filthy language so I know what you are saying then the witches hurt you!

The idea of people becoming more selfish is true because we are all moving towards a more and more individual society. It comes in part from the slow effects of capitalism in the way of changing mindsets and the worry from the future after having moved from the modern era to the postmodern.
I've seen it once described as "the Faustian spirit of fuck everyone else", lol.
During the end of your videos, it would be really cool to see a montage of all the times a run ended forcing you to try again. Kind of like in the Gatta Amari video, but instead just a quick "come on come on come on -ACH, NEIN!" of your character dying for EVERY run end. It would be really fun, and would also serve to really hammer home how difficult or luck-based certain runs are.
Hi Dex! I might have missed you talking about it, but did you notice that they attempted to fix red gem behavior again in v1.9.101? It seems to be closer to old engine now, but I don't do extreme limit breaks like you. Good to see you back
edit: 15:51 you can move very slowly continuously with tiny adjustments of the on-screen joystick (or controller) to trigger movement effects like Tragic Princess 😈

The only issue I can think of is that the paranormal scanner will give you duration, which is horrible for La Borra
@11:15 The Attractorb thing is just personal preference. All these weapons kill enemies far outside your pickup range even with the orb and in such quantity that they'll max out the gems quickly anyway.
I will say it helps tremendously with the lag later to have the orb's range pick up all the other random junk on the ground doing a big ol loop during the bonus Growth. I can safely say as someone who has done these things myself the lack of Attractorb is gaining you very little in levels, but that is how you prefer to play and that is fine too. :D
For anyone misunderstanding, I'm not criticizing or arguing or saying someone is "wrong". Do whatever works for you. I am simply pointing out this particular "optimization" is not changing the final outcome almost at all. I happen to like the consistency of finding a vacuum and reducing item lag.

I did something similar to this for my first reaper kill(new to game. Had all the stuff from the new dlc with evolved lifesign scanner. Took an hour because i was waiting on a single chest drop for evolved lancet. The stat bonuses from scanner with the weapons I had, on top of the stage weapons...screen became an endless blur of color that I could barely decipher. Pretty hilarious, thought I was gonna crash my switch it got so bad.

Amount on the paranormal scan makes the stat boosts bigger. I'm not sure how the math works out and all that, but ye, eventually it will go from .05 to .06, .07, etc.

One thing you have to know about American politics and legislation is that there was no such thing as a rich tax to begin with. It never even got a draft because no one was serious about making it a reality. All of our career politicians over 15 years in higher positions of office are worth over 10 million dollars, on a salary of between 200k-300k. They didn't save that amount of money, and it's known it was made largely through both insider trading, and speeches for events paid through lobbyists.
So if there ever was going to be a tax the rich bill, it'd affect those ppl the most, when they likely write in some special exceptions for themselves.
Your thoughts on why we tend to be so self interested with the example you gave is more closely related than you were able to touch up on. How they are related is that it comes down to how artificially adversarial our politics are by never accepting blame for failed policies, creating more bloated laws and initiatives to bandaid a problem they created, and furiously blaming something completely irrelevant, usually half of our population that has nothing to do with why the government bought shutting down the economy for a year because "Für Ihre Sicherheit."
So ppl are scared of losing what little they have, and that comes out as being self centered.

Problem is, the US is about as far from free market as you can get.
All of the nordic states (those ones up there that look like weird dicks) are all far more economically free, even though they have universal medical.

Where i have a house mostly paid off a couple of cars and a few musical instruments that are worth insuring, I have a net worth of a few hundred k. I don't wanna say musk cause hes over used. But something like 70% of the richest people in america are small business owners who put money away and invested.
If you asked john doe right now for 50 million, theres no way he has that. But his net worth may even be 500 million. the dude probably only has a few hundred thousand liquid at any time. Yes, thats a lot of money. But more money comes from somewhere. By lending it to others so they can build wealth. otherwise known as investing.

Going into details which party does what won't change a thing, and your view is ecaxtly what he talked about earlier. Black and white. For example, most of the people which are ok with that can't really be blamed. It's the cumulative effect of influences from their childhood, parents, friends, their social network, which tv network they watch, etc. We are the sum of our experiences, and blaming them for the life they had to live isn't going to help. Don't get me wrong, it's a big problem. But blaming the other side is just what the politicians want, you play into their hands by doing it because it drives people even farther into believing the bs they tell.
