Love mine!
Just got mine this morning and I love it! Thank you van!
Hey van can I get a hoodie?
Gonna get some merch after this one to show support. Nobody ever regrets the steps. Our job is try it fully and judge the results. No risk, big reward. Anything less is a scary gamble. It's made me unbelievably more spirited since 2002. Thanks for the great vids and work.
Waiting on mine to be shipped. Can’t wait.
Thanks, Van. Keep at it.
I'll be angry iif you don't reference this man in your videos in some way
Big fan of your useless information videos
fancy seeing you here
So glad you’re a fan
Shut up Austin
This is one of my favorite channels
Bro i love your music documentaries. Keep it up❤️❤️
You a wavy dude Volkgeist 😎😎
Yes 💪
It is the best.
You are one of mine.
Are there CZcams video awards? This video should win one.
@Alex Cho finally? Hes been sober for over 3,000 days. You realize that?
Not even worth my time with you stating something like you did but here i am.
Gross.
Real gross.
You wouldn’t understand unless you at least know one who at least tried.
@Alex Cho what’s so great about being a negative jealous man
Thank you Van!
Today marks 200 consecutive alcohol free days in my life. Stopped drinking because of this video.
Keep going Randy!
you got this mate!!
Math doesnt add up.
@@scoon2117 It does in fact add up.
Great! Whatever works. 200 days is a great start. By now you are beginning to remember some possibilities you had forgotten all about. I quit drinking after 30 years and went back to being an artist. I was miserable. Now I'm happy.
Ive been sober for nearly 9 years, I wept when I saw your post today, l felt joy and gratitude. I wake up every morning and look at my 13 month old son and am grateful for this life. Love your videos
🙌❤
🙏
God bless you
I'm sorry but this is a masterpiece. The music, the old footage, the story telling...to me this is perfect
Why are you sorry then?
@@pramath_bhat he's not sorry. He's grateful.
@@pramath_bhat lol

Made it 441 days after several years of drinking. Went on a 2 month binge and i'm back. Day 3. I needed this video. Thank you
I believe in you mate. You can do it.
It may not be easy for you, but it will be appreciated by you.
try to drink soda instead
1,539 days - Beautiful video
Clicking Van Neistat video is now a reflex action.
This spirited man has 4676 days of sobriety. Thanks for sharing. Well done.
More power to you.
Wisdom to know the difference, thanks Van
I’m an alcoholic. This was beautiful. I’m on day 83. I appreciate the hell out of you Van.
543 days. Never thought I would make it this far. Believe in yourself as I believe in you. If I can do it anyone can too.
@@garrettrogers14 im proud of you Garrett, i hope your sobriety still continues :)
Great job, I hope you’re still going strong
@@garrettrogers14 Good job Garrett!💪keep moving forward.
@@garrettrogers14 Happy New Year Garrett. Stay strong :)
I am currently 21 days sober.
This is the message that I needed today.
Great stuff, Van. Thank you for sharing your story.
Right on. You got this. One day at a time.
Good luck with your Journey! You got this.
Good on you sir.
You can do it, man.
Nice. Keep at it brother.
Casey was right. He is the best youtuber ever. I haven't missed a single video, by far my most favorite channel out there. This movie and the one called "Men Cry in Private" really made me tear up. Thanks man.
Same. Powerful stuff.
I'm not sure who inspired who, but they both certainly have a similar style. You know I Neistat when you see one.
@@mattbahe Certainly it was Tom Sachs, who inspired them both. Check him out and you will see.
Yeah. This is some next level filmmaking.
whose 'Casey'???
I gave up cigarettes in July 2020, alcohol and substances in December 2020. ~730 days sober.
I was not at any point of reliance or abuse as others in this comment section, but did feel a grip that each of them had on my life.
This video touched me in a way I never knew possible. Thank you.
I just turned twenty three today and I'm ten months sober. I can't believe how close I was to cutting my life so short and I am still coming to terms with what it's like to be sober when you're an age famously known for being the partying years. I've spent my teenage and early adult years associating my birthday with substance use so today was hard. This helped
I will break my addiction, I'm writing it here so that somebody knows. It's easy to fail when I'm the only one who knew of the goal in the first place. I'll see you all on the other side.
sounds like your on your way. it's well worth it. your worth it. be healthy, wealthy and wise.
The first and hardest step: you want it.
You CAN do this. Peace and strength.
Im with you. Funny how I only feel comfortable sharing an anonymous comment on youtube to complete strangers. I'm trying
@@danielheiss3299 your not alone, so many have gone through the same thing, not wanting anyone else to know, now, chase your sobriety like you have chased your addictions of the past.
Good luck
I have 588 days of sobriety. I, too, wouldn't be able to experience the joys in my life currently without it. I nearly lost everything including my kids, my family, my friends, my home, my life (narcan on 2 occasions), and I did lose my job of 11 years. I take my sobriety extremely serious and applaud anyone that finds strength to dig themselves out of the darkness of addiction and share their story.
More power to you, ma'am.
Good for you! Well done.
Congrats to you Van. This is something to be extremely proud of. Sobriety is the final cheat code to unlock all levels!
Get back to meetings, they have zoom A.A & N.A meetings online now. I need one to shut my head up actually, thanks for the reminder. This is my fave so far ( little o.d guy's blue face and chain around his neck!! ) xo
1 year, 9 months and 10 days clean and sober. I too miss the meetings. Thank you for doing this movie
The way these videos just grab a hold of you and teleport you somewhere else, only then to teleport you back into your chair. Where you are a little wiser, a little more spirited.
👏🏼
🤝
Well said. I think we all finish watching his videos a little wiser and a little more spirited. How many other people on this platform can enrich you that way.
That last sentence hits home SO hard. Its so easy to miss the love and beauty in everything little moment when you’re not sober. You realize how much you gain when you’re actually in the moment
Touche. That was really well put
Sobriety is undervalued, I am currently on day 2375. I appreciate every time someone talks about this, since it happens way to little. Also, stunning video storytelling as always, to me it's fascinating how footage that spans over years finally comes together into finished work for us to see, really inspiring.
I'm re-watching this video because I'm putting off writing for my work. I am debating whether I talk about alcohol and quitting again. You saying that you appreciate when someone talks about this was all I needed to read to reassure me of the importance of the topic.
I've never been obsessed with sobriety enough to count it for 2,375 days. IF you think about your previous addiction everyday and can't stop counting the days, then you are still an addict in my mind.
@@smeaglerG that's the point. You can't cure addiction. You don't ever beat it. You come to terms with it and you choose to no longer consume.
@@smeaglerG Some have different ways of processing it, and that's the point. No man (mankind, not men) is any better or any worse for being born with or without the properties of the brain that enable severe addiction. What makes a person strong knowing they have a predisposition to addiction, and learn to COPE with it, because you cannot defeat it, it's built into your brain.
I've never had an addiction, despite being surrounded by alcoholics all my life, I'm just lucky I suppose, but I'm always greatly inspired by addicts who turn their life around. I think it's humbling, knowing my own struggles with life, and then seeing others struggling just as bad and worse, but overcoming it, it gives me hope.
@@kaio37k Very well said
Thanks for your strength and for sharing your story.
Garry thankyou, I learn a tremendous from you. I am from India where these resources about tech and entrepreneurship aren't easily accessible. You with help of internet have have helped me a lot :)
Thanks, Van...I'm 1374 days currently...so far the best chapter yet.!
Keep it up SM(Spirited Man).
More power to you.
Beautiful man! Thank you for sharing 🙏❤️
This is a beautiful piece of work. Thank you.
I run into that “Decided To” & “Doesn’t want to do it” every day Van. Glad “Decided To” won out this time for you, because this is amazing. - Eric.
This has to be the most raw CZcams video I’ve seen
Thank you for sharing your story. This is incredibly well done!!
Thanks for sharing, Spirited Man. Keep after it!!!!
brilliant.

Congratulations, Van. My mom's been sober for 37 years. I am so proud of her.
Thank you for sharing, Van.
Amazing! I am weeping. You are such an incredibly gifted storyteller.
"I'm either the happiest I've ever been or I'm having a nervous breakdown right now..." I like that one
The ending hit me like a truck, seeing that the child was an outcome of sobriety for you warmed my heart and had tears welling up in my eyes. Thank you for making this video ♥️
I cried.
I don't think i've cried from a youtube video before.
Thank you for sharing your story. This was amazing!
Absolutely beautiful video Van. Thank you for sharing.
This is pure storytelling extract, no plugs, no ulterior motives, no agenda, only effin golden stories. Thanks, it is infinitely inspiring for people alike, we, who also wanna tell our own stories
this is the most pure and raw you've ever been on this channel, and that says a lot. I really appreciate this video
I discovered you on Surf Mastery Podcast, and I’m so happy for it. I’ve shared your channel with my friends, thanks for the amazing videos.
Oh Van, this really touched me. Thank you for this channel
This is a fascinating series and a very unique way of telling a story. I honestly don't know if I like it yet but I keep tuning in.
Same here.
It’s watchable.
I cant stop watching.
Probably means you like it
@@betterthanoriginal there is so much stuff on CZcams that is much more watchable. I genuinely do not understand why ppl think these videos are masterpieces. They are ok, entertaining enough to watch, but that’s it🤷🏻♂️
As a daily smoker, this is truly inspiring. I don't want to depend on smoking anymore.
I stopped smoking 9 months ago!!!!
U can do it
"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" . You can do it.
don't vape, don't dip, just have a really shitty week or 2, and don't smoke anymore.
Take it 1 day at a time my friend
thank you van for sharing , beautifully put together
Just what I needed to watch today. Thank you, thank you.
Addiction comes in many forms and is an everyday battle.
THANK YOU VAN!! I’m 23 years sober I was choked, been watching you from day one, thanks to Casey, but more thanks to you I’m now knocking the dust from my book long overdue.....
Thanks for pouring your heart out in this one. I’m 13 years sober, and this encouraged me greatly. 🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing your story. I loved this episode
I've been sober for 30 years now. Some days truly suck and some are beyond beautiful. Meetings keep you sober but the steps help you grow. The people we've hurt need to know that WE KNOW that we hurt them. I loved this! Stay sober forever! No matter how much things suck sometimes I don't ever want to drink again!
I hope you have confronted the emotional trauma that drive you to addiction In The first place. If not than you will always be a slave to it. I would say I cared by I do t. That is your karma. Deal with it or suffer in the next life even more.
@@thisone. I had too. I wouldn't have stayed sober without doing this important work! I am fairly certain it was carried through a past life...
@@jcsrst Thank you for not being angered by my comment and how I worded it. It shows that you understood my words and indeed confronted and dealt with that trauma. I agree with you, some of my trauma was also carried over from a previous life. I never succumbed to drug/alcohol addiction but it affected my life in other ways. I applaud you for dealing with it so as not to pass it on. May your next life be rewarded for your efforts.
This video is so powerful, thank you for sharing it with us!!
Masterful editing, very very good.
Love this. Congrats on your days! I wish you an eternity of more.
Top notch visuals and storytelling!!❤️
The only downside to this video is that I could only like it once.
Thank you for this. Cheers from Vancouver 🇨🇦
Powerful video, Van. Appreciate your outlooks
Damn. This was incredible. I've been sober since March 4, 2010. When Van said "and then I lose my mind" I knew exactly what he was talking about. This video was really beautiful. One day at a time is all we have. That book saved my life too Van. Thanks for your beautiful work.
4 years as of november. I appreciate this. The format alone is beautiful, your story is so helping

This is such a raw and beautifully told story that I think everyone can relate to on some level. Really powerful.
This was really beautiful I haven’t been moved to tears like this in a while. Thank you
Found you thru your brother of course. Your work is superb and story lines are fascinating. You defiantly have a unique way of presenting your stories. This channel has become a favorite of mine to watch. Am lucky I found your brother a few years back, and am luckier that he introduced me to you.

Amazing video. Glad it showed up in my algorithm today.
Such a great video, as someone who is making those choices day by day I appreciate you putting this out in this way.
I had to give this a like when I saw the stop motion of the heroin incident. Too good!
So amazing thank you and congrats! My sister was just locked up for the millionth time because of drug use hopefully she can find a path similar to yours and recover. Addiction is a strong force in my whole family and I constantly battle against falling victim to any substance !
