    Very nice video. Finally someone showing the installation and a round view of how they look on the bike. Personally, I don't mind the looks of crash bars in general. But I do dread these particular ones since Ducatti decided to make the left and right side so different :(

      Many thanks, I think the bars suit the bike but I’m not sure how much protection they add, probably not a lot. I may find out with the winter rides this year.

      Well crap, I never even noticed that left and right side are different. Thanks for pointing it out. Also I hate that they don't provide all the plugs for the hollow bars where the bolts go.

    I just installed mine last week and was thinking on doing a video I totally forgot bc there wasn't any on how install this crash bar, it us pretty easy, the only complicated part was replacing the nuts where you hold the long screws to the engine when I removed the left side I forgot the screw out forwarding and I damaged the original aluminum and took hours to get it out. good thing that afterwards you don't need then anymore

    With torque specs, we'll done.
    I have been thinking about the aftermarket bars because they are larger and black. Just waiting to see if anyone has issues with them

    Great video - Well explained. As to the crash bars themselves, it would seem that they are more cosmetic than practical. The attachment points with those super long extensions to the engine itself (obviosly since there is no frame itself to attach to ) makes me think a tumble with them may cause more damage than protection to the engine itself. They look great tho, and complete the look of a proper ADV bike. Beast of a bike!

    • @thatbikersimon
      @thatbikersimon  Před 2 lety

      Thanks Henry, yes I totally agree, I’m guessing a slow off-road drop will probably add some protection but at speed i don’t think they will do much good.

    I'm conflicted: obviously, the protection is valuable but I'm just not keen on how it looks. I'll probably end up getting them even though I don't see myself taking that bike offroad.

      I do fancy doing some trail riding nothing to crazy,so only time will tell if I drop the bike how much damage will be done. I’ve got a feeling it’s going to cost even with these bars on.

      As I remember that screw was really tight so get a extension bar with a 6mm Allen socket and put some pressure on it. It will come loose so don’t be afraid to give it some force

    I've got the very same crash bars fit. Unfortunately I put them to the test on an extremely slimy mini roundabout. They didn't stop my fairing, wing mirror and the top tank cover coming into contact with the road! Allow speed drop and now a bill for £1300. May have been better with an aftermarket 'Higher Up' design really.

    • @thatbikersimon
      @thatbikersimon  Před 2 lety +1

      That’s bad news Mick.. I feel your pain. I nearly came off at the weekend on the greasy roads, but I know what you mean they only offer limited protection and it’s never a cheap fix with these Ducati’s.

    Looks mank, like having stabilisers on a kids bike, just incase you drop it!

    Ducati spent lots of time developing weight saving parts to make bike lighter, then you go stick on 10KG.
