  • Here, I am restoring a friend's Darth Vader helmet. Over the years, it had sustained a number of cracks, scratches, and dings from hunting Jedi. During this video, I demonstrate the paints and techniques that I use to apply a base coat and clear coat using urethane based automotive paints. I greatly apologize for the noisy compressor that kept turning on during the video. Other than that, enjoy and let me know what you think or if you have questions!

      Thank you!
That's great! I've been thinking about restoring a Rubies Supreme as well. I think that they look great for the price point.
      Keep building brother 👍

I have Rustoleum Semi Gloss in a can. No airbrush. How would you recommend going about painting my helmet? If you look on my channel you can see that it is a bit textured

Hey there...Sorry for the delayed response. I didn't receive a notification for some reason. So without compressed air, you can use Rustoleum black (it can be flat, semi-gloss, or gloss). Then you can apply the clear coat over that with Spraymax 2K clear coat. That is a 2K clear coat that comes in a spray can and has a shelf life of about 24-48 hours once you open it. You would apply it the exact same way that I applied it with the spray gun. The results are really great with that stuff. If you would like to get rid of the texture, you would have to do that before you begin painting. Or you can just hit it with the Spraymax over your paint job if you'd like to keep the texture. Let me know if you have any other questions...
