Thanks brother! Appreciate it. For a helmet, you can use an airbrush and it's accompanying compressor. I personally use a 20 gallon compressor and a full size paint gun. It's easier to paint complete armor parts and cover larger surface areas. Basically, the size of the compressor would depend on the size of your project.

I can't argue with you there. They could've done a better job on this one like some of their other helmets. I just picked up the EFX helmet, and that one has lineage to the 1977 helmet. Reasonably priced as well.

It's definitely far from perfect, but I think that it still makes a pretty cool display piece for your average collector. I don't think that the issue is rights since they needed to get permission to create a commercially available product. I think that it's more about budgeting. They wanted to create a mass produced 3 tier electronic helmet. The original Vader buckets were huge, so they probably opted to scale them down. With a smaller wearable helmet, they would have to make it wider in the face to compensate for the shorter top. However you're right, they could've researched a bit more, and made a much more accurate helmet. I just picked up the newly released Vader helmet by EFX. A great helmet for the price point, and it has direct lineage to the ANH helmet.

Thank you! There are several ways to achieve a gloss base coat prior to laying down the Alclad. I've never used a 1K clearcoat, however the goal is to have the black as glossy as possible prior to the chrome. There are some 2K clearcoats in a rattle can now that go on beautifully. I have also been getting great results lately just using Rustoleum black gloss as a base coat. Now, Alclad does not react very well to clear coats on top of it. It will dull the chrome and turn it gray. The only two things that I have seen that it will take is Aqua Gloss clear by Alclad and a polyurethane coat by Minwax in high gloss. Try those on test pieces first to see the results. Alclad is a very strong and resilient chrome coat that does not really require a clear coat, but if I do use a clear, I usually go with the polyurethane Minwax stuff. If you have been having a good experience with just gloss rustoleum as the base layer for alclad, I’ll try that instead of messing with the clears. Which rustoleum are you using exactly? I wanted to do the 2k but the toxicity warnings scared me off.

Thank you! Absolutely, filling would be possible. In my experience, anything is possible in putting together or modifying a prop. Now, depending on what you would like the end result to be, you may not get away with just filling in the seams alone. Typically, fillers are going to be a different color altogether than your prop; particularly in this case. Weathering should look very naturally occurring and cohesive. Saying that, even if you weather your helmet, it may not be possible to cover a seam cohesively that goes all the way around the helmet. It may just stick out that you actually covered a seam. The helmet looks absolutely fantastic out of the box. However, if you really want to fill the seams, you may have to do a re-paint on the full helmet to completely cover the seam lines, and then add the weathering. You know, I would have to agree with you there. Although not "screen accurate", it is the best looking and put together of all. I have seen and held A LOT of helmets, and trust me when I tell you, that you will love your Scout Trooper helmet! Thank for your comment brother!

Yes, the Mando helmet is a bit narrow, and at 24 inches, it may not fit you. I approximated it at about 23 inches max. The Boba series helmets are the widest ones so far. You should be able to get those on.

Yes, two separate Vader helmets were released. To my understanding, Hasbro lengthened the neck a bit on the Obi Wan version. They also gave it a more accurate two-tone paint job with black and gun metal. Other than that, they appear to be the same. I may eventually pick one up in the future since it is slightly more accurate than the original Vader helmet that was released.

Yes, I agree, the one on the left is definitely taller and more slender. I'm thinking that is where your tree reference came from. What do you mean by black issue? Or was that an auto correct typo or something?

Hello, and apologies for the delayed response. I wanted to measure the helmet to give you an accurate response. So the helmet opening at the bottom measures 7 3/4" across from ear to ear and 10" across from front to back. I've taken the interior molded plastic into account with those measurements. The helmet narrows of course towards the top. All in all, I would say that it will not fit a 25" head. Even when I removed the interior hard hat helmet system, I only had about an extra half inch give and take. I have a 22" head for reference. So I would say it would fit up to a 23" or 23 1/2" head max. The Mando helmet is similar in size or slightly smaller. The Boba Fett style helmets of this line tend to be the largest. Hope this helps.

That particular stand is simply a styrofoam head with a black balaclava over it. Over the years I've learned to come up with cheap alternatives for helmet stands depending on the helmet's design. I've also used cheap mannequin heads, PVC glued to a lazy susan, and paper towel holders...

Thank you for the compliments; I appreciate it! I saw that Hasbro is going to release another Vader helmet early next year apparently based on the Obi Wan series. They say that it will have a new sculpt, however looking at the stock photos, I don't really see that much of a difference. I will more than likely pick one up though haha. If there are significant differences, then I will likely make a video on it. At the beginning of the video, I use a compact voice amplifier. They are designed for public speaking. It's up to you to modify your voice. With enough practice, you can sound like a Stormtrooper, Boba Fett, Vader, etc. Here's a link.
