In this tutorial, let us learn about Retained Logic Versus Progress Override and Actual Dates in Primavera P6.
In Oracle Primavera P6 Schedule Options, the dialog box enables users to select between Retained Logic, Progress Override, and Actual Dates to schedule activities.
Retained Logic and Progress Override are two separate methods of calculating out-of-sequence activities in a critical path method schedule.
So, in the Planning Stage (Without no any actual starts or finishes for activities): there is no difference between the three options.
But in the Controlling Stage (After adding actual starts and finishes and when there are out-of-sequence activities): Retained logic respects the relationships between activities that happen out of sequence while progress override does not.
