I think branching farther out from Bannerlord is a good move. I think there's a lot of room for you to do those deep dive guides and plays for other games, with your level of editing.
I agree especially if we ever find a game that's similar to bannerlord but also an improvement like mount and blade bannerlord 3. Lol
Interest in game died out without new content from devs. Maybe when big overhaul mods come out it will be worth making video or two
RimWorld is getting a pretty massive update and expansion soon if you want to check it out, your level of analysis and RimWorld's level of depth would go together quite nicely I think!
Rimworld is one of my favorites as well! I plan on doing some Rimworld videos at some point
Rimworld is a great idea, lots of niche mechanics and such to explore.
@@Strat-Guides I strongly agree with the Rimworld idea. I enjoy all your content but the element that I feel sets you apart from other creators is your guides: making sense of sometimes quite opaque mechanics (skill tree guides, best unit tests) and pulling obscure threads together to make a cohesive new way of playing (mercenaries with negative wages). CKIII has been an excellent branch and (if you're enjoying it) I'd love to see more or really any of the pdx 4x games. Rimworld is another good one. My caveat would be you have to enjoy it - not just for your sake, but it has a massive impact on the quality and depth of content. Good luck with new projects mate!
I'm happy you'll be more efficient with your time. Hopefully you get more family/me time moving forward. Thankfully, Bannerlord probably won't have to be addressed much nowadays, maybe with just update/changes and how they affect things, your thoughts, etc. Thanks for all the previous hard work and good luck in the future. Yeah that's actually a good point - one of the reasons I've made this change (I started doing this after the move, so most of this year) was to take the kids out more often. We go to the park 4+ times per week for at least 2 hours each time, which I would never have been able to do before with the previous schedule. If I'm able to get the same quality guides and other videos from the same recording, then it will work out perfectly :) Thanks for the reply!
@@Strat-Guideshey strat, on the off chance you do return to bannerlord sometime, can you do a tutorial on combos/chain attacks, stances, and how they work? Or do you have one somewhere? I've been trying to figure out the chain attack system and I've yet to find a guide or explanation on your level.
@@t-hatguy I remember doing a complete guide to combat for Bannerlord a while back and they didn't change anything regarding melee since then. I had a section on chain combos and chamber blocking as well :)

I think applying your analytical and research style to other games seems like a great idea. I love the guides and the unit breakdowns for bannerlord so I’m excited to see what you can do with other games.

Sounds like a real good plan! I’m just worried that you might burn yourself out but you know you the best, so I will be looking forward to the future!
The new plan is to help avoid some burnout actually, so hopefully it helps :) It's just tough doing those 100+ hour edits back to back, so if I can get 2 - 3 play throughs and a few guides for every 1 big video I do, I think it will be diluted enough to still enjoy it.
Really like the hyper analytical and disecting view you put on games mechanics. Hope your production plans & changes work out for you as imagined.
I highly support the plan to use the same video footage for several videos as for me at least the far bigger portion of entertainment comes from your comments, thoughts and analysis.
Since you focus more on sandbox games maybe you wanna round up your "100% review" of the game with a kind of tier list, which playstyle was the most fun and why, which playstyle would fit which type of gamer in terms of the amount of hours needed to put into to hit the time-fun sweet spot for example. It is a well known type of videos and maybe pleases the algorithm. And ye, the "What would I change" vid for bannerlord was a banger. Maybe more of those open doors for future cooperations.

It would be cool to see some Manor Lords or Frostpunk 2 videos when they come out. And you might really like to play Elden Ring you could do a no armor run to make it interesting.

Bannerlord needs substantial content added but hope you continue with it. Kenshi is something i think would suit you,also, The long Dark. extremely hard survival game,and beautiful to look at,needs alot of thought and good decision making

I really like your ideas for the direcrion of the channel. I originally found the channel through the Bannerlord guide videos, but find myself sticking around for the vibes, editing, and analytical approach to mastering games. Branching out is a smart decision in my opinion as this style of video, guides, and gameplay will translate well to a huge varitey of games.
A personal favortie of the channel of mine was the companion-only Spartacus series. Allowing the viewers to name characters, and follow along through thier journey was highly engaging. Not sure of the logistics of something like that going foward, but i did want to point it out as it's a series i think back to offen.

I was actually planning another one just like that soon, but following Robert the Bruce! My plan was to have mostly companions (that upgraded from bandits using distinguished service mod) and then use historical formations to win some tough battles like the Schiltron. I'll definitely make a post asking for people's names before I start it :)

I think it will be a great change and will give the channel some new life and wind. Don't get me wrong I really like how the channel is at the moment, but I'm happy to see it grow and evolve into something new and even more entertaining than it was before. Allso I'm absolutely happy that you keep to the things which are precious and important (no clickbait, more money through sponsors you know stuff like this) and I hope it works out for you and for the community (allso myself). with build 42 coming out first half of the year for project zomboid i think there will be a ton of content for guides and videos
i think doing guides for mods like Banner Kings or some of the major overhauls for PZ would also be cool and shine some light on the amazing mods that tend to bring a lot of complexity to the game and more depth

Some Starsector content would be cool to see, there is a lot of different space ship modules and weapons that could be analyzed to see which are more efficient at different aspects of the game. A lot of different in game systems aside from space combat, like exploration, salvaging, trading, colony management, and faction politics are also nice to look at. Going off your gameplay and analysis of Bannerlords, Project Zomboid, and other games, it would be informative to see how you pick apart and optimize Starsector

I think this is a good change, I really wish Bannerlord got the post launch support it deserved but I also understand that a dev studio can have other priorities. That said I ABSOLUTELY support and approve personally of playing lots of games and the style you wanna go for. I've never been a 'one gamer' but I have dumped hundreds of hours into games like Path of Exile, Bannerlord, Rimworld, Morrowind, Minecraft, Dark Souls, ect ect so people who put out informed guides and detailed analysis are always welcome in my PoV.
This may come off as corny but you are one of the smartest youtubers I have ever watched. Your disciple is impeccable and your eventual mastery of any game you dig in defeats all others frankly.

Feel like you would enjoy Foxhole if you want something a little different (multiplayer vs single player). The game doesn’t live stream well but lends itself to a lot of depth for CZcams.
Also hope you revisit X4 sometime since they’ve changed a lot and your prior history with X3
Branching out is a good move, but man your Bannerlord content is top notch and I hope you'll still drop the occasional unit guide as new patches come in. Zomboid is an amazing game tho, sprinters only when? :P
I'll finish up the 1,000,000 kill challenge first and if I'm not completely tired of the game, then sprinters will be next :)

First, let me start by saying that I love your content. Your guides are put together very well and are invaluable. That being said, blind playthroughs are some of my favorite gaming content. Unfortunately, most playthroughs are done by people who fail to notice 90% of what is happening in the game; who seem more interested in engaging their chatroom than immersing themselves in the game. They don't appreciate games in the same way as I do: appreciating the story; looking for the layers and making connections; having some intellectual reflections; or actually making an effort to roleplay. I have a feeling you would be good at this side.
Personally, I would love to see you do a blind Baldur's Gate 3 playthrough, although I have no idea if that genre is your cup of tea. Bannerlord and BG3 are games that I will be enjoying for many years to come. That being said, the content already on your channel will teach someone everything they need to learn about Bannerlord and more.
I agree that editing live streams into a let's play is both time-consuming and the end result is often compromised.
Thank you! I missed the boat on BG3 in terms of CZcams content, but I'll definitely need to pick it up and play it at some point. I'm a huge fan of BG and played lots of their titles when I was younger. Minks and Boo were my favorite!
It feels like the current content meta is doing difficult challenges in weird or interesting games and turning that grueling experience in some kind of shorter-form content that's somewhat instructional. You don't actually have to be great at the game, but just good enough to do whatever challenge you're going for. Feels like every game you've been doing content for is one that you're already really good at, so it would be cool to see some new ones and how you learn all the tips and tricks. I'd recommend Kenshi if you haven't already played it, since there are so many goofy or difficult challenges and things to do in that game.
I can respect chasing more efficiency to get time back into your life. Just try not to take it too far and end up limiting yourself because you're trying to make it both a challenge run and guide content to where you end up hurting the final product because of having to fit everything into that framework in the same run.
Yeah that's going to be the tough part, but I'm up for the challenge. If it doesn't work out, I can always tweak the process until it works.

I have 4000 hours in CK3, I like to think alot of them are from when I forgot to shut down my PC and went to bed but I'd kidding myself lol. That said, I'd say CK3 only has about 25% of the planned content. If you do a review it'll be obsolete after the next DLC. Just bear that in mind I guess.
Yeah that's the toughest part with Paradox games. So many DLCs that change the meta

I completely get the Bannerlord move. It just sort of stagnated with development over the last year or so which really sucks. Im sure its also probaly not as fun playing it for the millionth time either. About the sponsorships, I dont think anyone really cares anymore especially if it means their favorite creator can sustain themselves. Lol Im honestly suprised you havent done any already, get you your money man 😂.
Some game recommendations I would like to see and sort of fit your style would be Paradox games obviously, ( CK3, EU4, Stellaris) and some total war as well would be really awsome to watch. I also wouldnt mind seeing Helldivers 2 content either. Some deeper cut ones I think you might enjoy are Outward which is a super hardcore survival sort of in the same vein as KCD or Kingdom Two Crowns which is like a 2d base builder indie game but it is actually really cool. Im also looking forward to when you eventually try out Manor Lords and Kingmakers, they look so good and I really hope they turns out well, Kingmakers especially and maybe it will give Bannerlord the push it needs to fix its shit.
I'll definitely be doing more paradox this year! I've got a few CK3 challenges on my list to knock off and I would love to get back into EU4. I'm very close to 5k hours in that game so I'm pretty comfortable with it and would like to try some tough challenge runs like 3 mountains or some WC speedruns.
I mainly watch lets plays to pass time so it would be nice to see more Lets play content. Also it would be nice if you'd be playing couple games at the time for lets play channel, as for how it is now, I'm not realy into CK so there is nothing for me to watch, but if you were playing CK and bannerlord for example, I'd at least have something to watch.

The livestreams are done on the guide channel (this channel)! If you click on the homepage, look for the live tab and you'll see them there.
I don't have a schedule up just yet because I need to catch up on editing for several new videos (will probably take me all month to finish). The next livestream will be towards the end of this month and will be for Manor Lords when it releases! I'll make an announcement before I stream and if/when I can do regular streams I'll make a post to let you know :)
@@Strat-Guides Thank for your answer and all your efforts! It is just a suggestion of a fan but have you considered hiring an editor? It feels like a waste of talent of yours doing all the editing. Even if you just hand over the easy/slow/boring parts and still do the more creative work yourself would mean you can do couple of more videos per month. Increasing you output productivity greatly.

Do your thing, brother, waiting on Bannerlord to become the game that could've been is a fool's errand. I got to your content through bannerlord, but it's not what it's keeping me around.
Even if you could make and release 4 videos in a week. It would probably be way better to just release one or two of them and bank the others for times you don’t have any to release.
I’m not an expert on the algorithm but I imagine 4 videos one week and none for two weeks will be way worse for a channel than 1 video a week consistently.
You’re way too good of a channel/perspective to only cover one game. Love bannerlord - never even playing Kingdom Come Deliverance, but enjoyed many of those videos.
Personally, I’d love to see the very difficult challenge runs of whatever game you find fun.
New games reviews would be nice too as we have very similar taste in games.
Maybe add a game suggestion thread to discord so your community can help contribute. In excited to see this channel do well.
Literally had no idea you had three channels. You don't have a channels tab and only the guides and plays channels show up on the search.
I don't like to spam people with advertisement for the other channels so I just put links in each video now or link a video that's relevant in specific videos once in a while. There should be a channel tab on the main page, I'll have to see if I'm missing something. I appreciate the heads up!

I'm fine with doing a collab, but the problem is I'm not sure which game or what format. I think maybe a livestream would work best? Or one of those "share the save file, split the campaign" kinda deals would be fun too.

TW still hasn’t fixed the bug where when you leave the kingdom the former kingdom will keep your banner and color no matter what. I’m glad you are branching out, this game still has a lot of potential but it will never blow up as it should due to the base game being so bare bones!

I've actually got over 1000 hours into Tarkov :D I used to play it a lot when it first came out, but got tired of the cheaters and stopped. This was back in 2018 or 2019 I think? I've got the EOD from early alpha so I started playing Arena recently and had some fun with that (about 500 matched, unlocked everything under marksman)

You've probably been asked this 10000 times and this doesn't relate to this video, but will u ever do a bannerlord unit guide?
I did one recently for all of the top tier shielded infantry and I've done several in previous patches. They take a TON of time and unfortunately Bannerlord guides aren't really getting views right now, so it would be hard to justify the time (it takes about a week to week and a half of full-time work to do one of those properly). Maybe when another big patch comes out and people come back, I would definitely consider it!

I'm currently doing a battanian only, HC bannerlord difficulty game, looking for tips, I feel like my vet falxman suck but maybe I'm doing something wrong, they have tons of oathsworn backing them up but still feel weak.

I do not think a 2 or 3 hour long guide video is a good idea for you, as people will want to skip around the video. This makes CZcams think "hey, these people only want to see this part of this huge video. The rest must be trash." However, if you keep the guide videos short, most people will watch the full video, especially if you keep doing the "bonus" segment at the end.
I know what you mean, but I've been doing a bit of research on this and I think there's a bit of spectacle with really long videos. If you look at video essays, some are several hours long and people get curious and click. Sure, most click off after a few minutes, but the algorithm still pushes the video more with more clicks even if the watch time suffers. If you look at the Spartacus campaign I did last year, it's over 3 hours long and it's still getting good views to this day because the algorithm pushes it. Average watch time was something like 24 minutes, so less than 10% but it's still going strong.
I think Paradox games are made for you
I do think they have a nice mix of cryptic mechanics and insane challenge possibility that makes them good for guides and let's plays. Frankly there's also a void there now
I've still got a ton of challenges to do with CK3 and then I would love to get back to EU4. I can't let the 4,844.2 hours of experience go to waste lol!
