Thank you so much for this video. Is it possible to change all of the valve lifters in this way without taking off the timing chain, or is it only possible to change the ones farthest from the timing chain? Thank you so much hope you are well.
I did an experiment on an old engine sitting in my garage and I can remove 15 out of six teen buckets without removing the timing chain. I can't get the bucket number one out on the intake side. You need to remove the cam caps on both cams and loosen the chain tensioner then you can get 15 buckets out.
Incase anyone finds this comment, you reference the service manual on lifter size chart. When you take the lifter out inside of the lifter is a number from 30-50. You have to order the correct size for each valve you measured. Again reference the service manual it's only 20ish bucks.
Thanks for the video. My Corolla has a lot of Taping noise and I believed it is the valve need adjustment. Do I have to take out Tensioner? Can you tell me how to measure and put back the new "lifter" valve or shim? Thank you so much.
@@a1autoservice574 I have a 2009 Corolla Duel VVT-i engine with 200K miles and I have error code P0304 due to sticky valve because the engine has tapping noise for 2 weeks and now rough idle. I thinking follow what you did and just lift up the camshaft to check/replace the hydraulic lifter on cylinder 4, do you think this can be done. I really don't want to remove the top end and timing chain. I think the lifter valve on cylinder 4 is sticky which cause the rocker arm moving up and down causing the noise. Thank you so much.
Yes. I have a taping noise first and then later on rough idle when stopped and then misfire (sound like Muffler air leak) and finally the check engine turn on with P0304 (Cylinder 4 -misfire).
I used Lucas oil additives but no luck then I got the Liqui Moly Hydraulic lifter cleaner/Lube and as of now, I have 15-20 miles on it but taping sound still there. I think I need to change that bad lifter(s).
The cable ties to fix the chain to the cam gear is pure genius sir.
i love it
Much better video than the last guy. Excellent sir.
did you lossen the tensioner on the timing chain to have more room with the cams or is it that loose already?
please confirm, can i remove worn valve lifter without removing timing chain life you do?
im planning it on 3sz engine

When we replace the tappers the work of valve clearance is done is this true ?
You didn't show us how to select the next size of valve lifter.
How do you select the lifter?

If you’re looking to diy just use a trusted shop.
do i need to remove the tensioner first?
Can a bad lifer cause a misfire?
Hi I hope everything ok with you.not really.Reason of misfire you have three issue it could be a spark.Fuel air system leak. Thank you for comment
Timing.

Never showed how you measured and how you fixed, just some tools clattering and tightening caps.
Bro havent show how to check properly and adjust
Why do people call these lifters on an overhead cam engine? They are not lifters.
What are they then ? What is the correct name ?
Jgb .....
I wouldn't let you put gas in my lawnmower 😂
