I found the comment about the scrolls and the gibson inlay very informational and interesting too. I do no know why people voted it down. It is true. Anyone who takes a pocket knife to a gibson F-5 has a bit of Diva in them. Bill was one of the best! I want to leave work and play my mandolin right now!
Looked to me like it might have been Jim Ed Brown doing the introduction to Bill Monroe & The Blue Grass Boys. Then at the 1:00 mark - is that Chet Atkins ?? Is there anyone out there watching this that knows anything about Bluegrass or Country music , can substantiate ?? Aside from a bit of an out of timing start by the bass man , a great rendition of Monroe's Rawhide. Kenny Baker (RIP) sounds great here.
dadgum! That's some great country music right there! Heck,I love all country. Old and new.
That is Rual Yarbrough, he was Monroe's banjo player- 3/24/1969-12/1970
man... kenny on that fiddle!!!
Added to my favorites, great video.

Oh man I wish they would make a bluegrass video game
@@grassshadow1 I have to agree with this
@MrGoRaVeNs Bluegrass is a subdivision of country music.Either way,I love it.

...it appears to be Bill Yates on bass !

Kenney Baker on fiddle, Yarbourgh on banjo, James Monroe on guitar, father Bill; not sure who is walking the bass.
Bill Yates on bass
hot!!
Interesting. Note the snapped off piece of the head scroll and gouged out "gibson" pearl inlay at 1:11. Must have been before he got it replaced.
musical beast mode unlocked at 0:54
...extrambler Don,...Bill Yates on bass !
@sarge958 yeah it is pretty awesome
@Fazeeye Did he pass away recently? He was one great picker and I like him for the fact he has such a cool name, Rual.
Great video! Who's that on banjo?
despite his size he had a great voice
@Argetnar Only Bill Monroe would do something like that to an instrument they play daily haha :)
watch MUNroes face about 28 seconds he looks so proud.... 5 *****
why no bass solo???
@weadley Maybe someday we'll get to pick with him.
hehe, gouged out "gibson" and knocked the scrolls off just cuz they refinished his Loar... total diva, but earned it.
@sarge958 its not country its bluegrass
Greetings from germany, very good song, but sounds more (not exactly) like foggy mountain dew than Rawhide???
Bill plays so out of sync with the band they just chill in the beginning like ok, there's the beat. His solo too, instant +10 bpm
