    The"guy" is Byron Berline, one of our grand national fiddle champions. And the other fiddler is Mark O'conner, also one of our grand national champs! It doesnt get any better than this!!!

    Bill Monroe was a genius as much as a man who would push himself and best anyone at music. He went into it like a bloodsport

    I love the way Mr. Monroe lifts the mandolin in the B part. What a great tune, and thanks for posting.

    Outstanding performance of this tune. Even in his older years Bill could still make that old Loyd Loar sing. This band had one fine line up of musicians. Byron and Mark are fantastic on the twin fiddles on this number.

    I like how they introduce him as "being around bluegrass a long time." Ya think?!

  • @czecr01
    @czecr01 Před 9 lety +8

    Don't worry...he KNOWS who Bill Monroe is (or was, RIP). The introducer, Byron Berline, played with Bill in his Bluegrass Boys band and actually co-wrote this song with Bill. He was obviously using understatement in his introduction.

    @MeatIsbetter I started on guitar age 11, and still flatpick - learned from the Oleee Timers.. old plank floors, Franklin wood stoves and music all night long - great way to grow up. I was about 12 years, and one day someone brought in the biggest instrument I'd ever seen - and when it filled up the room with low notes I was Hooked! Been doing bluegrass, swing and gypsy ever since! And you... Banjer only?

    ...HillbillyJ, are you sure Bill's break was edited, or did he just go into the ditch at 1:42. Apparently Bill was uptight about who he was playing with,...-not his band! It would have been better,...sans a dobro !...Bill and dobros didn't mix, you know!
    !

    • @kishintuchis4133
      @kishintuchis4133 Před 6 lety +2

      the repeat at 1: 42 is an electronic glitch in the recording. had nothing to do with monroes' playing.
