  • Brigadeiro (Brazilian Chocolate Truffles) - If you not familiar with Brigadeiros, this is a traditional Brazilian dessert that made of condensed milk, cocoa powder and butter. Very popular dessert in Brazil, especially in parties and holidays. If you've never tried it, now is the time. Just be careful , it's addictive!

    Recipe:
    Makes about 15-18 balls
    Ingredients:
    1 can (14oz/397g) Sweetened condensed milk
    1/4 cup (30g) unsweetened Cocoa powder
    1 tablespoon (15g) Butter
    For coating:
    • Desiccated coconut
    • Crushed pistachios
    • Chocolate sprinkles
    Directions:
    1. In a medium saucepan over low heat melt the butter, add sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder and salt. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture becomes very thick and starts to pull away from the bottom and sides of the pan. About 6-8 minutes. Do not overcook.
    2. Remove from heat and pour into greased plate or pan. Let cool for 1 hour.
    3. grease your hands with butter and shape into small balls. Then, roll in topping of your choice.
    4. Keep refrigerated before serving.

    If it's not thickening for you, you need to bring it to a boil first while stirring constantly so it doesn't burn. It will definitely take more than 6-8 minutes if you're cooking it on low heat.

    This recipe is Super Right! With COCOA POWDER and NOT "Chocolate Powder or Chocolate Milk Powder" Because chocolate powder and Chocolate Milk Powder have VERY Sugar. I have lived in Brazil for 33 years, city São Paulo :)

    tip: do not use butter to make the ball, pass some cold water on your hand, with butter the confectionery does not stick and it tastes like butter.

      can you just freeze it for another hour? i’ve seen people freeze it for two hours and they didn’t mention that you should butter your hands or anything like that

      @@samootaratyall well, you can but i dont really recommend it. I think the best option is either using a very very small amount of butter in your hands or using cold water as the comment says

      @@MaryJFox this could work for the coconut flavoured ones use coconut oil. For the chocolate flavoured ones I think a small amount of butter is okay

    -I tablespoon of butter (melt)
    -A can of sweetened condensed milk
    -¼ cup of cocoa powder
    (Cook over low heat stirring constantlyfor 6-8 minutes)
    (Until the mixture is thick dont overcook )
    -Pour into greased plate or pan
    -Let cool for 1 hour
    - grease your hands with butter
    - shape into small balls
    - add topping of choice

    You could try chopped macadamia nuts. I was just in Portugal and I stayed in a hostel that had a bunch of Brazilian's, and they made this for everyone. Now that I am home, I want to share it with my family.

    For the cocoa powder ingredient I recommend using the same you use for hot chocolate so that that way you don't have to strain it. The stirring part is pretty tricky. You need to stir the entire time until it becomes thick one way to tell if it's ready is you put your spoon and slide across it and if it separates and comes together quickly, then that means it's good. Another way is if it falls from your spoon in clumps. you don't have to put it in a greased pan to refrigerate. All you need to do is put it in any pot and It will cool in 30 minutes. greasing your hands with butter is very important so that it doesn't stick to your hands. for toppings, I recommend chocolate sprinkles.

    I make these often. Sometimes I use plain cocoa powder like this recipe and sometimes mix both cocoa powder and chocolate milk mix as per other recipes

    I read you should stir the mixture for 15-20mins. From my brazilian friends. To keep in the fridge for more than an hour as it maybe still warm. Roughly 1-2 hrs. Im going to try this once we moved to our home as we have a country style kitchen..i want to experience this

    Chicken Cream Recipe!:

    You can also spice them up with sea salt or pink pepper as toppings, and maybe some rum added during cooking the chocolate for more flavour. Keep up the good work!

    If you blend / grind up freeze-dried raspberries, then sift out the seeds, the resulting powder has a very strong raspberry flavor and seems like it could be good for this?

    You can actually roll them in icing sugar, brown sugar,dark/white chocolate syrup or mix of crushed peanuts, almonds& pistachio... Pls give a like if u like my suggestion..

      cold is better, in my opinion, (put it in the fridge), and use some ice water to model, not butter.

      In a tight lid container 7 days in the refrigerator but take it ou 30 mins before eating because will be too firm, room temperature usually 7 days but I leave out only for 5 days in air tight container in a cool place.

    Tip - use good quality cocoa powder! 99% of the taste is chocolate so the better the powder the nicer it will taste

      Yep. Here in Brazil, we have some "variations" of this recipe. You can roll it in whatever you like :)
