    Lauri is basically a modern day athletic Dirk with the finishing ability and build of Giannis.

      Giannis build maybe not so much, but athletic dirk with solid finishing for sure. Would be awesome to see him with a real number 2 or being the number 2 on a contender.

      Look up Tom Chambers highlights. They do a lot of the same stuff.

    One thing I love about Markky is that he can catch and shoot so quickly. There’s not a lot of adjusting his stance or grip; he just shoots it the way he gets it. So cool

    This analysis was very helpful to my understanding of the matter
    He really can go MVP before we know it
    Big up

    He actually improved a lot before he's only a floor spacer, spot up shooter. Now he's off ball movement is great and is a strong finisher under the basket.

    Markkanen break all Utah records in few years. I hope Utah support him and buy really good players around him. Hardy is best coach to Markkanen and together they can make history.

    He's a better shooter than Dirk moves better. I'd love to see a comparison done. Dirk had crazy footwork. It's a good comparison.

    • @mmdoof

      Dirk put in from everywhere, Lauri still has work to do with his midrange shots and he misses layups too. Fix that up and he's definitely in the same class. He had a good game against OKC now where he showed that versatility.

    • @anthonyliberto9932

      You all putting him near Dirk is insane. Dirk led two teams to the finals. Should have had two rings if not for dwade being untouchable. Dirk moved very well in his prime. Could finesse people for layups with ease. He also wanted the ball in his hands

    Still I think he has too many sub 20point games tho. With his talent and skill, he should do better. Is it because Jazz don't always use him that much or he gets tired from playing +30mins in a lot of games?

  • @OGMrE
    @OGMrE Před 5 měsíci +2

    Good shiz. You should do Collin Sexton next. His aggressive play had helped the Jazz in there push over the last 20 games.

    I agrée is an efficient scorer but clearly the next step for him is becoming a creator. The man never averrage over 2 assists per game. And in playoff we know that they will be defense who will put him out his game. If he can’t use the difference that he makes as a playmaker, then he will always be just an all star player, nothing more.

  • @timometsanoja9666
    @timometsanoja9666 Před 5 měsíci +1

    Lauri is so awful to defend off the ball. He is basically in constant motion and if you blink he's dunking on you or putting up a three on the other side of the court. And he doesn't need or demand the ball either. He isn't an iso scorer. He makes his spots off the ball with the constant motion. And usually when he gets the rock, he is in a position to score so defenses have to respect him as he is a threat from logo inwards and then he can easily get past his own defender and then the defenses just crumble. One thing that Lauri can still improve is his playmaking. When he has collapsed the enemy defense there are multiple open team mates he could also pass the ball to, but he doesn't have that natural court vision so it is ok... He could get more assists, but scoring is good too and there are not many players who have a better chance of making it from him.
    Jazz play beautiful basketball and it sounds like jazz too... Everything is going on seemingly randomly, but it all ends so beautifully. Perfect chaos...

      @@anthonyliberto9932 well, the management seems to be dead set on playing losing seasons and gutting the team of veteran players to make room for the gazillion draft picks they have. So it is not a huge surprise that the team is again floundering.

    Jazz got him for a steal. Haliburton could've been had for a steal at one point in time. The trick is to id and acquire these gems before they breakout into a gem and become too expensive.

    1:24 Lauri has short arms. he is 11" taller than Donovan Mitchell but only 1" more wingspan

  • @bigballsdance2426
    @bigballsdance2426 Před 5 měsíci +1

    he is not good in isolations, he needs a lot of ball movement to be able to score.

    7 footer with a 6'11" wingspan doesn't sound that good?

    • @harrikuusjarvi3795
      @harrikuusjarvi3795 Před 5 měsíci +10

      He release his shots faster and is more accurate. More wingspan have more defensive benefits. And its not that big deal. Lauri can easily make blocks also. Its not what is after. Just make shooters life more difficult.

    • @dgoodall
      @dgoodall Před 5 měsíci +6

      It is a short wingspan, and explains why he’s not an elite shot blocker. But he is still a legit 7 footer so he has great size compared to his speed and agility.

    • @johnsmith_1942
      @johnsmith_1942 Před 5 měsíci

      @@dgoodallSon, that does not explain "why he is not an elite shot blocker".😅

    • @rvalens2
      @rvalens2 Před 5 měsíci +8

      You are right. Normally, you want a player's wingspan to at least match their height, but with Lauri Markkanen it doesn't seem to matter. The guy moves like a guard and shoots so well, it allows him to get around, shoot over or outwit players who would normally cause problems for players whose wingspan is less than their height.

    • @marssang
      @marssang Před 5 měsíci +10

      @@rvalens2 Wingspan is relevant on offense for shot release point and dribble point. Lauri has a high release point and he is super smart in where he dribbles, and thus averages less turnovers than anyone in the NBA who averages 18 PPG or more. Actually his 1.2 TO is probably historically great number considering his usage and PPG. If I remember this correctly, last year he joined a very short list of players who have averaged less than 2 TO with over 25 PPG. I think it was Dirk and 2-3 other guys who have ever done that.
      On defense wingspan is more about 1on1 defense, pass deflections and steals, but tall players arent usually great in those as they dont get super low in their stances or they get beat off the dribble. For blocks, contests and rebounds, standing reach is much more important than wingspan.
