    Don’t know about that “substantially more adjustments” statement. The X2 has HSR that the Vivid doesn’t. But the Vivid has HBO that the X2 doesn’t. 🤷🏼‍♂️

      Fox has more clicks, but Number of clicks aside. The rebound range of slow speed is wider and not to mention high speed adjust. The compression damping has wider range on fox 1 click from Rockshox is like 5 from Fox

    This year I have occasion to ride fox sus and as RS fanboy I can agree with you that Fox are more damped on compression. It's quite hard to get RS more damped but not imposibble. As you mentioned, with RS suspension on bike I am riding with shock pump in hipbag and strongly playing with tokens and pressure to find compromise between traction and that "poppy" feeling. I would say, that RS will be good with trail bikes up to 130-140mm of rear travel on trails with smaller speeds that are not much demanding from biker. BUT if you want go more chunky stuff RS will be very diffucult to dial in, where fox is easier to set up, because of damped compression which leads to more control over bike and smooth ride feel.

    So Fox is recalling all their 2021-2023 X2's for brand new 2024 X2's with all new internals to correct all the cavitation and blow out and loud sounds. I ride a Yeti Sb160 and Yeti has two tunes for the 2023 X2 and different tune for the 2024 X2. The 2024 tune, the HSC and LSC settings are the same but the they suggest less rebound in HSR and LSR. This has me believe the new 2024 X2 is much slower than the 23 version. This leads me to believe the Vivid would be even more funner in playfulness than the 2024 X2.

    Hi, i have a 2022 Kenevo Expert S5, and i want to upgrade my rear suspension. Please tell me, how is the frame clereance for de Fox X2 Shock, because i saw in ur other video, that the vivid touched on the frame, and the other question is, to use the x2 in 230/65 config or reduce the travel to 62,5? Thank you!!!

    • @OtterMTBtech
      @OtterMTBtech  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I have not tried 62.5 x2. The 230x65 Vivid and X2 will rub the frame when you bottom out. Harder you ride the more it will rub. 230x60 seems like it didn’t rub.

    • @OtterMTBtech
      @OtterMTBtech  Před 7 měsíci +1

      30-40 psi more on vivid. 320 vivid, 270 x2. Vivid is a good shock, just relay on air pressure not compression circuit. DO NOT use the high speed compression unless you have the HBO maxed out. The compression circuits low and high choke the shock up.

    Never got my charger 3 zeb to feel good. Always harsh on square hits and always crap when going very fast. Good enough for going slow though. Zeb with charger 2.1 and the old spring is actually much better IMO, although the spring still kind of sucks with the big hole in the middle. For forks, I have tried zeb 2.1, 3, lyrik 2.0 and 2.1, pike 2.0 and fox 40, boxxer, 38 and 36, 34 and 34SC - but nothing comes close to my Mezzer and my Dorado 37. It's not even in the same league. I kind of like the X2 on my DH bike but I always worry about when it will blow and I have a backup shock for that reason.

    Sooo. I have a different opinion. Preface: mine is based on the Yeti SB160. 2024 Fox X2 vs 2024 RS Vivid... I may do a video on it too. I do find the Vivid to be too damped in feel and just traction for days. I weigh 215 and the app said to pump up to 250. It was too plush, so I went up to 4 tokens. It's better but still very glued to the ground. It makes climbs feel much slower. I leave HBO open and HSC open, LSC on 2-3, rebound about 4 clicks from wide open.
    The FOX X2...
    The X2 is much more poppier, playful and lively, also 4 tokens. I like a playful bike. The fox is way more adjustable. The Fox climbs much snappier and crisper. After break in period, it's pretty much quiet. When jumping, the rebound adjustments will allow you to get some really good pop for air. TO get the same from the Vivid, you have to run it about 26-27% sag and more open rebound. The Fox with a lower pressure of about 212 will keep the poppy feel, snappy climbing while not skipping too much over repeated hits. OR THIS... I can run the Fox X2 with 3 spacers and 225 air pressure, obtain almost all travel and more plush traction feel over repeated jank. It's a little compromise of climbing crispness, but closer to the Vivid feel.
    They are both great shocks and have their place. If you're a DH/gravity person, who will shuttle or use lift service, the Vivid is for you. It will stay glued to the ground with great traction. HBO is cool but not really needed with 3-4 spacers and the recommended pressure on the app for sag. The Fox X2 is great if you are a person who has to climb to the top and then descend. It's more tunable in a noticeable way. Each turn of 2-3 clicks is noticeable, I wouldn't recommend the vivid for back country riding though, pedaling would be tiring with it.
    I categorize these shocks like this: COIL shock, VIvid and Fox X2. Vivid is very, very coil like and the Fox is not so much coil like but very air shock like with adjustability to toe dip in the coil waters. The X2 can keep your bike poppy and playful, where as the Vivid is so much like a coil that it stays glued to the ground giving you that plush coil like feeling. Some may love this, some may not. Back tire does not skip over repeated hits, it's impressive really. The Fox is a shock that really allows you to feel the trail underneath you. Some may like this, some may not.
    My take on them but on different bike and suspension platform.

    • @OtterMTBtech
      @OtterMTBtech  Před 2 měsíci

      I definitely agree with 50% of what you say. The 2024 X2 is wildly different shock than the pre 2024 I just found why and made a video.
      To be real a $400 Sun tour coil blows both the shocks out of the water.
      Go coil and never look back with all this token fiddling

    Fox is just buttery smooth off the top with good mid support. I’ve had lots of bikes come with top end rockshox. They always felt harsh on little bumps and square edge.
