    Scott,
    That is my 16 yr old son who is a serious student of the war between the states. That flag was a gift and has hung there for 2 - 3 years. It wasn't an issue until it was made one recently by people who are ignorant and/or too lazy to study the facts of that conflict. I'm growing weary of comments like yours which stem from radical left wing news media bias, willful ignorance of the facts, and a determination to create conflict where there is none. This is simply where he happened to be sitting when I decided to grab a quick video of what I thought was a pretty cool rendition of that song. Long story short, if we lost you at the backdrop, that is fine with us. There were no political statements made or intended. I'd appreciate it if you would not try to create one.

      "WORD" ! Liberals live in a world of constant conflict and if there isn't one, they'll soon create one.

    Jeremy Gibson, Josiah said that yes, this is plain old G tuning. He thanks you very much for your kind comments! Also, of course, feel free to figure it out. He said that, when you improve on it, he may try to figure yours out! Lol!! Thanks again!!

    I had learned this in sawmill tuning, but I think you playing it in plain ole G tuning. hope you don't mind if I try to figure your version out. The 3rd string bends make it so cool. Awesome job!!!

    okay, I admit I cannot work out the syncopation and bends you're doing! Do you have a tablature for this? It would help me immensely!

    • @josiahtyree1307
      @josiahtyree1307 Před 8 lety +2

      +hypermegasphere I am sorry, I don't. I have to admit, if I had tablature, I couldn't read it myself! Lol! I basically play by ear. I wish I could help more! My Dad really wants me to start making some short teaching videos. In the near future, I hope to do a short, informal video with this tune slowed down and with close ups as to how I play it. I don't consider myself a teacher, but I would love to help if I can. I will reply to your comment with a link when I get it done.

      +Josiah Tyree No problem - I'm slowly working towards learning tunes by ear, but I'm still using tabs to fill in the gaps. I'll just have to listen some more ;) You've got a really nice technique, keep playing those great tunes.

    • @GarryTyree
      @GarryTyree  Před 2 lety +1

      That's my son. He was 15 when I shot this video. While I appreciate your compliment on his playing, have the sense to understand that this was not a political statement, just a simple video of a great old banjo tune. This flag was a gift and had hung on his wall in his room for quite some time. So in response to your flag comment, and your obvious insinuation of a planned motive for displaying it, that flag is part of our American history (a fact which, whether you like this or not, we simply are not at all concerned) in regards to a conflict that you obviously know little to nothing about. So enjoy the tune, which we hope you do, but keep your peripheral comments to yourself. If you can't do that, we invite you to display your ignorance somewhere else and go away.

      @@GarryTyree Sir, I DO know a lot about what that flag represents. I was born and raised in the deep South.Through the 60s, I watched my fellow lazy and ignorant white brothers continuing to cause havoc 100 years later. Ignorant and disgusting behavior, and their legacy continues into this present political toil.
      That flag is now displayed nation/worldwide through your video...not just his bedroom. With that, you have now opened up yourselves to all comments and opinions from your audiences.
