- Recipe here: www.joyofbaking.com/SconesCho... Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make Chocolate Chip Scones. Chocolate Chip Scones make a very tasty breakfast treat. These scones also contain sweet dried red cherries which I think pairs nicely with the dark chocolate chips. One of my favorite ways to make scones is with buttermilk, instead of the more traditional cream (or milk). Buttermilk gives these Scones a light and tender, almost bread-like texture. The scones are baked in a fairly hot oven which gives them a golden brown and crisp outer crust. If you can enjoy these scones the same day as they are made, preferably shortly after they come out of the oven.

As soon as I started watching I knew I had all the ingredients so I put the video back to the start and made these along with you.. Now I'm going to have a coffee and enjoy one.. Thank you for sharing.
Omg I just made these and had a bite. I've never had scones in my life before. It's just not something that's served in Indian cafes or bakeries. But OMG, where have they been all my life.
They are so delicious. Buttery, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, perfect sweetness. You get that velvety after texture because of the butter. This is going to be my favourite tea time snack from now on.
Do give this recipe a try.
Thank you once again ma'am. ❤️
Love ur recipes ur the one who taught me baking through you tube 🙂
Same here...I love the way you teach which makes learning n making easier.. thank you so much ❤️
You can hear the crunch when you eat it, omg! Perfection!
The homey taste and texture of a scone plus chocolate and cherries...can't get better than that. Well, actually, it can with a little zoom-in on...that sweet dog! She makes me smile EVERY time. She's like the little surprise in a box of Cracker Jacks (or "Where's Waldo")!😁💝
I never made scones before seeing you make them in videos.
One day I thought, "she makes scones look easy to make, so I will make them." Now I have made scones many times.
I have watched all the other scone makers and I must say you are the best, so natural, and clever, the way you show us how you make the most delicious scones you make it so enjoy able...👱♀️I will be having ago myself. Gina
I love that when she took the scones out of the oven you could see how happy she was it shows that baking definitely brings joy

Scones (British). I make cheese scones every week and freeze in small batches. Baking time 12/13 minutes only at 200 centigrade FAN oven. (Conventional oven 220 centigrade). Perfect every time.

Your pronunciation is just as lovely as your recipe 💗
I am so making these this weekend
I just made this and not only my house small divine, there were very easy to make and they are DELICIOUS!!!
I can believe how simple was to make, the only bad thing about this is that I will want to make them all the time!!! 😅👍👏👩🏽🍳🍒🍫
I bought some Southern Biscuit L recipe I'm going to try on these. Also I don't know the difference between scones and cookies but who cares? Thanks Stephanie.
Buttermilk can also be replaced by a mixture of yogurt and some other liquid (e.g. milk). I tried that last week for my cheese and courgette scones and it worked out fine.
Oh yummy they look so good Stephanie.🥰🤩
Hi Joy, another way to check if the scones are cooked, knock on the top of the scone and if you hear a hollow sound, then the scones are done.
Yum !
Dear Stephanie I can hear you saying that your scones are crying out for a swipe of butter. Thank you for your wonderful recipes.
We missed you ♥️♥️
I would keep the butter stick in freezer and grate the butter in the flour. So that way it does not melt with heat from fingers.
How is this different from the recipe that was posted years ago? I have used that recipe many times (they are the best), I just checked the recipe, the measurements are the same. I have memorized the recipe :)
It’s the same. We needed to update the video.
I've been making scones for a while now, but I need to make these without baking powder to avoid monocalcium phosphate. What amounts of baking soda / buttermilk would I need to adjust if I omitted the baking powder?
I'm going to bake this for a change from my round scone recipe. I also pronounce it the British way. Just grew up with said that way in Zim. 😉
Hi Stephanie, thank you for all of your wonderful baking tutorial videos. I really enjoy them. I have sort of a random question. In some videos you are in a white kitchen and in this one it's a different kitchen. Are these studios you are filming from or from your homes? Just me being curious :) Also, the photography (I think your husband gets credit for ) in your videos are always great!
They are both our home kitchens. We are now shooting from our kitchen in Atlanta. Yes Rick does the filming as well as taking the pictures.
@@joyofbaking So nice of you to take the time to reply. Your television presence is so relaxing and fun to watch. I feel like I'm sitting in your kitchen with you watching you bake. I love baking and cooking and now that I'm retired, I can enjoy both of those things even more. Additionally, my husband, family, and friends are all REALLY enjoying it! I've been trying out several of your recipes and actually experiment with other bakers on youtube, but quite honestly, your recipes are spot on with taste and ease of baking. Because of your clear instructions, everything is achievable. Thank you for all of your videos!
Big like 👍
I’m English and pronounce it just like you 🏴
Hi Daphne Bloomfield. Do you bake and then freeze. Thanks. Will try to freeze. Love from South Africa
Yes you can freeze the baked scones.
Thank you Stephanie.
I thought I'd have to buy a scone pan to make scones! Nice to know I don't need it!
❤️❤️❤️
can we use date instade of chocolatechips???
That should be okay,
Can scones be frozen after their baked would they be good when they're defrosted?
Yes you can freeze scones. Scones are at their best freshly baked, but I think they are also good even after freezing.
Look very delicious 🤤 😋🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪
What I do to keep a consistent moisture usage, is to keep the flour in the fridge. This way every time the humidity changes I do not have to change my recipes.
Can also use brown raw sugar?
Yes, you can do that.
@@joyofbaking Well,Thanks very much.... here in Fiji 🇫🇯 we use raw brown sugar mostly in everything coz it's locally made & mostly available
Brown sugar adds a hint of caramel flavor that would work really well with the vanilla, if using that
😋
Hi, can i use fresh milk instead of butter milk?
You can do that.
What can I substitute for butter milk because they don't have it in the country I'm in?
You can make a good substitute. Take 1 cup milk (240ml) and stir in 1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar. Let sit at room temperature 10 minutes and it is ready to use.
@@joyofbaking Thank you
Hi ,can I use olive oil, thank you
I’ve never tried that so I don’t know how that would work.
Oils don't work as they throw off the ratios of wet and dry ingredients needed for the right texture
Can I use jaggery powder instead of sugar
I'm sorry, but I've never used jaggery powder so I don't know how that would work.
@@joyofbaking I used half jaggery powder half white sugar in one of your pound cake recipes and it turned out super good!
🥰
Can this recipe be doubled?
Yes you could do that.
Had to do a double take when you opened your fridge, not used to seeing that in your videos,LOL...
