PS The missing shoe was hysterical. Lol
Tom and the infamous headshot photo 😂😂
I hadn't realized that skyscrapers were designed to, in part, take advantage of elevators! Of course, it makes sense. Thank-you!
A fun tour! At first I thought there was a funeral director behind you standing next to a hearse until a body came out from the back and walked away. lol 🧚♀
30 years ago, this was just part of the Lower East Side.
23:25 i wonder why they installed the metal base to stop people from pushing the cube, i remember one time me and my friends were hanging out next to the cube and i told them if you push hard enough, it will start to rotate. none of my friends believed me so i went ahead to push the cube and when it started to rotate, all my friends were amazed and they all tried to push the cube to make it rotate
the mechanism broke iirc. they recently removed the cube to repair the turning mechanism, so soon it will turn again
Giving Jim Carrey vibes, in a good way. Enjoyed your content!
Great tour as usual Tom! My father owned 2 industrial buildings on Bond and Great Jones since the 1940s. My mother sold them in 1975 for only a few hundred thousand dollars. I can only imagine how expensive they would be now.
I’ve never stopped cracking up at “Guggey Guggey Heim Heim”
I think thats the house w the horse w Beefarino and George"caught" the marble rye/ Love your humor Tom
Shout out to the Great Lakes! #Go Bills!
YESSS! The triumphant return of the Tommy D headshot.
(Didn't some sort of art collective once cover that cube-shaped sculpture in Astor Place to make it look like a Rubik's cube?)
When you showed a photo of Louis Sullivan I thought, that's not rught, such a modern look, that's not an old photo. But it was really him. Stunned of his looks😊. Great video again. Loved it.
It's been way too long since I watched a Tom D video. Have missed your New York knowledge and kooky humour. Your exaggerated French pronunciation cracks me up 😂 Cheers from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
Always enjoying your walks and the history of the CITY that has so much to see and explore 👍
Wishing y’all a happy Easter
Love the tongue-in-cheek humor from Tom and I'm still waiting to "get the crud scared out of me", I have confidence he will succeed. Another great upload of some of that sweet NYC history with that AUTHENTIC NYC-mindset, yeah. They should've invited you into that Zero Bond Club, haha.
You going around those polls was cute .
luv your history tour of Noho, rolling your tongue French pronunciation of his name LOL hilarious
Excellent as always, Tom! Thank you.
When I was at the comedy club - Courtney asked anyone if they knew any trivia from watching your videos - I actually knew NoHo - was named because it was North of Houston. Hope I get it in a quiz someday. Another great video keep up the good work Tom 🔥🔥
Heard you singing cher.. thought it was her. Amazing job.
Very interesting every time! The background stories on the historical buildings are also informative. I guess it is because Manhattan is earthquake-free that old buildings are still standing.
The missing was funny . 😅
4:24 did you just slip in a clip of Tiny Dancer??? 😂😂
Tom should have interviewed the guy who moved into the Astor Place Cube, in order to find affordable (free) housing.
Or, maybe he got evicted, which would be surprising, because he may have been there long enough to claim "squatters rights"!
Tom is the man
You're my lady in the tower you're my Midnight Hour you're my spring shower you're my superpower # Happy
Easter #NYC # applesauce
LOL, "the height of Burj Khalifa's cappuccino machine" was much more funny than those scare numbers :)) Anyway, thanks for that great video 😊
3:46 Tom… you needed the drum effect right after this sentence!!!
Check out Louis Sullivan’s Guaranty Building in Buffalo.
I love ny hope to visit thank you for all the information so interesting great job
Hysterical while learning me something!
Your content is awesome!!
I bought me the same jacket, as Tom is wearing but more like for girls, with those pockets!! Huge fan! Love your work! Hugs:)
The neighborhood changed well. It looks like by the pictures you post of yourself in the past you have changed
Great video, as per usual! Do more Bronx, please!
Another great vid, Happy Easter to ya
Love your tours! very informative. the best. You gota do Sheepshead bay and Coney Island.
Next time let Pat know…. This is an interactive filming session.
Al Pacino!!!!!!! Hilarious
It’s pronounced Pacino
“PRAY FOR MORE MONEY” 😄😄😄
Yes! More affordable and supportive housing in Manhattan. Damn right!
Thank you Tom!
Regarding the term skyscraper here's some trivia: A skyscraper is usually thought of as 40 stories or higher. A high-rise some say can be as low as 12 stories but some say it has to be 20 stories and above. A mid-rise is over 5 stories, and a low-rise is up to 4 stories. Other sources say a low-rise could be up to 6 stories and a mid-rise could be 7-19. So which is it? lol
Awsome informal tour Tom. Sick Plug
Another awesome tour as always!
I always watch you on TV and I adore you I enjoy the history and I'm always riveted to my seat to what you're going to show us next thank you thank you thank you. You've taught me more history that I could ever imagine. Happy Easter to you and Lucie
@21:00 😆 At age 100 you get thrown in a blender. Leave your money order under the door.
Hey Tom, awesome video again, muchas gracias and dankeschön! But there was some kind of annoying sound in the background during the whole video, like a bleep, maybe you want to check that out. But anyway, greetings from Germany!
I don't know what I appreciated more the the Michael Jackson bad information or a little bits of graffiti. I guess it was a history
Ohhhhh “beaux-arts” hahaha😂
Good ol' Gatorade piss jugs. I used to go home to NC and my family would be like wow, I can't believe you left home and are making a living in NYC. Little did they know I was rocking pisses in empty Gatorade bottles so I didn't wake up insane roommate who had terrible mom issues.
Let’s take a tour of your home Tom
Pat’s camera has a buzzing sound.
Tom hey ! How you doing!?
TIL that Wesley Snipes and Martin Scorsese were involved in the Michael Jackson Bad short film.
Wesley pipes, the name of the p0rn star. really
I miss spinning the cube. Maybe a tycoon from Zero-Bond will fix it.
111 places not to miss in New York.
Was that a celeb at 10:50, coming out of the black SUV?
Ok, I have two NYC questions (unrelated to this video): 1. Why are there boulders on 10th Avenue down by the High Line? They are on the sidewalk, along by the curb. At least two of them. They look placed there, but also made to look like they just "grew out of the ground" there. 2. Do you know anything about the grave of "The Lost Boy" in the Morningside Heights area? (Or near that area.). My MIL mentioned it to me and I'd never heard of him before. Thanks, in advance!
I think I can answer your second question: you’re referring the monument of the Aimiable Child, located at W124th St and Riverside Drive. It’s a marble memorial surrounded by a metal fence. You can read more about it in this Wikipedia article: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiable_Child_Monument
@@ssoomee Thank you! I will take a look!
Pat : I think so..
Save the comedy act for the open mic night at ur local dive
Wasn't Mr. Schermerhorn also a character in Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York, played by David Hemmings, who starred with Vanessa Redgrave in 1967 in Michelangelo Antonioni's Blow-Up, which had quite a bit of nudity for the time?
First viewer ..... Thank You Tom....
05 does that cube still turn?
23:40 i guess not
We really need a trip tour of Old Amsterdam AKA Amsterdam.
Can’t believe that person walked in front of your camera! Why can’t people understand they are in a public space!
eww, empty Gatorade bottles
damn who was that @ 10:51? she got escorted from the car to probably the door
Indonesian people ❤
I just watch for the car posing.
The Merchant's House.....with graffiti on the side......is probably worth $15 million?!
bowery boys :)
Is that we're all the peeetos go?
Bring back Phil !
I love you
I never knew MJ's song was sung "your butt is mine" I thought it was your world is mine or something, not butt. funny that prince declined for that word. I had no clue how old these places were in nyc. I wonder how long America will last as an empire or a nation. I think 336 is the median for an empire and we started in 1776 so...but I do wonder who will take over this land and develop or destroy what of it, like they did the parthenon in Athens in ancient times.
I love your (my) name!
2:44 Seabury Tredwell's great-great-great- great-great grandfather was Thomas Tredwell.
Thomas. You're a Thomas. What a coincidence. Can't make this stuff up.
(Seabury was the family name of Elizabeth Seabury the Tredwells married into.)
17:40 57 Great Jones Street includes a hoity-toity referral only Japanese Restaurant. Guess if you can afford a Basquiat someone will sponsor you. Upstairs apartment goes for $5,400 per month ($64,800 a year) so, yea, Tom was darn close.
Btw, the electrolytes in G*torade could still be recyclable so chilled in your $10,000/mo. apartment wine cooler guests won't be able to tell the difference between rebottled and any other sportz energy drink.
(Not Medical Advice)
Do an architectural walking tour with Michael Wyetzner, New York architect (shows on AD CZcams). Like datz gonna happen
Sorry, but I had to ask,
What's with all the dogs ?
They're status for the wealthy.
To walk your dog indicates you have enough money you don't have to eat dog like the rest of the pedestrians.
NOHO factoid.
Isnt it NOHO because its North of Houston? Not north of Soho? I thought Soho meant south of Houston. Or have I been misinformed my whole life?
I've been to NYC several times, and this video reminds me of the chilling fact that the place is actually taken over by dogs. Forget Billionaires' Row. Dogs are the actual overlords.
Booooooo
Where’s Eric
bro that poor dog right in the start wth it looks like a dirty mop
I love your videos. Verey informative. But for the love of God stop singing. 😂😂😂😂
I think you're cute.
It's REALLY crazy to think The PRINCE would be in a MJ video as an extra. That's gotta be an urban myth. No way that's true. Prince was already an established artist at that time so 🤔🤔
Btw
Some of the former industrial buildings around that area were intended to be developed into affordable working class housing ...
except the Artists in Residence (AIR) squatters prevented developers from investing in the buildings for fear of legal issues with the "artists" who later bought the buildings they were in for pennies on the dollar retiring well off.
It was the wannabe self-proclaimed "artists" who attracted and invited rich upper Manhattan galleries to the areas who in turn attracted other rich residents the neighborhoods.
So, probably a myth "artists" were good for the area just the opposite. The working poor were fingered again.
5:13 Tommie, whatyadoin', don't u watch your own video, dogs piss on that stoop.
🐩🦔 👈 sniff
17:13 speaking of missing left silver Manolo Blahnik kitten heel will ya be including Snooper the Missing Maltese cat in ya next 'Mysteries of New York" ?
*Thanks* enjoyed the tour.
Bro, why you always sighing at the beginning 0f videos . Chill out, it'll be ok
I kinda like your channel dude, but your comedy cues or whatever are a bit weird...lol. Your Wash. Heights was solid despite your off-comedy..lol. sorry.
🗣I don't know what else to tell ya but 🤒 f#@kin 🔌.🦧 #LaPlugga 😁👍🏽
