Well I live in Norfolk, VA. Our state and many states around us are historical sites and because of that we have numerous events in a year celebrating one event or another in our history. Strange since many of those events were actually pretty horrible but yeah we usually have at least one historical event a month.

I mean yes it's clearly an allegory to addiction but his personality on blood is his personality. (SPOILERS AHEAD) It's different than his no humanity personality. The Rippah thing is about how he can't control himself while he is drinking from a person so he rips them apart but when Stefans on blood and just walking around that's his personality and its a mean personality that's why I never truly connect with him he gets enjoyment from being mean to people and no, that's not from being a ripper. The ripper is only about once he bites into someone he rips them apart then feels guilty so he puts their body's back together which is still him with his humanity on. He doesn't feel guilty when his humanity is off. I tried explaining the best I could sorry if it came off confusing. But Stefan is still in my top 3 characters of the entire show I just always like him more when he isn't dating Elena. Damon is the opposite I like him more when he's dating Elena because Damon isn't a yes man to Elena but Stefan is and only to her and he's always a sad boy with Elena In Season 1 & 2 and no that is not Elena's fault or doing he wants that type of relationship with her.

One theme you'll see throughout the show is Stefan's lack of control. I just think it's ironic how Stefan, who chooses to feed on animal blood, struggles with control, and then there's Damon, who feeds on humans and can control his bloodlust.
Yeah Stephan probably would have been able to learn to control himself and end up like Lexi or Damon instead of it being out of site out of mind. Cause he was bound to break again

There are a lot of double standards for Stefan because when he does bad things because of his addiction it’s horrible and unredeemable but when Damon just kills for fun it’s funny 😭
Yes and they portray his problems with Elena more as domestic abuse than romance novel fantasy (as when Damon makes threats and grabs her which, I personally don’t care about lol it’s hard for me to turn my brain off in that way and not be supremely irritated), though they did portray Damon’s relationship with Caroline as an abusive one.

It’s definitely manipulation but it’s not gaslighting. It’s a combination of guilty tripping and playing the blame game. You turn the situation around to make the person who’s accusing you look bad by blaming them for their reaction to your mistreatment so you could control their behaviour. He’s like “if you don’t want me not to lie to you, then don’t react this way when you find out I’ve been stealing blood and lying about it”, “my lying is justified because of the way you react”
When ever Stefan feels insecure about his relationship, he resorts to use manipulation instantly to get himself out of trouble. He did it in E11 when Elena found Katherine’s picture and he’s doing it again in this episode.
First he tried to turn the situation around to Damon and blamed him as usual but Elena was smart enough to see through that so Stefan tried to use more complicated methods to control the argument in his favour by making Elena feel guilty for her reaction and even for the fact she even doubted him, “come on Elena, I thought you believed in me” and it worked when Damon came to Elena that Amber was missing, she immediately said “no he won’t hurt her”
Elena is in denial about Stefan’s dark side because Stefan himself was trying his best to hide that side of him from Elena and making her feel guilty to even believe he had one. He created a version of himself for Elena to fall in love with that’s not his real self and he kept manipulating Elena to keep her way from that side of him that he hated about himself, His vampire nature and his dark side so he could keep pretending that side of him never existed.

Stefan was gaslighting Elena, Elena was not gaslighting Stefan lol. It was not mutual gaslighting, she was just pointing out the truth including his very changed behavior. He was disparaging her reactions and lying. Maybe it seemed like both or neither because it’s generally more acceptable for men to do that to women-and in my experience, common-than vice versa.
There are a number of reasons for this, but before people think I’m saying “all gaslighters are men” I am not, at all. It’s simply not true lol. Some of the best gaslighters I know are women rofl

Unpopular opinion: I hated Bonnie’s place in the show/ character. Not her herself, but the way Bonnie is barely in the show except for when they need a “powerful” witch. Hated that Bonnie seemed to not be in nearly half the show. Hated the way they tried to make Bonnie Elena’s best friend when Bonnie was barely there meanwhile Caroline was there every step of the way but was never viewed the same way as Bonnie to Elena.
Bonnie was one of those characters that was written in for convenience to fill plot holes or make things happen for the plot to progress. But her as a character didn’t have much substance to her besides her dislike of vampires/slow to warm up to them and willingness to help her friends. Other than that, we don’t get much of her personality or even how she interacts with the other characters. We get snip it’s.
I just rewatched tvd and literally seasons 1-4 Bonnie seems to barely be in until they need someone to do a spell for the plot

This is my favorite episode of this season. I don't think I was fully Team Delena yet when I watched for the first time, but it's when I couldn't deny the obvious chemistry between them.

Jeremy is an upbeat naive 15 year old in season 1, while the actor was 21 at the time. It makes for a weird viewing experience where I just don't know what to make of his character; it's like the uncanny valley.
That whole scene with Stefan and Elena had me on edge of my seat the first time watching! How he slammed her up against the wall like that was terrifying! Definitely brave of her because I don’t know if I could stay that sane! Blood is very much like a drug to them and Stefan definitely has some problems

Look the feeling is almost mutual. XD The only thing argument I ever hear for Damon and Elena is that they have chemistry. Which ok sure but I am not interested in the story of characters who have “chemistry” and nothing else together? An attraction, sure. It develops into friendship but. Everything else that people say about why they’re perfect for each other is not really. Shown at all ever lol. Characters may SAY the reasons, that are directly contradicted by the storylines.
There are romantic moments. People say “they look good together! Damon is hot! She’s so pretty!” Again that’s a photo not a story? They’re also not different enough that it feels like the opposites attract thing either. They don’t balance each other out imo. But they also aren’t on the same page, except occasionally about Stefan… and when her ex is the main thing they have in common… I don’t have any reason to ship her with him instead of that ex. 🤔
But I also despise another extremely popular ship on the show because to me it is stunningly illogical - love may be blind and visceral, but only to a point. So after a few seasons especially, it seemed clear they were interested in appealing more to a specific type of person than to a variety who watched the first few seasons. Unfortunately, that longer included me.
Team Delena. Anyone that thinks they're amazing together only because of their chemistry has only seen this show from that pov. And i respect it. But yeah they are perfect for each other. They bring out the best in each other. The danger in each other. No one has loved Damon the way Elena loved him. And he's always deserved that kind of love. And he brings out something in Elena. She has a lot more spunk when she's around him. Damon loves everything about her. Even her vampire side. Which Stefan didn't. If you remember. Damon was the older brother. Who always protected Stefan from their dad who was abusive. And so on. Damon always took the hit. He deserved someone as good as elena. Like Damon has always been the hero. He just doesn't advertise like one. Unlike Stefan. Damon has always done what needed to be done. Even if it's not the most humane act. He did what was needed to keep his family safe. They are perfect for each other. 😅 Atleast from my pov.

To be honest the thing about “chemestry” is silly for me, some actors are great in acting but they don’t have chemestry together, but I’m not suppose to ignore a good storyline of real love just bc some actors don’t have chemestry or don’t have more chemestry than the other ship. I think Damon and Elena have more than chemestry but it’s not them of why I’m talking, I’m talking about Klaroline, they have huge chemestry, yes I know, but they didn’t have any sense at all, their interactions are mostly Caroline using Klaus and Klaus being a simp about her, but for MOSTLY all the fandom they are the best couple. Since I watch the originals I saw how a good story and with sense is made it. Maybe the actor Klaus and Cami doesn’t have more chemestry that Caroline with Klaus, but the story is better, the writting have perfect sense and lot more of things. So I’m with you in that, chemestry is not the most important thing in a show

The thing is that Damon can control his bloodlust but chooses not to and still feeds on humans without a care in the world. Stefan feeds because he has to and has no control. The entirety of last episode was him fighting his hardest not to feed and even with all that he still couldn't. He still feels immensely guilty and so whenever he's not feeding on people he chooses to feed on animals in hopes to control himself. He doesn't like who he is deep down while Damon just doesn't care and chooses to let loose. It's almost like a pick your poison. One has control but chooses not to and one wants to be in control but physically can't. In a way it still makes Damon look worse because he chooses too.

I guess that’s why I prefer Stefan lol. But I usually prefer villains to “bad boys” who to me seem wholly unrealistic. Not that I like villains irl! XD I know it’s a fantasy, but… it’s too much of a fantasy for me to enjoy, and too much of a trope that people believe irl (which leads to a lot of problems).
You know what I realized, it’s also that to me Damon has the personality of an evil 13 year old boy. And I don’t find that attractive? As gorgeous as Ian Somerhalder is and as funny as Damon is? I like him as a character, but in terms of attraction or shipping him with a character who has absolutely nothing in common with him (except their love for Stefan which… should not be the basis of a relationship lol)… I cannot lol.

I hate that the show tried to make us ,,buy'' all that Elena and Caroline ,,best friends" thing. You guys see it too, that Caroline is always jealous and in competition with Elena. And I'm sorry but I wouldn't think that a girl like Caroline would be my best friend by the way she acts around me. And with time this jealousy and competition is not going anywhere and it gets VERY annoying... :D
I think it's actually quite realistic to a lot of girls 'friendships' at that age- it's only when you are older you realise you were never friends to begin with or you both grow up and it turns into a real relationship. Same for boys as well- Matt and Tyler are hardly poster boys for what a good friendship looks like
