The easiest route to hike up Pen Y Fan (South Wales' tallest mountain)

- Walk up Pen Y fan, the tallest mountain in south Wales, via the easiest route with us! This whole route can be completed in around 3 hours so is perfect to do with kids or lazy friends who can’t be bothered for full-day mountains. Pont Ar Daf car park is at a reasonably high elevation so it’s much easier to hike this route compared with the other major trails.
The views here are among the best in the Brecon Beacons, I love hiking this route and have done it countless times now. It makes a very good spot to hunt for sunsets and sunrises because you could hike the route easily in the dark. Just be warned, it is very popular with hikers and tourists so don’t expect an empty summit!
If you visit, please take all your rubbish home with you (if it doesn’t grow there, it doesn’t go there), and make sure you use the public toilets at the start because there isn’t anywhere else along the trail.
Respect the space and leave no trace.

@@elventuresuk I'm Welsh and some Welsh people feel the need to constantly correct English people when saying Welsh words. I see no point unless an English person asks for the correct way. It's no big deal.
I went up there a few days ago when it was boiling hot. I did it from the other side though and barefoot haha. It was very nice until you get to the slate path which was awful to walk on barefoot but it is doable.

I'm not Welsh but I do make an effort to pronounce the names correctly. Perhaps you could do the same? Clue: Not all letters sound the same as in English.

@@MussoliniLondon An 'F' alone at the beginning of a word is pronounced as a 'V', so 'Pen-ee-Van'.
A double 'F' at the beginning of a word if an 'F' e.g. Ffestiniog

No it's not! Like it'll probably still feel steep if you're not very fit but it is a really accessible hill ☺️ definitely a good challenge if you've not done many big hills
